I fell in love with Shanghai. This trip was great. The lights were beautiful both day and night. The food was delicious. The transportation was convenient. The price was impressive. I could call Didi the whole trip. Not being able to speak Chinese was not a problem. The people here were very nice and always helped me. You can use the translate app to help you. Let's review our Shanghai trip that we went to earlier this year. We flew on December 31st and returned on January 5th, for a total of 6 days and 5 nights. This was a trip that we prepared for quite some time in advance. The weather was very cold. We wore Heattech and a coat, which was enough, but our hands were not good at all. Even with gloves, we were still cold. I recommend buying a heat pack, which makes life much easier. Most places in Shanghai don't require cash exchange. We exchanged money and didn't use it at any store. All stores used Alipay, which was very easy to spend. There were 4 of us on our trip, so we only used DiDi because it was very cheap. Stepping away from the hustle and bustle of Shanghai, I found myself in a space where time seemed to stand still. The Bridge 8 Art Creative Area, once the mansion of a wealthy Shanghai family, has now been transformed into a place brimming with art and creativity. Without compromising the charm of the old buildings, this area skillfully incorporates modern elements, epitomizing the harmony of old and new. Metal staircases nestle against stone walls, and wooden roof structures coexist with contemporary glass architecture, making it feel like a time slip. The lush courtyards and terraces provide a soothing escape from the city's noise. Scattered small cafes are perfect for spending leisurely time. With an espresso in hand, you can wander through the art galleries. Some shops have adopted LOHAS concepts. It's fascinating to see environmentally friendly initiatives permeate this historical space. I realize that I seek this 'nostalgia within the new' and 'tranquility within the city.' Bridge 8 is a special place that stimulates such adult sensibilities.

It was a long layover but short for a vacation. Anyway, I decided to go for a quick walk around to experience a day and a night in Shanghai. I had to make the most of my time so I went straight to the heart of the City, Waitan or otherwise known as Bund. The Bund or Waitan is a raised promenade by the waterfront running parallel Huangpo River in area in central Shanghai. The area has some of Shanghai's best architectural treasures, which includes grand, western style buildings built in the late 19th and early 20th century. The buildings feature architectural styles from Neoclassical to Beaux-Arts to Gothic to Baroque forming the popular Shanghai Skyline which glows brighter and more colorful at night. #celebratewithtrip #meetshanghai

Along the way, I passed many interesting shops and admired buildings of different styles: there were retro old Shanghai buildings and colonial European styles. It was a feast for the eyes to ride a bike and stroll leisurely.👀 How to use: - Go to the App Store and download "Hello Travel" first - Register an account: There are several ways to choose, such as WeChat or Apple account binding - Real-name verification: I connected to Alipay last time and it was successfully verified quickly - Then you can unlock the bike directly by scanning the code ✨There are also different coupons available in the App, you must grab the wool😆 💰 Charges: 1.5CNY for the first 15 minutes, and 1CNY for every 15 minutes thereafter. Definitely not!! Before heading out on this trip, I already had high expectations of this city. Reviews from social media praising the legendary Bund view to walking the Nanjing Street Pedestrian, it really got me genuinely excited about this trip. And when I finally arrived, it didn’t just meet my expectations, but instead surpassed it. The breathtaking view of the streets of #shanghai definitely did not disappoint. The food was superb and surprisingly affordable, despite being one of the most expensive cities in China. From La Mian to Xiao Long Bao to their famous Sheng Jian Bao (生煎包). Tried various eateries along the streets and in the mall and most lived up to the hype. Restaurants I recommend - 小杨生煎. Famous for their ShengJianBao, they sell really affordable and delicious ones that I definitely can eat everyday -海底捞. Definitely one of the restaurants you cannot miss out on in China. Quality is always there and price is pretty much cheaper by a margin. - 蔡先生. Found it on the streets of 徐家汇 and it took us by surprise. Took away the Xiaolongbao and surprisingly it was still delicious after leaving it out for 1-2 hours. - 麻多. Had delicious hot dishes like the 辣子鸡 and many more that a group of friends are able to share. Transportation in the city is definitely well-designed, where places are interconnected by either train or bus. The best feature of their transportation is that you can easily use WeChat/Alipay to enter without the need to go to the ticketing counter. If you prefer physical tickets, there are also machines to purchase a 1-time ticket or even a 3-day pass (though this is bought from the ticketing counter). Attractions in the city are also well scattered, with Disneyland being the crown jewel. There were also various historical towns like 蟠龍天地 which show a glimpse of China’s history with a bit of modernisation. One minor downside was the occasional smoke smell on the streets that stretches to toilets of malls, and also didi vehicles having the stench. Well, maybe because the weather was cold. A warning to the world! I was transiting through Shanghai in March and was planning to take a flight the next afternoon. I went for a walk around the Bund in the evening, but unexpectedly, I was approached and defrauded by two women. I wanted to do good deeds by treating their out-of-town friends to dinner, but they had ill intentions and took me to a restaurant they had set up as a trap. After the meal, the bill was 20,000 RMB, which was really exaggerated! I would like to urge everyone to be careful when traveling. If someone shows unwarranted kindness, he is either a crook or a thief!
