Ancient walk at St Albans Cathedral - history since 793 AD
Visiting this ancient town of St Albans, with history of St Albans Cathedral from 1033.
St Albans Cathedral is home to two medieval shrines, dates back 1700 years has enriched the small town’s history and traditions. It is now a popular location for immigrants from Hong Kong.
St Albans & Hertfordshire architecture is a gem to showcase the city’s medieval core 16th-century cottages with Georgian mansions alongside Arts and Crafts-inspired Edwardian villas.
These building compounds include St Peter’s Church which is a quiet little building at the entrance of the hustle-and-bustle of the vibrant city. Music concerts, performances & community events are often held in this restful church.
The Abbey and three early-medieval parish churches of ss Michael’s, Peter’s and Stephen’s, experienced Victorian improvement at the hands of Lord Grimthorpe and Sir George Gilbert Scott. Both architects carried out essential work to increasingly decrepit and dangerous fabric that ensured the churches remain important places of worship today.
Do find time to join walking tours to soak in history & architecture and you will appreciate how the predecessors have worked tirelessly to preserve these landmarks so that we can still enjoy the beauty inside these buildings. #Medievalart #Stalbans #uk #StAlbansCathedral

Strolling Through Time – My Visit to St Albans, England
#ancienttownvibes
Visiting St Albans was like uncovering a hidden layer of England’s history, where Roman ruins, medieval charm, and timeless traditions come together in one captivating city. Just a short journey from London, this historic gem offered a glimpse into the past while maintaining a lively, welcoming atmosphere.
My first stop was St Albans Cathedral, an architectural masterpiece that dominates the skyline. As I stepped inside, I was struck by the sheer scale of the towering nave, the longest in England. The blend of Norman and Gothic styles, along with the beautifully preserved medieval wall paintings, made it feel like I had entered a living museum.
Wandering through the city, I found myself in Verulamium Park, named after the ancient Roman settlement that once stood here. Walking along the remains of the old city walls and visiting the Roman Theatre, I could almost picture the bustling streets of Roman Britain. The Verulamium Museum further brought history to life with its fascinating mosaics and artifacts.
Beyond the historic sites, the city had a charming energy. The cobbled streets, lined with traditional pubs and quaint shops, made for a perfect afternoon stroll. I stopped at a local tearoom for a classic cream tea, savoring the quiet moments in a town that effortlessly blends the ancient with the modern.
St Albans is a place where history is woven into everyday life. Whether exploring Roman ruins, admiring medieval architecture, or simply soaking in the timeless atmosphere, my visit left me with a deep appreciation for this city’s enduring legacy.

Did someone say FREE FRIES?
#magicalxmastrip As a student, I loved heading to Chicken Shop—they’ve got this amazing deal where you get free fries all year round with any purchase! It’s such a great bonus, especially when their menu is already packed with so many tasty options. Whether I’m grabbing crispy chicken, a wrap, or a burger, those fries make it even better. Honestly, it’s my go-to spot for quick, affordable, and delicious food. You can’t beat free fries!

#churches
#churches love visiting churches in many different towns, cities and countries. Here is a mix between the UK and Italy. Also visited some beautiful churches in Belgium, France and the Netherlands. Such a quiet section of the world. I love taking the time out and reflecting. There is also so much beauty and detail to look at. The architecture, the artwork, the way the light streams through the windows!

Filming in St Albans!
Got the train to St Albans for work. Filming in the beautiful Verulamium Park. Lovely lake and incredible view of the cathedral. Ancient Roman ruins behind which were incredibly interesting. Just a short walk back up into town up the hill then back down the hill towards the train station. Highly recommend a visit to the park and incredible city. Great shops and cute cafes and lots of restaurants!
