We booked a three-bedroom loft apartment, and it was exactly as shown in the pictures—everything was clean and tidy. From the bedroom windows, you can see mountains and lakes on three sides, and from the living room balcony, you can see the village of Hallstatt. The rooms are equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay and cooking. The owners provide essentials like tea, coffee, salt, sugar, and basic cooking oil. The apartment also has many games, puzzles, and books that my children loved. They also have a sun deck by the lake, which is a great spot for a quick picnic. The apartment is very close to all the places you want to visit in Hallstatt, yet it is very quiet and away from the tourist hustle and bustle. Hallstatt Lahn (bus/boat station) is a 4-minute walk from the apartment, and we had no trouble dragging our suitcases from there to the apartment. There is a children's park 50 meters from the apartment, which the kids loved. Supermarkets and restaurants are also nearby. The owners are very nice. They live on the first floor. They helped us move our luggage to the second floor (where we stayed) and let us use the washing machine (+ dryer) where we washed all our clothes. They even brought some bread so the kids could feed the swans on the sun deck. I will definitely stay here again the next time I visit Hallstatt.

The salt mines in Hallstatt have a very long history. They were originally on the seabed tens of thousands of years ago, but were uplifted into mountains by the compression of the plates, and these thousand-year-old crystallized salt mines are treasured in this mountain 511 meters above sea level. After the ticket is checked, you need to change into a miner's uniform and queue up with the staff to receive it, and then return it after the tour. There are two wooden slides in the salt mine. With a length of 64 meters, it is also the longest wooden slide in Europe. The tour guide will ask everyone to line up one by one. There is also a traffic light sign above, which is super cute. You can slide down alone or with two people. There is also a small screen above to help you take pictures. After that, we walked all the way in the underground salt mine. Salt crystals can be seen everywhere on the walls. Since 1960, excavation projects have been carried out here every year to continuously study the historical trajectory of mine excavations over the past thousand years. There are also many installations in the tunnels, like a natural indoor museum, allowing tourists to learn about the stories of the past. There was also a wonderful light show that depicted the life of the prehistoric people of Hallstatt in the dim salt caves and salt lakes. I personally felt that it was very thoughtful. Came here for a night whilst solo backpacking. A day for me is enough to see the highlights of Vienna. Night life was okayish to be honest. But sightseeings are so pretty. One thing that we like the most when we go abroad is walking around convenience stores. We get to walk around and see food, local products, and get excited about things that are different from our home country. This is the charm of traveling abroad. Today, we will take you to Unimarkt. Everything here closes very early. From 6:30 to 7:00 p.m., they start to close. So we have to hurry. Schönbrunn Palace (German: Schloss Schönbrunn [ʃøːnˈbʁʊn]; Central Bavarian: Schloss Scheenbrunn) was the main summer residence of the Habsburg rulers, located in Hietzing, Vienna. The name Schönbrunn (meaning “beautiful spring”) has its roots in an artesian well from which water was consumed by the court. In 1569, Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian II purchased a large floodplain of the Wien river beneath a hill, situated between Meidling and Hietzing. The former owner, in 1548, had erected a mansion called Katterburg. The emperor ordered the area to be fenced and put game there such as pheasants, ducks, deer and boar, in order for it to serve as the court's recreational hunting ground. A must-stay in Vienna, Austria, for European travel Vienna is a very memorable old-fashioned European city. Perhaps Budapest and Prague, which I visited before, were too dilapidated. The blend of modern and ancient in Vienna is truly a pleasant surprise! This Rosewood, which opened in 2022, has top-notch hardware facilities, not to mention its location. It is situated in an old building on the busiest commercial street in Vienna's city center. The front door opens onto Chanel and Dior stores, while the back door leads to Hermes. After a crazy but amazing period of working came to a close there was only one thing left to do TRAVEL! Apologies it’s a long one but as brief as possible! 1st stop to bask in the sun and some needed r&r was Perth. Relaxing and catching up with the fam ❤️ Next stop Cambodia 🇰🇭 Phnom Penh taking in the beautiful sites of Royal Palace and visiting many stunning sites including Silk Village and the Golden Temple. Siem Reap was the next stop visiting Angkor Wot Temple. The early start at 3am for sunrise at this spectacular wonder of the world was worth every second! Loved the floating village and seeing how communities live and look after each other. Next stop Vietnam 🇻🇳 Hanoi was as busy as every one said! Crossing the roads was daunting but a day later I was a pro 🤣 Train street, Halong bay, Ninh Binh, Bai Dinh Temple was definitely worth the visit. Next stop Da nang From monkey & marble mountains to seeing Lady Buddha in all her glory! Dragon bridge and the many markets are a must see in Vietnam. Of course had to visit the Golden Bridge and Bana hills. Last stop Hoi Chi Minh previously known as Saigon! Watching a bamboo show at the opera house and doing lots of sightseeing in this vibrant city. Of course getting inked at the famous Saigon ink was in the itinerary 🙈 Next stop Philippines 🇵🇭 I started in Manila in the Makati region exploring malls and a few landmarks. Off I went to Cebu for the next few days, here visiting Sirao flower gardens, Taoist Temple and the beautiful Temple of Leah and ending the day at the 10000 roses site made this trip memorable. Meeting some new friends was definitely a highlight too 🥰 Next stop is Palawan. Puerto Princesa and El Nido From longest underground river tours to island hopping to visiting some stunning lagoons each moment was a as picturesque as the next! As I returned back to Perth to recoup from living the dream and some well needed rest. Last stop before returning home had to be Malaysia 🇲🇾 Kuala Lumpur you finished this trip perfectly. Batu Caves to the PETRONAS towers from temples to the most incredible malls. Loved central market and Petaling Street and Bukit Bintang. 47 hours flying time, 15 flights and 11 hotels later it’s time to go home for now 😉 As travelling was the main goal for 2024 I hope it continues for many years to come.
