2025 Dhaka Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in July)
Noisy, chaotic, and bustling are just three words to describe this traffic-jammed, energetic city - - one that can easily overwhelm the unprepared visitor. But to fit in , you must dive into. Embrace the chaos: jump on the back of a rickshaw, take a boat ride along the Buriganga River (where water traffic is nearly as congested as the roads) , and step into the first overflowing restaurant you saw. To escape (a bit ) , You can lounge around one of the city's impressively green parks, tap into your own spirituality at a mosque or Hindu temple, or explore a museum - - the city's arts and history scene is thriving and beautifully reflective of Bengali culture.

A Relaxing Stay at InterContinental Dhaka
#postandearn
During my recent visit to Dhaka, I stayed at the InterContinental Dhaka, and it was the perfect blend of comfort, elegance, and convenience in the heart of the city. Located near Ramna Park and the National Museum, the hotel offers easy access to Dhaka’s cultural sites while providing a peaceful escape from the city’s bustle.
The rooms are spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed with modern amenities and beautiful city or pool views. The outdoor pool and garden area offer a calm spot to unwind, and the gym facilities are well-maintained for travelers who want to keep up their routine.
Travel Tips:
Request a room with a park view for a calming atmosphere in the mornings.
The pool area is lovely for relaxing in the afternoons, especially if you need a break from Dhaka’s traffic.
The location is ideal for exploring Ramna Park, Bangladesh National Museum, and the vibrant areas of Shahbagh on foot or by rickshaw.
Book your airport transfer in advance to avoid last-minute hassle, as Dhaka traffic can be unpredictable.
InterContinental Dhaka is a great choice if you’re looking for comfort, reliable service, and a central location while exploring the vibrant energy of Bangladesh’s capital.

Dhaka, Bangladesh | Take a ride to the city scenery for 90 yuan! Rampura ferry is my favorite mode of transportation in Bangladesh
The transportation experience you can't miss when you come to Bangladesh is taking the Rampura ferry! We chose seats with air conditioning, and the ticket price was only about NT$90, which was super cheap. Although I thought it was just an ordinary means of transportation at first, I didn't expect the whole boat trip to be super comfortable.
The river breeze was cool and the scenery was open, which swept away the fatigue of being sweaty and scared in the bus. From time to time, you can see local residents rowing small boats passing by, just like a movie scene. Compared to crowded roads and buses with constant honking, this ferry trip is not only comfortable, but also makes people feel closer to local life. It is highly recommended for travelers visiting Bangladesh for the first time.
Recommendation reasons:
① The air-conditioned ticket price is about NT$90, which is cost-effective and comfortable
② You can overlook the river view of Dhaka city and the rich life style along the coast
③ The trip is stable and suitable for travelers who like a relaxed pace

As soon as
As soon as we stepped onto the platform of Dhaka's busiest train station, we were like the protagonists illuminated by spotlight, and everyone around us looked at us at the same time. This is not a tourist attraction, but it is more real than anywhere else.
Whether it is passengers sitting on the ground, workers carrying sacks, or even young children, everyone looked at us curiously, without any hesitation. It was not a warning, but a simple and friendly gaze.
In just a few minutes, several strangers approached us and asked us where we were from with a smile. Some people waved enthusiastically to welcome us to Bangladesh. I never thought that a seemingly chaotic station would hide such a strong human touch. Even though we don't speak the same language, these looks and greetings directly bring us closer to this city
Recommendation reasons:
① Dhaka Railway Station is a space full of vitality, allowing people to feel the most primitive rhythm of the city
② The locals are enthusiastic and proactive, and you can feel full of kindness and warmth in just a few minutes
③ Suitable for deep travelers and photography enthusiasts, capturing the unique atmosphere and human interaction in South Asia

Bangladesh|Donuts In Gulshan-2, this dessert paradise is hard to leave
The King’s Confectionery branch hidden in Gulshan-2! This is not just a dessert shop, but more like a dream journey for sugar lovers.
As soon as you step into the door, the full aroma of cakes immediately surrounds you. The cakes, puffs, and macarons in the glass cabinet are colorful and cute, and each one is like a work of art. Whether you like rich chocolate or light fruit flavors, you can satisfy them all here.
The inner dining area is bright and spacious, making it the best choice for couples to date, friends to get together, or to relax alone. The key point is that the price is affordable and the CP value is very high

Bangladesh|Exaggerated portions that even locals can’t finish. Fried rice and fried noodles are served at once and you’ll be shocked! Don’t miss this restaurant
This time I came to the Hotel Victory restaurant in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. I originally just wanted to have some fried rice and fried noodles. I didn't expect to be dumbfounded when it was served. The portion was basically for two or three people. It's no exaggeration to say that one person can't finish it!
Not only is the portion amazing, but the taste is also a pleasant surprise. The fried rice is distinct and fragrant. The service staff is friendly and the food is served quickly. It is a good choice when you want to eat something familiar during your trip.
If you happen to be in Dhaka, you might as well try the fried rice and fried noodles combination of this hotel restaurant. Remember to do what you can before ordering, it's really easy to not finish it!

Bangladesh|Waffle Up is a dreamy waffle shop that locals love.
This pancake shop is hidden in a quiet building in the Dhanmondi district. It looks low-key, but once you open the door, you will see a colorful and healing world. The walls are brightly colored and the decorations are playful and cute. Once you walk in, your mood will instantly improve, as if you are in a dessert paradise.
I ordered a fruit cream pancake. The color is super eye-catching. The texture is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. With rich cream and fresh fruit, every bite is a taste of happiness. This shop is not only photogenic and delicious, but also makes people want to come again and again. Even on weekdays in the afternoon, many local young people come to line up.

Bangladesh|It’s packed even on weekdays! Tabaq Coffee attracts locals every day
In a busy and vibrant city like Dhaka, there is a cafe hidden on the fifth floor of a shopping mall. It is crowded with locals on weekday evenings. You will miss it if you don’t come and experience it yourself!
This Tabaq Coffee located in Jamuna Future Park looks low-key from the outside, but once you enter the store, the painted murals on the wall immediately attract your attention. With dim lighting and wooden decoration, the atmosphere is warm and relaxing. The point is that almost every table has guests. Whether it is a gathering of friends, a date or personal laptop work, everyone chooses to come here
Recommendation reasons:

Bangladesh|This all-you-can-eat restaurant in Dhaka has a very comfortable environment and is better than all the food near the tourist attractions!
After visiting Lalbagh Fort, I was hungry, so I went to Buffet Heaven on the second floor opposite. It was really a pleasant surprise. The dining area is clean and bright, the service staff is friendly and polite, the seats are spacious, and the best thing is that there are many choices of food, whether you want to eat local flavors or international flavors.
There are also many cakes and fruits in the dessert area, which are replenished quickly and freshly. This quality would cost at least 500 in Taiwan, but the price here is very affordable. Recommended for travelers who come to Dhaka and want to find a comfortable environment for dining, you must try it!

Bangladesh|What a surprise! Meet a luxury date brand from the Middle East in the wealthy area of Bangladesh
My Arab friend once gave me dates, and I was impressed by their sweet but not greasy taste. This time, I was walking in the wealthy area of Dhaka and accidentally found the store of the luxury brand Bateel, and was immediately attracted to it.
The decoration is high-quality, and the packaging of the dates is also super exquisite. Because Bangladesh is an Islamic country, there are many Middle Eastern cultural elements on the streets, such as desserts, clothing and language, which make me feel familiar and fresh. It is really touching to taste the taste of memory in a foreign place.

① The brand comes from the Middle East, and the quality is guaranteed
② High-end dessert experience limited to the wealthy area

The moment
The moment I walked into the lobby of the Westin Dhaka Hotel, I was shocked by the tall and spacious lobby in front of me. The golden words MUBARAK were placed high at the entrance. It turned out to be Eid al-Adha! We are so lucky to experience the most important festival in the local area
The hotel is located in the wealthy area of Gulshan. Not only is the building magnificent, but the street view is also very clean and quiet, which is completely different from the scene we just bumped all the way from the suburban bus station
From the moment you step into the door, you can feel the impact of the reality of the gap between the rich and the poor, but it also makes people cherish the tranquility and grandeur in front of you. For me, the most interesting thing about traveling is often such cultural contrast and festive atmosphere, which is worth recording

Bangladesh | Dhaka souvenirs. Find treasures in the hipster shops. Must-buy Bangladeshi handmade souvenirs. Get magnetic clothes at once.
#5月好去处2025
Jatra Biroti is not only a good place to drink tea, but also an art and cultural shop full of Bengali culture. After dinner, we walked in casually and unexpectedly found that there were many handicrafts for sale here, including local clothes, magnets, accessories, etc., which were full of design and inexpensive. I picked a few magnets and a piece of ethnic clothing as travel souvenirs, which I think are particularly meaningful.
If you like souvenirs with a bit of cultural depth, you really can't miss this place.

Dhaka | A five-star hotel has reserved breakfast for everyone! The morning after I checked into Grand Palace was so quiet that it was a little unreal
On the morning of the trip, we walked into the breakfast area of Grand Palace Hotel & Resorts Dhaka and found that there was no one else in the restaurant. The whole space belonged to us alone, and we instantly felt like we had reserved the place for ourselves.
In a densely populated country like Bangladesh, it is rare to have such a quiet morning. Although the breakfast options are not particularly rich, the freshly made egg dishes, fresh fruits and a few hot dishes still made us full.

Bangladesh | Dhaka's personal experience of cultural shock. Taking a long-distance bus in Bangladesh for the first time. Come to Sayedabad Terminal to experience the chaotic and real rhythm of travel.
Arriving at Sayedabad Bus Terminal in Dhaka, I really felt what order in chaos is. As soon as I stepped off the bus, I saw a busy scene in front of me, with buses parked everywhere, whistles blaring one after another, and the air was mixed with the smell of diesel and dust. It was completely different from the clean and bright environment of Taipei Transfer Station, with clear signs and information counters.
There is no electronic timetable or unified ticket window here, only small counters and waiting areas set up by each bus company.
I already knew that this kind of place cannot be played by the rules. So I was not surprised at all, but felt that this chaos itself was part of the journey. There is no fixed departure time here. The driver will wait until the seats are full and the tickets are sold out before leaving. There is no broadcast to call the number, and it all depends on the tacit understanding of the locals.
The journey took about three hours. From departure to arrival, the driver was like a racer, stepping on the accelerator to the bottom and honking the horn to the blast. The whole journey was like a life-or-death situation. The horns never stopped. My eardrums wanted to give up several times.
There was no air conditioning on the bus, only a few shaky small electric fans. At that time, I had to keep hypnotizing myself: this is a very rhythmic Bangladeshi music.
The driver often went against the flow and overtook on the way. Every time he suddenly changed lanes, I wondered if I should buy insurance. Although I was really afraid of accidents, fortunately I arrived safely in the end. It was also a special experience that will be unforgettable.

Bangladesh | Staying in a five-star hotel but being the only guest Experience the ultimate quiet and luxurious night in Bangladesh
In Bangladesh, where the economic level is very different, there are actually many high-end five-star hotels designed for business travelers. We chose to stay at Grand Palace Hotel & Resorts Dhaka this time. As soon as we entered the hotel, we first went through a strict security check procedure. After confirming that we were not carrying any dangerous items, we entered the high-ceiling lobby.
The security guards on site kindly received us and guided us upstairs to check in. They also took us to visit the hotel facilities. This kind of service really made us feel at home.
The room itself is not big, but it is complete overall. Whether it is the comfort of the bed, the cleanliness of the bathroom or the sound insulation effect, it is very satisfactory. What surprised us the most was that we were the only guests in the hotel that night. The whole floor was quiet, as if we had reserved the place. The feeling of enjoying the five-star treatment was super special.
Although the outside was a bustling and chaotic city rhythm, walking in here was like switching to another parallel world. It is worth recommending to travelers who want to find a quiet space.

Bangladesh | Dhaka at 9 PM craving good tea?
After dinner in Dhaka, the evening temperature finally became more comfortable. We started looking for a place to relax and enjoy a cup of local tea. That’s when we discovered Jatra Biroti, a tea house that truly caught my attention.
The interior is spacious, offering various seating areas, from cozy sofas to a small outdoor balcony. The atmosphere is warm with a touch of artsy vibes, making it perfect for chatting with friends or enjoying some quiet time alone.
The highlight was their Bangladeshi milk tea—rich in tea aroma, with a hint of spices that linger pleasantly. After the first sip, I couldn’t resist asking if I could buy some tea leaves to take home. The place wasn’t crowded, the lighting was cozy, and we ended up staying for over an hour, not wanting to leave.

Dhaka | Bangladesh is so hot, is eating a ball of ice cream a luxury? One ball costs 100 yuan, which is really not cheap considering the local prices, and there are long queues
The high temperature in Bangladesh makes people doubt life as soon as they go out. We decided to rush into Mövenpick to cool down with a scoop of ice cream. As a result, we were dumbfounded when we saw the price. A scoop of ice cream starts at NT$100. Although it may not be expensive in Taiwan, if measured by the prices in Bangladesh, it is definitely a high-cost dessert.
What's more surprising is that the scene is full of locals. Many families bring their children to enjoy this scoop of cold happiness on holidays, which shows that such enjoyment is not only a way to cool down for them, but also a luxurious sense of ritual.
The hot afternoon also makes us re-recognize the other side of this city.

Bangladesh|Looking for dinner after 9pm in Dhaka? City Pizza opened by a local brother in Bangladesh amazed me. The crust is chewy and warm. This shop is really not to be missed.
After eating local food for several days in Dhaka, I really want to change my taste.
It was around 9pm that night, and many shops on the street were closed. I accidentally found this City Pizza, which was open until 11pm, and decided to give it a try. I didn't expect to feel the atmosphere was very warm as soon as I entered. The store was small but very clean.
I ordered a freshly baked pizza. I originally just wanted to eat a quick meal, but I didn't expect the crust to be super elastic and moist, which really surprised me. Later, the boss and his brother came out to greet us warmly. After a few words, you can feel their dedication and pride in the store.

Lalbagh Fort: A Relaxing Escape in Dhaka
Tickets at Lalbagh Fort in Dhaka show a stark difference in price between locals and foreigners, but the fort is more suited for leisurely strolls and relaxation rather than admiring grand architecture.
When visiting Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, many tourists plan a trip to the historic Lalbagh Fort. The ticket prices highlight the disparity: locals pay only 200 Taka, while foreigners are charged 400 Taka.
Entering the fort's grounds might remind you of India's Taj Mahal, but the overall scale and design are much simpler. What truly captivates visitors, however, is the expansive lawn filled with locals enjoying picnics, chatting, children running around, and adults engaging in lively conversations—an atmosphere brimming with everyday life.
Although the fort may not be as grand or awe-inspiring as expected, it offers a genuine glimpse into Dhaka's daily life. A peaceful afternoon stroll here is well worth the visit.

Bangladesh | The Westin Dhaka's luxurious breakfast costs 1,175 TWD?
I finally understand what the gap between the rich and the poor is
The Westin Dhaka's restaurant environment is elegant, but the price is indeed high. For example, the breakfast buffet costs BDT 4050 per person (equivalent to about NT$1,200), which is already a very luxurious consumption for most residents of Bangladesh. Most of the people who can come here to eat are foreign tourists or local upper-middle-class people, which makes this place a microcosm of the social class gap
It is already a level that ordinary families can hardly afford. No wonder there were almost no other guests in the entire restaurant when we had dinner that day
But if you are a tourist, or want to experience high-quality service and a quiet and comfortable dining space, this is indeed a highly recommended choice. Each dish is beautifully presented
Recommendation reasons:
① Located in the safest and most prosperous wealthy area in Dhaka, the environment is high-end and safe
② The atmosphere of the hotel restaurant is noble and elegant, but the price is acceptable to foreigners
③ The food is exquisite, with exotic and authentic elements, suitable for all tastes

Bangladesh | Unboxing my first flight on Bangladesh Airlines! The plane was so hot it felt like there was no air conditioning on?
This time when we went to Bangladesh, we chose to take Bangladesh Airlines. We wanted to try the local airline experience. We didn't expect to feel the cultural difference as soon as we got on the plane!
First of all, when we stepped into the cabin, we were really surprised - why was it not cold at all? Isn't it cold enough to wear a coat when taking an international flight? But Bangladesh Airlines was really hot, as if the plane didn't have air conditioning turned on. The whole cabin was so hot that I immediately sweated, but when I looked back, the passengers on the plane were actually used to it, sitting and chatting as if nothing had happened. I can only say that the people of Bangladesh are really heat-resistant!
The model is relatively small and simple, and the overall equipment is not new, but the basic equipment is still available, such as pillows and cushions, and the seat spacing is barely acceptable. The attitude of the flight attendants is quite satisfactory, and the language is mainly Bengali and English.
The meals are mainly local flavors, and the spices are heavier, but the taste is actually acceptable. If you are not usually averse to Asian spices, you should be used to it. The flight process was very smooth, without too much turbulence, and there was still a sense of security.
This experience is really special. Not only the temperature of the plane impressed me, but also I felt the local culture. If you are an adventurous traveler, you might as well try Bangladesh Airlines; but if you are afraid of heat, remember to wear something cooler before boarding the plane, and don't expect air conditioning to help you cool down.

We came to
We came to Paturi Restaurant in the wealthy area. We originally expected that the prices in the wealthy area would be high, but we didn't expect that this restaurant not only had a very comfortable environment, but also had very affordable prices. The overall style is warm and simple, with soft lighting and spacious seats, which is very suitable for sitting down to have a meal and chat.
We ordered several local dishes, each of which retained the authentic flavor, especially the use of spices was just right, not too heavy. The most considerate thing is that you can pay by credit card here, so you don't have to worry about cash issues. It is very convenient for tourists who want to pay easily during their travels. Overall, it is a high-CP value restaurant with both texture and local flavor. Highly recommended!

Bangladesh | Things to note when transiting in Qatar + Bangladesh airport departure test! Things you must know before going abroad
#5月好去处2025
This return trip from Bangladesh gave me a new experience of the local airport process, and I wrote it down to remind you who are about to depart.
At Dhaka International Airport in Bangladesh, you have to queue up to check your passport and boarding information before entering the airport gate, which is very different from the Taoyuan Airport we are familiar with. In other words, before entering the terminal, you have to go through a physical inspection, and everyone has to show their passports and flight information.
On that day, we encountered a whole row of passengers queuing at an entrance and exit. In fact, there is more than one gate on site. If you find that the entrance is crowded, it is recommended to go around to another gate and try it. In many cases, it will be much faster!
In addition, it is recommended that everyone arrive at the airport at least 3 hours in advance, otherwise you may be stuck at the first checkpoint before entering the airport. Unlike most international airports, you can drag your luggage and go through the procedures as soon as you enter the gate. There are manual inspections and security procedures at each checkpoint. The overall process is slower, and it is really safer to arrive a little earlier.
Although the overall facilities are simple, Qatar Airways' transfer service is still very good. Remember to make good use of the rest space in the terminal, or walk around. The overall movement lines and indicators are clear.

Holiday Inn Dhaka City Centre surprised me with how affordable and convenient it was for a short city getaway. I booked a one-night stay through an app promotion and paid just under 9,000 BDT — including breakfast, rooftop pool access, and free Wi-Fi. For a central location in Dhaka’s business district, it’s an excellent deal.
The hotel is within walking distance of the National Museum, Ramna Park, and several cafés and local restaurants. The rooms were clean, quiet, and modern — and the rooftop pool area offered a peaceful escape from the busy city below. The breakfast buffet had a great mix of local and international dishes, which made the morning even better.
Even if you’re not planning to stay overnight, the restaurant and lounge area are great for meetups or coffee. With smart booking and off-peak timing, you can enjoy four-star comfort in the heart of Dhaka without stretching your travel budget. Highly recommended for solo travelers, business trips, or couples looking for a safe and comfortable city stay!
Affordable Luxury in Dhaka: Renaissance Gulshan Experience
Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel offers one of the most stylish stays in the city — and with a little planning, it can fit a smart traveler's budget too. Keep an eye out for weekend packages or holiday offers, and you can enjoy five-star service without breaking the bank.

InterContinental Dhaka may be one of the top luxury hotels in the city, but with the right timing and smart planning, it's possible to experience five-star comfort without overspending. I booked a stay during a special weekend offer and paid under 9,000 BDT, which included a beautiful room, breakfast buffet, and access to the rooftop pool and gym.
The location is central — near Ramna Park and Dhaka’s cultural spots — so I was able to explore nearby attractions on foot or with cheap rickshaw rides. The staff was welcoming, and the breakfast alone was worth the price — a huge variety with both local and international options.
If you’re not planning an overnight stay, you can still visit the hotel’s café or enjoy a lunch buffet, which gives you a taste of luxury without the full cost. One Day in Dhaka: Chaos, Culture & Colors of the Capital
My day trip to Dhaka was fast-paced, colorful, and packed with local flavor — a perfect taste of Bangladesh’s vibrant capital! 🇧🇩
The morning began with a visit to the historic Lalbagh Fort, a 17th-century Mughal fortress that gave me a glimpse into the city’s rich past. The peaceful gardens and old architecture offered a moment of calm in the heart of the bustling city. 🏰
Next stop was Ahsan Manzil, the iconic pink palace along the Buriganga River. Walking through its museum gave me insight into the lavish lifestyle of Dhaka’s Nawabs and the colonial era. 🕌
Lunchtime meant diving into local flavors — I tried an authentic biriyani at a famous local restaurant (because what’s a trip to Dhaka without it?). 😋
In the afternoon, I explored the chaos and charm of New Market and Nilkhet — perfect spots for picking up unique books, clothes, and street snacks. I also squeezed in a quick boat ride on the Buriganga River, which offered a unique perspective of the city’s pulse.#travel#dhaka
The day wrapped up with a sunset stroll around Hatirjheel Lake, where locals were out walking, jogging, and enjoying the breeze. A calm finish to an otherwise thrilling day. 🌇
Though just a short visit, Dhaka left a lasting impression — full of contrasts, energy, and stories waiting to be discovered.
