We love the old town of Chur, it is such a nice place to wander and window shop, take in the parish church and then walk up to the cathedral. There are plenty of places to eat and drink. Just five minutes walk up the gentle hill from the main station through the main shopping street. #tripaway

But when I found Mekhong restaurant in Chur, Switzerland, it was a lifesaver. It can cure my craving for Thai food. The restaurant may be a bit hard to find. After following Google Maps, you have to go into the building and walk up the stairs to the 2nd floor to find the restaurant. As for the food, I ordered the following: ➡️ Glass Noodle Salad ➡️ Pad Krapow Gai ➡️ Tom Yum Goong ➡️ Tom Kha Gai ➡️ Panang Pork Overall, everything tasted good, whether it was the spicy salad/Tom Yum, which was just right. The Panang Pork was fragrant with curry paste. The spiciness level was okay. Pad Krapow was fragrant with chili and basil. The taste was spicy and satisfying. On this trip, I chose to set aside the heavy pages of history and feel the modern pulse of Chur, experiencing its unexpected surprises and emotions. From the moment I arrived in Chur, I was captivated by its unique geographical location. Surrounded by mountains and with the Rhine River winding through, the old buildings and modern facilities create a unique cityscape. The fresh air, filled with the scent of pine and earth from the mountains, was invigorating. I stayed in a hotel with a modern design, featuring spacious and bright rooms with views of the rolling Alps, a sight that was truly refreshing. On the second day, I began exploring Chur's city center. Though the city is not large, it is full of energy. The old buildings stand side by side with modern shops, creating a fascinating contrast. I strolled along the cobblestone streets, admiring the scenery and feeling the unique charm of the city. Many shops were decorated with vibrant flowers, adding a splash of color to the ancient buildings. In the city center, I discovered a bakery recommended by locals. The shop was filled with the rich aroma of bread, and the variety of breads on display was dazzling. I picked a few local specialties, each bite soft and delicious, with the wheat and cream flavors lingering in my mouth, leaving me wanting more. The shop owner, a friendly elderly lady, enthusiastically chatted with me, explaining the different bread-making methods and flavor characteristics, and recommended some drinks to pair with the bread. Her warmth and professionalism made me feel the warmth and hospitality of Chur. In the morning, I decided to take a walk in Chur's city park. The park, with its lush greenery, birdsong, and fragrant flowers, was refreshing. I strolled along the park's paths, admiring the beautiful scenery and feeling the tranquility and harmony of nature. Many people were resting and playing in the park, creating a peaceful scene. I sat on a park bench, gazing at the distant Alps, and felt a sense of peace and comfort. In the afternoon, I rented a bicycle and rode around Chur. The city's streets are well-planned, making cycling very convenient. Riding along the bike path by the Rhine River, feeling the breeze on my face, and admiring the beautiful scenery of the river and the pastoral landscape on both sides was an indescribable pleasure. During the bike ride, I also discovered some hidden spots, adding a few surprises to the trip. In the evening, I enjoyed dinner at a restaurant. I ordered a local Swiss dish, with fresh ingredients and delicious sauces that left a lasting impression. The restaurant had a relaxed atmosphere, and I chatted with tourists at the next table about Chur. They enthusiastically shared many stories about the city. At night, I strolled through Chur's streets, feeling the city's tranquility and harmony. The night in Chur, illuminated by lights, lacked the hustle and bustle of big cities, making it particularly comfortable and relaxing. I found that the city at night had a unique charm, with less daytime noise and more tranquility and mystery. On my last day in Chur, I decided to go hiking. Surrounded by the Alps, Chur is a paradise for hiking enthusiasts. I chose a relatively easy hiking trail, admiring the magnificent scenery of the Alps along the way and feeling the wonders of nature. Standing at the top of the mountain, overlooking the entire city of Chur, was an unforgettable experience. Leaving Chur, I was filled with emotion. This oldest city in Switzerland brought me many unexpected surprises and emotions. It made me realize that the meaning of travel is not about visiting numerous famous landmarks, but about experiencing local life, feeling the city's tranquility and vitality, and enjoying moments of leisure and comfort. Chur, a city full of modern vitality and natural beauty, will forever be etched in my memory as one of the most beautiful memories of my life. Bernina Express is regarded as one of the most beautiful panoramic trains in the world. The Bernina Express is a direct train from Chur (Switzerland🇨🇭) to Tirano in Italy. This excursion should be included in your bucket list. My ride was back in November 19. Why Bernina? In just 4 hours (one way), you'll see stunning variations in the landscape, from high alpine scenery on the Bernina Pass to a Mediterranean atmosphere in the Poschiavo valley just before Tirano. The Landwasser Viaduct is a majestic sight. An impressive feat of engineering and construction, the viaduct was built in 1902 and features pillars that stand at a towering 65 metres. En route to Tirano, trains do stop at Alp Grum. Alp Grüm can only be accessed by train or on foot. The station provides impressive panoramic views, sweeping across the Poschiavo Valley and drawing your eye to the Bergamasker Alps beyond. How to get there? : Head to Chur from Zurich Main Station. The journey takes 1h 14m and departs every 30 minutes.
