Water conservancy projects designed by the Spanish
Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region)
It has nothing to do with the Roman aqueduct, but is a relic of a hydraulic project from the late Middle Ages, around the 13th-14th century, built to provide water to the inhabitants of Morella at the time. Its Gothic-style aqueduct with pointed arches is spectacular and well preserved. It is worth stopping briefly when leaving the city to admire the beauty of the city and take a photo with Cape Moreira in the background, which can create a spectacular photo.

Morella is an outstanding example of a Gothic city and has been declared a cultural heritage site.
Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region)
The first thing that catches your eye is the castle and the medieval city walls, which were built in the 14th century. The Old Town has notable churches such as the Gothic Church of Santa María Archpriest (1263-1330) with Baroque details; the Old Monastery of San Francisco (13th century); the Church of San Juan (15th century), Gothic with neoclassical decorations; and the Church of San Nicolás, also Gothic; as well as the monasteries of San Marcos and San Pedro Martir.
In terms of civil architecture, it is worth mentioning the Casa de la Villa (14th and 17th centuries), the houses of Ciurana, Piquer, Rovira and Cardenall Ram, and the Old Hospital (15th century).
Strolling through the stepped streets and arcades of Blasco de Aragon, looping the hill along the Alameda and admiring the medieval aqueduct of Santa Lucia are important ways to get to know the city.
The city of Morella has two standout attractions: the cave paintings of Morella La Vella and the shrine of La Virgen de Vallivana. Every six years since 1673, the Virgin Mary is carried in procession through the city. There are many chapels along the road where pilgrims pray and offer prayers during the 22 km walk.

The only building in the city that is open regularly
Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region)
Located in the oldest part of town, next to the old neighborhood of La Moreria and at the foot of the Castle of Islamic origin. The building occupies the ancient Casa de la Vila and retains the 15th-century Gothic arches of the old market.
The exhibition space is divided into three floors and focuses on the inscribed milestones of the Roman period, the ruins of Tossal de les Forques from the Iberian period and the Socarrats from the Andalusian period.
The museum organizes guided tours to different historical and cultural sites in the town.

A church that is open only at certain times
Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region)
The church dates back to the 16th and 18th centuries. I've only visited it from the outside. I hope to see inside soon. As usual, all churches in Castellón are closed, except during worship times. Only during worship time can you enjoy the history and culture of the church. This corner of Boriole is worth a visit. In front of the church we have an ethnographic museum.

Borriol Castle is currently closed to the public
Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region)
As a nature and mountain lover, you can walk until you reach the vicinity of the castle. The route is marked and it is a fairly steep climb but once you reach the castle gates the views are worth it. You must be in good physical condition to complete this route.

Aristocratic holiday home in Valencia
Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region)
The classic villa was built in 1879 due to Benicàssim's magnificent coastal views and its favorable climate.
The sunlit coastline of the Mediterranean Sea is striking for its blue waters. This is the ideal place for every family to spend an unforgettable holiday, relax and enjoy the surroundings. This is true today, but it was also true in past centuries. At the end of the 19th century, Joaquín Coloma Grau was the promoter of a unique summer area characterized by charming and elegant residences that began to attract the high society of Valencia and Castellón at the time. The coastal area of Benicàssim is dotted with these famous villas and was once known as "Little San Sebastian" or "Biarritz of Valencia".

The Church of San Bartomeu de Benicarló is a historical and architectural gem

Its magnificent Baroque façade and intricately carved details bear witness to the city's rich history. The interior of the church is equally impressive, with elegant vaulting and an ornate altar. It is a place of peace and reflection, ideal for a cultural or spiritual journey. Don’t forget to admire the colorful stained glass windows that fill the space with a divine glow. This is a must visit for anyone interested in the history and art of the area.

Vinaros Parish is a real treasure unlike any other
Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region)
One of the things to visit in this city is this church located in the Town Hall Square, right in front of the Town Hall building. This peculiar church was built in the 16th century and features a variety of architectural styles, including Valencian Gothic and Renaissance, as well as a Baroque portico.
As you enter you will be struck by its impressive architecture and be stunned by the baroque details. It's more than just a place for the public to gather, it's a real living museum that tells you stories from centuries ago! Its columns, altars and atmosphere transport you to another era. A must-see for lovers of history and religious architecture.

Church of the Assumption
Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region)
Unfortunately I discovered it had very short opening hours, but the tower, dome and exterior are very impressive. I suggest you take different photos of the church from different angles.
It has a bell tower, considered one of the most important in Lower Plana, completed in 1791, made of ashlar, the tower begins with the first body, square in plan, approximately in the middle, some apses make the transition to an octagonal plan, characteristic of the second body, which also has pilasters and cornices.
The altarpiece facade was completed in 1926 in neoclassical style and currently features two images: San Alfredo Abad and San Vicente Ferrer.

The views of the Sierra de Irta are incredible
Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region)
The castle was built by Muslims between the 11th and 12th centuries and was subsequently occupied by the Knights Templar. It is not currently developed for tourism but is more or less preserved. The road is not well maintained and flat, and there are many rocks and potholes, which may affect cars. Climbing up to the castle here rewards you with stunning views. We can even see Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza.

The castle is a must-see attraction in every city
Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region)
Visiting the Castle of Segob was an incredible experience! The place is very well preserved and offers a wonderful panoramic view of the city and the area. The history of the castle is fascinating and this visit provides an excellent opportunity to learn about Segorbe's medieval history. The best part is that Segob Castle is free to enter and is open from 10:00 to 22:00, which makes the visit even more enjoyable. I recommend it to anyone who loves history and architecture!
There is a very nice view from the castle entrance and you can sit on the benches and enjoy the view. It is recommended to download the Segorbe tourist app to see a guide to the castle and town. In addition, the Sopeña Promenade is also very charming.

A small town on the plain of the Palancia River
Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region)
The village of Segobe is situated on a fertile plain washed by the Palancia River. Its medieval layout hides some architectural gems, such as the cathedral and the remains of ancient city walls. The remains of a medieval castle on the nearby hill of La Estrella recall Segorbe’s palatial origins.
Named after the abundant springs found in the area, Plaza Agua Limpia is the town's nerve centre. There is the Town Hall, built in the 16th century and formerly the palace of the Dukes of Medinaceli.
The Cathedral of Santa Maria was built in Gothic style and was later rebuilt in Neoclassical style. Its interior contains seven chapels and a beautiful cloister, a valuable manuscript preserved in the archives, and a series of paintings in the chapel.
Several churches stand out in the medieval layout of the city: the Church of San Pedro, the Church of San Martín, the Church of San Joaquín and the Church of Santa Ana.
Due to its past defense, the village still preserves the round tower of Bottessi and the tower of the prison, which were once part of the ancient walls, together with the Veronica Arch. Finally, we can end our tour of the city by visiting the Cathedral Museum, the Archaeological Museum and the Ethnological Museum.
The local festival celebrations in Segorbe, which has been declared a tourist attraction, take place at the end of August and include a busy program full of cultural, religious and entertainment activities.

A very beautiful and old church
Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Castellón (Region)
The Church of Our Lady of Mitana is located in the Peñíscola Castle, which was built in the 18th century by order of the then Viceroy Sancho de Echevarría. It is attached to the castle and is located in front of the Plaza de Armas. It is a Latin cross temple with two side chapels, on the facade of which one can see the shield of King Philip V, and the carvings next to the gate are remarkable because they mention military details such as coats of arms, armor, flags, spears and cannonballs.
Overall, it's a very nice place to spend some time, walk around the castle, take photos and have dinner in some cafe or restaurant. The atmosphere is very good, I recommend you to visit there.

Pretty beach & cool hike, Barcelona’s got them all
#celebrateit
Not sure if it’s my luck or all year long, Barceloneta Beach was in my dreamy blue hues during my visit in the evening. And the creative architecture along the beach makes it quite a wonderful walk along the coastline.
And around half an hour away is the hill Parc del Mirador, which is not too steep to hike but steep enough to give an excellent viewpoint of the whole city. But the hill faces the city in the northeast, so it’s recommendable to visit it in the blue hours of sunrise for the best view.
Barcelona (and Spain in general) has graffiti all over the place. It packs a good deal of constant surprise when walking around the city, whichever route you happen to take.

The first temple was completed at the end of the 13th century, but it burned down during the civil war and was rebuilt in 1999👷
