2025 Oxford Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in February)

#2024mapped Being home for one of the most prestigious university in the world, Oxford is also the easiest+cheapest city to visit from London: when planned ahead (even a few days would suffice), one-way trip costs as low as £5 and takes around 2hrs. That also means, Oxford is a perfect destination to do a day trip from London, instead of having to drag along some suitcases to a new hotel. That said, there is an unique accommodation option to stay in the university and wake up to have breakfast in the Great Hall featured in Harry Potter movies; so if you managed to get a slot (usually fully booked many months ahead), that’s a chance not to miss. Attraction-wise, I personally find Bodleian Library and Radcliffe Square most mesmerising, but really, the whole university town is not huge, but every corner is antique and could make an excellent photo spot. In terms of museums, most museum (if not all) are free-entry (but ticket might be needed), and natural history museum is my favourite.

#summerbankholiday Spending the Summer Bank Holiday in Oxford was an absolute dream! 🌞 This city is so rich in history and culture, it’s impossible to run out of things to do. I started my day wandering around the iconic Oxford University colleges, like Magdalen College and Balliol College, which were open to visitors for a small fee of around £7 each. The stunning architecture, manicured lawns, and peaceful courtyards were like something out of a movie. 🎓 Afterwards, I headed to the Ashmolean Museum, which, to my surprise, had free entry! The museum’s collection is incredible, with everything from ancient Egyptian artifacts to modern art. 🏺 For lunch, I grabbed a delicious sandwich at the Covered Market, which is filled with local food stalls, quirky shops, and lots of character. 🥪 In the afternoon, I took a relaxing punt along the River Cherwell. I foolishly bought the wrong ticket (Explore the Divinty School), thinking I could visit the Old Bodleian Library (Library room), but it turned out I could only enter the Divinty School. 😅😅 This place was previously used as an examination venue. The movie Harry Potter was also filmed here. Westgate Oxford is a major shopping centre in Oxford city centre, England, that was extensively remodelled and extended between 2016 and 2017. The original centre was built between 1970 and 1972. It’s a must visit for anyone around the city centre trying to find a good place to eat. I loved the smelling of history in Oxford as I was walking around the streets. I've been here for a one day symposium and decided to stay one more day to explore the city! The other day, early of the day I headed to Christ Church⛪, and to the path laying next to the river. Then I reached to the Radcliffe Camera, Bodleian Libraries🧑🏼‍🏫, Bridge Of Sighs, Museum of Ashmolean 🏛️. You should go to the Cornmarket and Queen roads for shopping and food options. You would see lot of #harrypotter 🧙🏻 shopping points and as well as souvenir shops.

There are lots of great cities to explore in the 🇬🇧 UK, but one of my favourite is Oxford. Oxford, The City 🌆 is famous the world over for its University and oxfordshire in history. For over 800 years, it has been a home to royalty and scholars. Nowadays, the city 🌃 is a bustling cosmopolitan town. Still with its ancient University, but home also to a growing hi-tech community. Many businesses are located in and around the town, whether on one of the Science 🧬 and Business Parks or within one of a number of residential areas.

Alpha bar is a fast foods stall in Covered Market ,Oxford.went for lunch and the foods is good.Seating is limited,so prefer takeaway.Portion is big and price is cheap.Service is fast too .Highly recommended

Lovely Victorian building.The history Faculty building on George Street has three seminar rooms,one lecture theatre and a computer lab available .An interesting astronomical clock on its facade .

AMT coffee is located outside St Micheal Church.Another brunch is in Oxford train station.Stop for a quick coffee,limiting seating outside.Very friendly and welcoming staffs.

Christ Church is the most famous college in Oxford,inspiring works such as Harry Potter and Alica in Wonderland.The ticket price is £16 for adult and you need to order online.Worth visiting as it’s beautiful and remarkable place.

Angrid Thai is famous among the university students because the price is reasonable and service is fast.Ordered pork meat with rice,big portion and delicious.will visit again

Cafe Nero Oxford is located at a very strategic place in Oxford,which is very near to Oxford bus station.The coffee quality is better,pastries also taste nicer and not too sweet.Reasonable price and staff’s service are fast too.Highly recommended.

It’s lovely and amazing garden was created in 1925.The garden is located at St Aldate’s Street, Oxford and is free .A pleasant area to walk in some green open spaces away from the crowded.Highly recommended.
