Yaobu Ancient Town ( 窯埠古鎮) is located in Liuzhou, in southern China's Guangxi Province. To get here, you can take a bus or private car. It is also just as simple to take a taxi and drop off at the entrance next to the street. The best time to visit is in the evening, when the sun sets over the river and the lights on buildings become illuminated. Walking in, you are presented with the river on the right and a collection of people selling souvenirs and snacks. Keep walking ahead towards the main square, where everything is centered around a very impressive large pavillion that stand out amongst everything else. It is very photogenic from all angles and I liked this building alot. There are various small alleys to explore, with coffee shops, bars and restaurants selling local food and many other types of cuisine. You can also view and purchase traditional arts and crafts here too. You can visit here anytime of year, but spring and summer are the best times-although beware of mosquitoes. In winter it can get a little cold in the evening next to the river. Liuzhou Water Bus | See the waterfall for only 3 yuan 😎 If you're coming to Liuzhou, you must try the water bus! 👍 It's a super bargain—only 3 yuan for a half-hour sightseeing tour. 😉🧐 The waterfall is only open on weekends and holidays (take note! 👀). 😏🤔 Off-season operating hours: 7:00am - 5:00pm. 😕📆 Line 1: Departs every 30 mins, costs 3 yuan, runs from Nanchedum Wharf to Dongdi Wharf, and the tour lasts 30 mins. 😊🎉 Line 2: Departs every 60 mins, costs 3 yuan, runs from Nanchedum Wharf to Yaopu Ancient Town Wharf, and the tour lasts 20 mins. (Please refer to the on-site screen for the actual schedule, as peak season times may vary.) 😄😉 👉 When you arrive at Nanchedum Wharf, facing the Liujiang River after walking down the slope, the Line 1 queue is on your left, and the Line 2 queue is on your right. Both sides have temporary tents and plastic stools, so you can sit while waiting. 😎👍🤩 💡 Be sure to sit on the right side of the boat, as the waterfall is on the same side as the wharf, and both Line 1 and Line 2 pass by it. 😏💗😎 ⚠️ The water bus has limited seating, carrying about 30 people per trip. People queue up, about 30 in a line, and the bus departs every 30 minutes on the dot. 😕😟😱 I arrived at 2:30pm that day and queued for Line 1, sitting in the back of the second row. I thought I'd be on board within an hour, but boarding was closed by the time my turn came. 😖 I waited another half hour and finally boarded at 4:00pm. At least I got to choose my seat first, so I picked the one on the far right. We arrived at the final stop, Dongdi Wharf, at 4:30pm. If you want to return, you have to disembark and queue again. 😒🙄🤔 So, manage your time wisely. I recommend going early, especially since the nearby Liuzhou Industrial Museum closes at 4:00pm. 😏🏃‍♂️⏰ 😏 Finally, a little secret: The windows on the water bus can be opened! I initially thought they were fixed like on a regular bus, and my photos were reflecting the glass. I only realized people behind me had their windows open for photos after I'd finished taking mine. 😎🤭😄
