Miaoli Xianshan Mountain Climbing & Food Fun
#MarchGoodPlaces2025
Xianshan is located at the junction of Xindian Village, Yongxing Village, Shitan Township, Miaoli County, Taiwan, and Penglai Village, Nanzhuang Township. It is one of the watersheds between the Nanhe River, a tributary of the Zhonggang River, and the Shitanchuan River (Xindian River), a tributary of the Houlong River. The peak is 967 meters above sea level and is one of the 100 Small Mountains in Taiwan. The view here is very good. To the north, you can see the ridgeline of the "Shenxian Vertical Trail" (from Shenzhuo Mountain to Xianshan Mountain), and to the south, you can see the southern peak of Xianshan Mountain in the distance.
The climb to Xianshan Mountain is not long. There is only a short section before the triangulation point to climb, which is a little difficult. However, the view from the top of the mountain is wide, and you can also see the mist and sea of clouds and the beautiful green mountain scenery.
The hiking trip is not long, but Xieling Palace and Lingdong Palace near the fairy mountain are famous temples that you can visit.
There is a regular market in front of Yundong Temple where you can try Hakka cuisine and bring back Hakka snacks such as mochi, vegetable buns, and grass jelly products. If you have time, you can also visit the Shitan Houjiao market; it will definitely drain your wallet.
