All Moments About Miskolc
A lovely day trip from Budapest
#myhiddengems
Miskolc is a small town which fits perfectly the idea of a day trip. While I did feel that another time when I return here, I might stay overnight. It's got a nice vibe. My trip was during Spring, so the weather was good. Generally, the warmer weather is nice for a walk around and enjoy the surrounding areas. During the summer time, one can also enjoy the waterpark found towards the southern part of the city near the thermal baths.
Now I terms of local attractions. You can start with the blue and brown wooden church which is located next to the cemetery. The church gives a Translyvanian feel through its architecture. Moving on I made a stop at the lovers bridge. It is a cute little bridge with lots of locks by couples securing the duration of their love. The locks are mounted, one on top of another. This is in the center of town and won’t take much time to see.
Next up and a highlight or the trip were the cave baths. The cave baths in my opinion are the star of Miskolc and a must visit if you find yourself in the area or passing by. It doesn’t matter if you visit during the summer or winter as there is an indoor and outdoor portion. The caves part is inside so you can visit it all year round. #myhiddengems #100waysoftravel #hungary #miskolc #summerdestination #daytrips #cherryblossom2024

🌸 SPRING HAS SPRUNG IN MISKOLC 🌸
Miskolc is a town in north-eastern Hungary that is noted for its heavy industry. Miskolc is Hungary's third largest city, with a population of almost 190,000. It is also the seat of Borsod-Abaj-Zemplén County and the Northern Hungary Region's regional center.
Miskolc is not a historical city, but its geographical location made it an important commercial center as early as the nineteenth century. Miskolc later became an industrial center as the country became more industrialized, thanks to the nearby coal and mineral mines.
in Spring, Miskolc is famous for cave baths, mountains adventure, trouts, and of course spring flowers! One of the famous spots to see cherry blossoms 🌸 is in the city centre in the Statue of Lajos Kossuth on Erzsébet square.
Japanese flowering cherry tree (Prunus Kanzan) lined on both sides offer a picture perfect spot to eat ice cream, read books, chat with friends, and of course tons of photo opportunities. 🌸💕🌷

🎄💫LIGHTS UP MISKOLC 💫🎄
Due to the coronavirus outbreak in Hungary last year, all Christmas markets were canceled. However, they have already opened in a number of locations this year, despite the fact that the fourth corona wave is raging throughout Europe, including Hungary.
Among the Christmas markets, there’s also one in Miskolc and it lights up the city with life! The numerous wooden huts sell horn cakes, bread cakes, sweets, snuff, handcrafted chocolate, honey, mulled wine, hot chocolate, tea, and other delights.

TRAVEL ON A SPECTACULAR GINGERBREAD TRAM🎄🚃
The Miskolc Advent tram, decked out in festive garb, Employees of the city's transportation organization adorned the tram with zeal (MVK). On the public transportation vehicle this year, the decorating resembles a gingerbread house.
The tram's unique characteristic is that its theme and decorations change every year, with new design features added. This year, the MVK employees created a delightful gingerbread house with a ‘Beauty and the Beast’ theme inside.
The festive feeling of the tram is completed by its exterior. Hundreds of meters of fairy lights, numerous light curtains, and 3D elements adorn the Advent vehicle. It feels like I was inside a moving Disneyland.

How to visit Hungary’s 8 national parks (Part 2)
Despite its small size, Hungary still has a lot to offer hikers!
⛺【Kiskunszager National Park】: The traditions of ancient Hungarians come alive in Kiskunszager National Park. Kiskunshag is home to salt flats, backwaters, and sand dunes. The famous Hungarian poet Petofen Sándor wrote glowingly about this region. These white-walled, thatched-roof houses are protected historical sites and faithfully guard a piece of the past. The unique setting of the Hungarian Great Plains, with its flat landscape stretching into the distance, grazing Hungarian grey horses and equestrian traditions, adds a unique charm to this land.
🚌【Danube-Ippoli National Park】: Danube-Ippoli National Park is famous for its unique flora and fauna and incomparable environment. This region is home to Hungary’s rich wildlife, and a lifetime is not enough to explore its towns, forests, meadows, and mountains. Be sure to visit all of its hidden natural treasures, including the Alqush Botanical Garden, Maultun Vashar Castle Park, the Birdsong Education Trail, and the Paar Valley Caves. Exploring the capital city of Budapest’s natural assets is also an adventure, with Gellert Hill and Eagle Hill being just out of reach in the crowded city centre, but that doesn’t stop them from being havens of tranquility.
👉【Bük National Park】: The beauty of this area is simply unimaginable. The roads leading to attractions such as Veil Waterfall, Lillofüred or Silvasvarod go deep into the forest and pass by trout lakes. If you visit the park in suitable weather, you can see the stunning geysers of Beek. After heavy rains, and especially after snowmelt, karst water rushes to the surface with a loud roar. In this national park you can learn about the rich history of the world-famous Lipizzaner horses. Diosgyel Castle and Raven Rock Village also await you for unforgettable adventures.
🧡【Hortobagy National Park】: Hortobagy National Park was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999. Spend the night on straw mats under the stars and wake up to the sound of galloping horses coming to their troughs; see water buffalo or learn how Hortobagy’s characteristic waterwheel works; watch impressive horsemen performances at sunset; observe blue-throated birds at Hortobagy fish ponds; take a jeep ride to see cranes; or gain insight into the daily life of local shepherds. The legendary Nine Arch Bridge on the edge of Hortobagy village along Route 33 is a must-see.
