It was originally used to tell time, and because it is located at a commanding height, it is also a very good defense tower. This is also the only way to enter the town. It is currently open to the public, and there is also a small museum inside that introduces the history and culture of Sighisoara. Sighişoara A city in central Romania, located on the banks of the Târnava Mare River, a tributary of the Mureș River. It has a population of 36,000 (1983). It was a town in Transylvania in the 12th century and a famous handicraft city in the 14th century. Located in Transylvania, it has a long history of 850 years. Speaking of the Transylvania region of Romania, one has to mention its inextricable link with the German Saxons. The German name of the region is Siebenbürgen, meaning "seven cities," which is derived from the establishment of seven cities here by the Saxons sent to the region by the Principality of Hungary in the 12th century. Many places in Transylvania still retain their former German place names and street names. The architectural style is also clearly influenced by the Germans, and is similar to that of medieval German cities. Transylvania was originally an affiliated country of the Kingdom of Hungary, and became Romanian territory after World War I.

It was once used as the office of the parliament, and there are small quadrangular towers on the top of the clock tower. Now the tower houses the History Museum, and you can also climb to the top of the tower to overlook the fairytale-like red roofs of Sighisoara. Opposite the clock tower is the Tailors' Tower, the second gateway into the old town of Sighisoara. The Bootmakers Tower is less than 100m from the Tailors' Tower and features Baroque architecture.

Balkans 10-country tour - small town church tour|||Compared to the Balkans 10-country tour, Romania has the most time and attractions. Indeed, this country is fascinating, with an elegant atmosphere in both cities and villages. The scenery from Bucharest to the Carpathian Mountains is also breathtaking. Today, we visited two ancient towns in Romania - Sighisoara and Sibiu, with Sighisoara being a World Cultural Heritage site. The two ancient towns have many churches, mostly Orthodox, with ancient churches in the city having a rich history and culture, and the church bell towers forming a beautiful city skyline. The Evangelical Cathedral in Sibiu (4) is the most famous Gothic church in Sibiu, built between 1320 and 1520, with a spire over 73 meters high, the tallest building in the city. We climbed up to overlook the city, and the view was worth it! Inside the church is a large mural (5) painted by Johannes Rosno in 1445, marking the transition from late Gothic to Renaissance painting.
