Gotemba was the perfect stopover for us between Osaka and Tokyo. We stopped in for the famous outlets, but ended up with some of the most beautiful views of Mount Fuji. We were incredibly lucky with the weather. Mount Fuji was right in front of us. We took tons of photos and videos. We went to Gotemba Premium Outlets not expecting much shopping. But the prices on sneakers were so good that we bought a couple of pairs each 😁😁😁. And if it weren't for the limited luggage, we would have bought even more. I won't go into the details of our purchases, but I'll just say that we ended up buying a sizable suitcase and filling it up nice and tight. Plus, we got a nice bonus: tax-free, which you can do in Japan right there at the checkout. And with the magnificent view of majestic Mount Fuji, strolling through the outlet became a special pleasure. This photo was taken from the outlet's terrace, where we were relaxing in comfortable chairs and admiring the snow-white peak of Mount Fuji against the bright blue sky. Gotemba is remembered as a place where beautiful scenery and great shopping combine perfectly. It's definitely worth a visit!

No matter how late you shop, you won't have to worry about finding a ride back because you can simply stroll straight back to your room! Plus, the rooms feature a huge window right above the headboard, so you can wake up to a beautiful morning greeting from Mt. Fuji. Heading back to Tokyo is also a breeze since it's close to the expressway, or you can easily catch a bus right from the outlets. Cons - It's better suited for itineraries focused on the Shizuoka side, as it's quite a drive from the Kawaguchiko area (about 1 hour by car).

My room this time faced Mount Fuji; opening the curtains revealed a panoramic view of the entire mountain. The bed was comfortable, with just the right firmness. There was ample space for the power switch. The room included a double sofa, coffee table, and room for two large suitcases. Additionally, the room provided bottled water, Ito En tea bags, and toiletries. The hotel has a large public bath, divided into indoor and outdoor sections. The outdoor bath offers views of Mount Fuji while bathing. Outside the public bath are a library, a relaxation area, and a small bar, allowing you to relax while enjoying the view of Mount Fuji. The buffet breakfast offered a wide variety of food, including cereals, salads, curry rice, bread, cheese, and drinks. Hotel CLAD offers an amazing stay with stunning views of Mount Fuji, especially from the rooms and onsen areas. Waking up to such a clear, unobstructed view was truly the highlight of the trip. The hotel is very reasonably priced for the view, quality, space, and experience you get, making it excellent value for money. The rooms are modern, clean, and comfortable, with large windows that really let you enjoy the scenery. The view from lobby is crazy beautiful. It’s also just next to Gotemba premium outlets! The private onsen is a big plus—perfect for relaxing in privacy while enjoying the peaceful surroundings. This is a newly opened hotel under the 7x7 brand. We were incredibly lucky to be assigned room 904! The room faces Mount Fuji, offering stunning views from both the bed and the bathroom!! The room is a spacious tatami room and a Western-style room!! You can easily lay your suitcase out!! The bathroom has two sinks, a washing machine with a dryer, laundry balls, a kitchenette with dishes and a microwave. Perfect for friends and families!! The price is also very reasonable! We booked two nights for two people for less than 60,000 yen! (Booked two months in advance!!) It's about a 10-minute drive from Gotemba, highly recommended for those going to Gotemba Premium Outlets! There's a sauna (for a fee) and a free gym on the first floor. The gym seems special; the oxygen levels are set according to the high-altitude oxygen levels, doubling the workout effect. If you're interested, you can check it out. The two of us were completely out of breath after just 10 minutes of exercise! 🤣 However, since there aren't many good restaurants nearby, I suggest eating your fill at Gotemba Premium Outlets before coming back. Stayed at Hotel Clad Gotemba — loved the Mt Fuji view room! It comes with free public onsen access and is only 3 mins walk to Gotemba Premium Outlets. There’s a complimentary shuttle bus between the outlet and Gotemba Station (do check the timing!). Gotemba sits nicely between Mt Fuji and Hakone, making it a great base. Day 1: Arrived in Gotemba, checked in, relaxed at the hot spring, and shopped at the outlets. Day 2: Spent the whole day at Mt Fuji. I used the Fuji-Hakone 3-Day Pass — it covers buses, subways, and entrances to many attractions in both areas. Make sure to catch the last shuttle bus back to the hotel! Day 3: Checked out and used the hotel’s luggage delivery service to send my bags back to Tokyo (super convenient!). Then enjoyed a full day in Hakone before heading back to Tokyo with the same pass. After realizing we couldn't see Mount Fuji from the Nikawa Watch Shop, we decided to head straight to Gotemba, where we could enjoy a close-up view of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Mount Fuji 🥳 Gotemba Premium Outlets is Japan's largest outlet mall in terms of area, featuring a wide variety of brand stores. However, having just returned from an outlet shopping spree in Hawaii, the discounts here didn't feel as impressive. We wandered around for less than half an hour before deciding to find a restaurant to eat 😂 Gyukatsu Motomura seemed quite popular, and since there was no line, we took a number and were seated right away! The restaurant only serves fried beef cutlet set meals, available in three sizes. We ordered the sets with one and two pieces of beef cutlet. Our meals were served in less than ten minutes 👍 The set meals were quite hearty, with various side dishes included. One highlight was the delicious grated yam served with barley rice, which you can get a free refill of! The fried beef cutlet is cooked to medium rare, but you can use the hot stone on the table to heat it to your preferred doneness. Even when cooked to well-done, the beef remains incredibly tender and delicious! This was my first time trying fried beef cutlet, and it exceeded my expectations. The only downside was the strong smell of oil in the restaurant, which was a bit overwhelming. On a sunny morning, I arrived in Gotemba, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, and checked into the renowned Gotemba Klas Hotel. Known for its prime location and luxurious amenities, this hotel is an ideal choice for enjoying scenic views and shopping. As soon as I stepped into the Gotemba Klas Hotel, I was greeted by the modern design of the lobby, complemented by warm lighting that made me feel right at home. The rooms were not only spacious but also featured floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing me to overlook the magnificent Mount Fuji from the balcony. Every morning, I could bask in the sunlight and enjoy this natural masterpiece, feeling the essence of nature. The room was fully equipped with all the necessary amenities. The comfortable bed and luxurious bathroom provided a relaxing space. In the evening, I dined at the hotel's restaurant, savoring exquisite Japanese cuisine with flavors so delightful that they lingered in my memory. After resting at the hotel, I decided to visit the nearby Gotemba Outlet for some shopping. If you buy too much to carry, you can easily return to the hotel to drop off your items and continue shopping—super convenient! Plus, every room offers a view of Mount Fuji (weather permitting). We were lucky to have clear skies, and waking up to the full view of Mount Fuji from our window was breathtaking. We couldn’t stop taking photos! ♨️Surprising Hot Springs Although not very large, the open-air bath offers a direct view of Mount Fuji! Soaking in the hot springs while watching the sunset and mountain scenery in the evening was incredibly healing. After the bath, enjoy a chilled Yakult—it’s so refreshing! 🍴Delicious Breakfast The buffet breakfast includes both Japanese and Western options. Don’t miss the freshly made tamagoyaki and Shizuoka-grown melons! The bread section even features baguettes from the popular outlet store "Briant," which you can use to make melon sandwiches (a hidden gem taught by locals). 💡Tips 1. Remember to bring swimwear! The rooftop foot bath allows casual wear, but the main bath requires full nudity. 2. The hotel offers a free shuttle to Gotemba Station, but the schedule is limited, so confirm the details when booking. 3. I must say… 🚌travelling around with the sightseeing pass was easy. You can get a map at Kawaguchiko station then decide which location you would like to visit. Here are the 2 passes! 1️⃣ The north area pass covers Lake Kawaguchiko, Lake Motosu, Lake Saiko and Lake Shoji. 2️⃣ The east area pass covers Lake Yamanakako. You can purchase the passes at the counter or via Japan Transit app! First, Peace Park, where you will be captivated by its pure white pagoda, like a Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia! This park is centered around the white stupa that houses a portion of Shaka's bones, donated by the late Indian Prime Minister Nehru, and features a Buddhist dojo, a Kannon statue, and 33 Kannon statues. On a clear day, you can see the large Mt. Fuji directly behind you, but unfortunately it was hidden when I went there. The second spot is Goryu Falls. It is a series of five waterfalls that flow down a lava cliff about 100 meters wide and 12 meters high, and is designated as a natural monument of Shizuoka Prefecture. There is also a suspension bridge, and you can view the waterfall from it, which is recommended☺️ The third is Komakado Wind Cave✨ This tunnel was created by the eruption of Shin-Fuji about 10,000 years ago, and you can enter it about 150m deep.
