2025 Cilcain Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in July)

Last weekend, I hiked up Moel Famau in North Wales. The weather was mild, with patches of sunlight breaking through the clouds. The trail started gently through woodland, then gradually steepened as we approached the summit. Along the way, the views opened up—rolling green hills and distant valleys stretching for miles. At the top, the remains of the Jubilee Tower stood proudly, offering a perfect spot to rest and take in the panorama. It was breezy but refreshing. The descent was peaceful, with sheep grazing nearby. Moel Famau felt like a perfect mix of nature, history, and calm, well worth the climb.

Moel Famau is situated in a great location that you reach through walking into a nice forest section that allows you to enjoy the scenery and wildlife. The hike to Moel Famau takes around 2 to 3 hours in total and can be considered an easy difficulty hike. The experience walking to Moel Famau is the real highlight as the scenery changes and eventually opens up onto the hill showing all the locations surrounding towns and points of interests. Moel Famau can be done on any day and I’d recommend taking a little packed lunch and having lunch once you reach the pinnacle of Moel Famau. Overall Great day with friends or family that isn’t to much hassle or time. Would recommend to anyone living locally or visiting the UK. #unitedkingdom #hiking #MoelFamau
