The canal was built for economic development, and when transporting cargo using ships, it had to go around the Peloponnese Peninsula, but the length was 700km, but the construction of the Corinth Canal shortened it to 6.4km.

Corinth an ancient and modern city of the peloponnese located in south-central greece. the area is worth visiting although it was very touristy. one of the significant monuments must not to be missed is the apollo temple some of its columns still standing though it has been destroyed however i must admit that the historical ruins still remain in some good shape. the ideal length of time to spend in the archaeological site is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
then there is museum that has very amazing display which is located within the archaeological site of ancient corinth. the museum wasn’t very big, it is definitely well worth visiting. the entrance ticket for 8 euros includes the access to the museum and the archaeological site and can be obtain at the entrance gate with no time restrictions.
