Sharing and Recommending Accommodation in Koh Chang, Thailand: Santhiya Tree Koh Chang Resort, near Klong Prao Beach ★ Koh Chang is the second largest island in Thailand. There are two ways to get there from Bangkok: by bus or by plane. This time, I chose to fly. Taking a bus from Bangkok station, then a ferry, and finally being dropped off at the hotel on Koh Chang takes about 5-6 hours in total, with a one-way cost of 800 TWD, including transportation, ferry fare, snacks, and drinks. Flying with Bangkok Airways, a round-trip ticket costs about 4000 TWD. However, from Trat Airport to the hotel, the local taxi fare is 500 THB per person. I sincerely recommend this hotel on Koh Chang. Compared to Phuket, Samui, or Pattaya, it is truly a great value for money. The hotel we stayed at was amazing, and every staff member was so lovely and enthusiastic! The hotel has two restaurants, one by the beach and one by the pool, with stunning views! Since the hotel is on a hillside, there is a free shuttle bus to the town, but it runs every two hours, which is a bit long. We joined a full-day private car tour arranged by the hotel (0800-1700), covering eleven attractions on Koh Chang, including the mangrove boardwalk and waterfall, which were fantastic! (The full-day car tour costs 4000 THB.) Many people arrange island hopping and diving tours, but we didn't have enough time this trip, so we'll save it for next time! ❤️ Pros: 1. The room is beautiful, 52 square meters, with a private small pool, mountain and river views outside, and the entire building is made of teak wood, with great attention to detail, almost like a work of art. 2. The breakfast is excellent, with a variety of delicious options! Enjoying it by the pool is a perfect atmosphere. 3. The resort is well-maintained and beautiful, with a private beach and thoughtful rinsing services by the beach. 4. The hotel's restaurant prices are affordable, and there are live singers performing on Saturdays. 5. The staff is excellent, whether in the lobby, courtyard, or restaurant. When I felt a bit hot while having breakfast (there's no air conditioning by the pool), I just turned my head, and a staff member immediately came to ask if I needed anything and quickly found a fan for me. Our room was right next to it, so we got go exploring. Unfortunately we couldn't get onto the ship but it's still awe inspiring. August and September is low season in Thailand and I was lucky enough to get cheap flight tickets and hotel in Thailand. I took 6 hours bus from Bangkok airport and arrived to this beautiful island. It supposed to be raining season, but all my 5 days holiday, rain was only during the night time. Price for hotels and restaurants cheaper then in Pattaya and Bangkok. But not much entertainment. #islands

Elephant Farm is located on the middle of the island, just opposite of the Centara Hotel Koh Chang. For 100 THB you can feed the elephants with sugar cane or pineapples. During the low season for 300 THB you can ride an elephant for 1 hour. During high season, price increase to 500 THB. But I don’t like to see elephants sad faces, so maximum I only can feed them. Farm also can arrange the transfer for you to your hotel for extra cost. #timetotravel

My summer vacation is about to end! For my last trip for this summer I choose Koh Chang island in Thailand. From Bangkok airport to the island, it takes me more then 6 hours trip by bus and by boat. For this stay I choose to stay in The Splash Hotel Koh Chang. Because now is still low season in Thailand, so include tax I paid around 300 HKD per night. I booked this hotel because I saw nice pictures on the internet. But the reality was sot so wonderful. Swimming pool was so small, breakfast so poor and zero activities to do. #Beachfront accommodation SYLVAN Koh Chang 🐘 This hotel is located on Koh Chang, Koh Chang District, Trat Province. 🚙Traveling from Bangkok, take the new Bangkok-Chonburi Motorway until you reach the Ban Bueng 1 toll booth, then turn left to Klaeng District, Rayong Province. Take Highway No. 344 until you reach Klaeng District, then turn left to take the city road No. 3648 and then cut to Sukhumvit Road, drive for another 110 km. Passing through Chanthuri Town, heading to Trat Province, after crossing the Welu River Bridge, you will notice a checkpoint for the pier before entering Trat Province. Go straight for a bit, there will be a sign for Koh Chang District. Turn right for about 30 km to Koh Chang Pier, Ao Thammachat, take Highway No. 3156, go straight for about 27 km, then turn right following the sign for Koh Chang Pier, Ao Thammachat. AWA Resort Koh Chang has a lovely façade. Entrance facing the main street so no need to walk through side streets. another side facing the sea which is great to watch the sunset. it got a great pool though water is a bit cool in January. breakfast is plentiful and starts from 7am to 1030am. Room service is quick on delivery, takes no more than 20 minutes. however, I asked for a quiet room on top floor. they gave me a room on the ground floor and can hear residents upstairs talking (in loud Cantonese), dragging chairs here and there and walking from one side of the room to another. Maybe the definition of “QUIET” and “TOP FLOOR” bear different meaning to AWA. Also, their wifi is so weak that it is practically not available. I asked the front desk and after waiting for an hour for a technician to come to my room to check it out, front desk told me the technician will check outside my room. but there is no difference after checking. overall, I think there are many resorts in Koh Chang. AWA is much over-rated. I will return to Koh Chang again but not to AWA
