You need to change into bamboo straw sandals to enter the site, which you can take home after the visit. Borobudur is a seven-story pagoda with corridors on each floor. My visit to Borobudur Temple in Central Java, Indonesia was eye opening. Located about 1 hours drive to Yogyakarta, it was akin to stepping into a world of ancient wonders. Currently (as of March 2024), we can now have full access to the temple structure but there is a daily limit of 1,200 visitors. I highly recommend getting the Temple Guided Tour ticket from Trip.com, as opposed to the Borobudur Temple Tickets, as having a guide that explains a brief history of the temple, the carvings on the wall, the religious context etc makes a world of difference. Watching the sunrise at Punthuk Setumbu near Yogyakarta was an awesome adventure! We woke up super early, starting our journey from Yogyakarta City at 3:45 am. It took us about 15 minutes to climb up the hill. When we reached the top, we waited for about 30 mins before the sky started to turn pink and orange. The the sun peeked over the horizon at 5:45 am. It was so beautiful! We could see the whole area around us lighting up with the morning sun. Even though we were tired from waking up early, seeing the sunrise made it all worth it. Borobudur stands majestically at the centre of an attractive assembly of traditional rice-growing village, surrounded by volcanic peaks in Kedu Valley in Central Java. The temple compund spans an area of about 2500 square metres, which makes it one if not the largest in the world. Despite being intimated by its sheer size, we had to start the adventure. At the entrance of the temple, we were welcomed by a great challenge. The steps required to climb to the first level, not to mention the number of other sightseers clambering up the steps, feels daunting. Tackling the steep steps requires commitment, thoigh I had to occasionally stop to catch my breath. The temple usuallu opens at 6 AM. However, you can be in the area at around 5 AM to witness the mesmerising transformation of the temple’s stupas and reliefs, as they bathe in the golden rays of the morning sun. While this trip might already fulfill my wishlist to visit and experience ancient and historical places, this just made me wish is to see more. I still wish to see similar structures on the other side of the continent. I wish conquer the Mayas and the Incas and see similarities and differences. #2023travelwish

To go to the location of the Ngasinan Hot Spring, go through Sumberarum Tempuran Village, with road access that can be passed by four-wheeled vehicles or through the Hanging Bridge of Jati Hamlet, Kalinegoro Village, Mertoyudan District, with two-wheeled vehicles.
