DAY 44: Kure was the most important shipyard of the Japanese Navy during the Pacific War in World War II. It was also the hometown of the famous "Yamato Battleship". With a total displacement of 69,100 tons, it was the largest battleship in history. The thickest part of the hull steel plate was 41cm. The ship was equipped with three guns with a total of nine barrels, with a maximum caliber of 46cm at the time.
