Playing Sanxingdui backward is a whole new experience!
As a travel enthusiast, every new place I explore feels like a thrilling adventure. This time, at Sanxingdui, I discovered an amazing way to play—backward touring! The experience was so fantastic that I just have to share it with you!
🎫 Ticket Purchase
Don't be careless about tickets. Get them in advance through official channels🎫. Don't wait until you get there, especially during peak season, or you'll be stuck in line forever. Students, seniors, and others with special IDs, remember to bring your documents for potential discounts.
🕙 Entry Time
Most people rush in early, but not us! I chose to arrive around noon to avoid the morning crowds. The moment I got there, seeing everyone else still queuing, I strolled right in. It felt amazing😎.
🚶♂️ Backward Touring Route
🔸Bronze Hall → Comprehensive Hall
Most people visit the Comprehensive Hall first. We're doing the opposite! Head straight for the Bronze Hall. When I entered, it wasn't crowded, so I could fully appreciate the uniquely shaped bronzes. The Bronze Great Standing Figure was majestic, the bronze masks mysterious and eerie. With no one around, I could slowly observe every detail and take photos📸 without worrying about photobombers.
After immersing myself in the Bronze Hall, I went to the Comprehensive Hall. By then, most of the morning crowd had left, and it wasn't as packed. I could easily admire the exquisite artifacts, like the gold staff and jade zhang. Avoiding the crowds like this was incredibly comfortable.
🔸Special Exhibitions First → Then Permanent Exhibitions
Many people tend to see the permanent exhibitions first. We'll start with the special exhibitions. The items on display are usually unique and only available for a limited time, so seeing them first is the way to go. After that, visit the permanent exhibitions at your own pace. The whole experience becomes a treasure hunt full of surprises.
👩🏫 Guide Options
Many people rush to rent audio guides or hire tour guides upon entering. There's a better way. Sometimes, there are volunteer guides in the Bronze and Comprehensive Halls. They're knowledgeable and engaging. You can listen to them for a bit, and if you want more, rent an audio guide for a deeper dive. This saves money and offers a different experience.
🍔 Food Recommendations
After all that exploring, you'll need to refuel. There are many food stalls and restaurants near the Sanxingdui Museum. I recommend trying the local cold noodles. The noodles are firm, paired with spicy and flavorful seasonings and refreshing toppings. Each bite is super satisfying🥰. There's also bingfen, a bowl filled with fruits, nuts, and small glutinous rice balls. It's icy cold, perfect for cleansing your palate and quenching your thirst.
📸 Photography Tips
Taking photos is a breeze after avoiding the crowds. In front of the Bronze Great Standing Figure, any angle gives you a clean background. Inside the Comprehensive Hall, use the reflections in the glass display cases for creative shots. Remember, no flash photography to protect the artifacts. It's everyone's responsibility.
❗Important Notes
1. Even with backward touring, follow museum rules. Don't touch the artifacts and be respectful.
2. Entering at noon avoids crowds, but don't arrive too late, or you won't have enough time to see everything.
3. If you have a bag, keep an eye on your belongings. Be vigilant regardless of the crowd size.
Friends, try backward touring at Sanxingdui! Trust me, this unique approach will give you a whole new travel experience, leaving you feeling fulfilled.
