Sanghyang Heuleut, along with the other two sanghyangs (Tikoro and Poek) is a unique tourist destinations trilogy in West Bandung Regency. All three of them are often linked with myth and legends, making them a rather creepy if you believe in such thing. Geologists speculated that thispond is a result of an explosion of an ancient volcano; Mount Purba. That is why this pond is surrounded by huge boulders, almost unseen from outside. Some people consider this pond as a hidden paradise. The combination of the rocks and the blue water creates a somewhat otherworldly view, extremely good for photographic setting. In fact, Sanghyang Heuleut rose to fame after people shared its pictures in social media. Prior to visiting this site, I was quite blown away by the fact that this Stone Garden, located in the Karst Citatah area, was formed during the Miocene era, approximately 20-30 million years ago. During that time, this highland was a shallow sea region that eventually dried up and the current presence of sharp, hollowed-out rocks is evidence of Stone Garden Citatah’s ancient seabed origins. After wandering around for a bit amongst the natural stone formations, we proceeded to enjoy some outdoor activities offered within the area, concluding with a rope abseil from the middle of a suspension bridge ✌️
