At night, Sensō-ji Temple, Kaminarimon, Nakamise-dori and Denin-dori present a completely different and charming appearance under the lights. As Tokyo's most popular tourist attraction, Sensō-ji Temple is always crowded during the day, with many tourists coming to worship, try delicious food in Nakamise-dori and Shin-Nakamise-dori, and buy souvenirs.
However, Sensō-ji Temple at night is also worth a visit. When the lights around the shopping street are turned on, a strong Japanese atmosphere permeates the entire block, making it particularly pleasant to stroll through it, and there are relatively few tourists. Unlike Asakusa in the morning, it is more lively at night. Along the shopping street, there are izakayas that only open at night, which are the gathering places for locals after get off work. If you have a full dinner, you may want to have a drink with friends and experience the culture of Japanese izakaya.
If you are wondering what to eat in Asakusa, Asakusa Gyukatsu, a fried steak restaurant located diagonally across from Kaminarimon, is the best choice. This shop is very famous. There are not only Taiwanese tourists but also many Korean and Japanese customers lining up, which shows its high popularity.
Let me start with the conclusion. I think this fried steak is really delicious, but if you have to queue for more than an hour, I would not recommend it. It is worth mentioning that in November 2024, the store opened a new branch about 5 minutes’ walk from our main store. If our main store is too crowded, you might consider trying your luck at the branch!
This Asakusa fried steak restaurant is not only suitable for a full meal, but also for a midnight snack because it is open long hours without breaks. However, there are not many seats in the store, and you often have to queue during the peak tourist season or on weekends and holidays. This time, I thought there wouldn't be many people, but I still had to wait for nearly 40 minutes before I could sit down and eat. It is worth mentioning that the store has recently expanded its business space and renovated the adjacent store to make the dining environment more spacious and shorten the waiting time. Therefore, if you have the opportunity to visit Asakusa, you might as well try this famous queue store. It will definitely not disappoint you.
