Climbing an active volcano 🌋
#summerdestinations #guatemala #travelcouple We travelled to Volcano Acatenango in Guatemala and spent the day climbing up the side of it to catch the eruptions right up close and personal 🌋🤩🤯

Guatemala one of the most underrated country
I spent and amazing 2 weeks in Guatemala. We landed in the capital Guatemala City and only stayed a night there. This is the only capital I’ve ever come across with no positive comments even from the locals. Next morning we took a 45 mins taxi ride to Antigua. A charming colonial town and one of the most beautiful communities in Latin America. Stayed a few nights and from there went to the so called most beautiful lake in the world Lake Antigua. There are many different towns in Lake Antigua and each one has their own unique style but one thing all they have in common is the surrounded by the beautiful lake Atitlan and volcanos. We first did the easier hike to volcano pacaya which took around 3 hours. Rested a few days and challenged another volcanos which is rated as top 10 volcanos in the world, and the no7 most difficult volcano hikes. Volcano Acatenango. Our private tour which cost around 500q (60usd) per person started at 10pm and we finished at 11am. It was the most challenging thing I’ve ever done but once you get to the summit and see that sunrise everything felt worth it.
I highly recommend Guatemala.
I’m currently on a one year vacation in Latin America and already been in this continent for 8 months. Guatemala is my 9th country in Latin America and it’s definitely one of my favourite after Argentina #guatemala #antigua #lakeatitlan #Volcano

🌋 A Journey to Volcán Acatenango: A Trek to Remember 🌋
Last weekend, I embarked on an unforgettable adventure to Volcán Acatenango, and I'm still in awe of the breathtaking experience.
Camping overnight, we were treated to the most awe-inspiring view: Fuego Volcano, its fiery eruptions lighting up the night sky. It was both exhilarating and humbling to witness the power of nature up close.
The next morning, as the sun rose, we reached the summit. Surrounded by mist and clouds, with the rugged beauty of the volcano all around us, I felt a deep sense of peace and connection to the natural world.#Acatenango
Hiking Volcán Acatenango was not just an adventure; it was a journey of discovery and an opportunity to immerse myself in the beauty of the Guatemalan wilderness. 🏞️

Sunset behind an erupting volcano
Watching volcán fuego erupt at sunset from neighbouring volcán acatenango. After a gruelling 5 hour hike up acatenango, it was blissful to sit above the clouds watching fuego erupt roughly every 15 minutes. And it only gets better as the sun went down, first with a beautiful sunset, then with glowing sprays of lava visible against the night sky. #volcano #guatemala #fuego
