Rhossili Bay, Gower Coast, Wales
The Gower peninsula has one of the UK's most picturesque coasts, with rugged little coves and large expanses of golden sand. At its western end, Rhossili Bay is a relatively untouched beach, a long, beautiful curve of white sand enclosed by steep limestone cliffs, with little on it other than the remains of Norwegian ship Helvetia, which was beached in 1887, sticking up out of the sand. It is big enough so that it never feels busy, particularly if you head for the northern stretch, down the track from the village of Llangennith, where the surfers go; and it has waves that are perfect for novice surfers and long-boarders.
Around the village of Rhossili itself is Dylan Thomas country, popular with walkers; and not far away is the town of Mumbles.
A romantic destination with an official seal of approval, Rhossili Bay is waiting for you
If you ask me which place can make people forget their worries and immerse themselves in nature, my answer must be Rhossili Bay.
When you arrive, a 3-mile-long beach stretches out before you, with fine sand that feels like a gentle embrace. The footprints you leave behind are like a secret message to the beach.
Clear waves crash onto the beach, creating layers of white foam, while a refreshing sea breeze blows through. In the distance, the sea and sky merge into an endless blue painting, with a few sailboats drifting leisurely like elves dancing on blue silk.
The beauty of Rhossili Bay is a soul-stirring shock. The ancient ruins by the sea stand silently, telling stories of the past, while the weight of history blends with the stunning sea view.
Not only is the scenery beautiful, but it's also a great outdoor paradise. Brave surfers ride the waves, showing off their skills, while hikers walk along the coastline, taking in the breathtaking views from different angles.
When night falls, lie on the beach and look up at the starry sky. The stars seem within reach, as if the whole universe is speaking to you. At Rhossili Bay, time seems to lose its meaning, leaving only inner peace and a deep attachment to the beautiful scenery.
The best beach in the UK is not in Cornwall
🌊In Wales, there is a breathtaking place - Rhossili Bay.
The beach stretches as far as the eye can see, with fine sand glistening in the sunlight✨. The blue sky and clear sea merge into one, as if you have entered a dreamland.
The waves keep crashing against the shore, making a pleasant sound🎶. Strolling along the beach, feeling the sea breeze, all your worries are left behind.
Rhossili Bay, a place that will make you linger, waiting for you to encounter this beauty.💕
Rhossili Bay

First time in the Gower and we headed straight for Rhossili bay, it is a stunning area and well worth a visit (or two. A lovely walk along the cliffs toward Wormshead gives you fantastic views so have your camera at the ready or if you go the other way you climb down the cliffs to the long sandy beach where you can walk and walk and walk, seemingly as if there is hardly anybody else around.
The area is National trust so the car part is free to NT members and there is a NT shop there for you to peruse before or after your adventure.
Take a picnic or eat in either the Wormshead hotel or one of the cafes there...plenty to choose from.
Its nice to just sit and enjoy the views at the top by the car park. Note that the climb to the beach is quite a trek down (and up) so make sure you are up to it before starting your journey down.
Plenty of photos on other reviews already...they speak for themselves.
We stayed just a couple of hours and just walked along the cliff and not down to the beach, but you still get great views/ experience. Quite busy even on a September weekday, but plenty of overflow parking. £3 for 2 hours. Pleasantly surprised to see the ponies wandering around the cliff, but by coincidence there is an article on BBC news today, that the farmer is considering removing them as some members of the public are being irresponsible, when taking pictures etc and frightening/stressing them. Plus problems with dogs and kids getting kicked by standing behind them.
Four different options for food/drink. A NT cate, a hotel/pub and two cafes.
Plus toilets.
