Tsumugi
#Tokyo Food Guide
"Tsukiji Honganji Café Tsumugi" located in the information center next to Tsukiji Honganji Temple offers many Japanese meals, desserts and a variety of tea drinks. The most popular one is the special set meal called "18-course breakfast". "Course" means "one dish" in Japanese. As the name suggests, this meal contains a total of 18 dishes, such as "Yuzu Tofu", "Yuba Salmon Roe", "Roast Duck with Sansho", etc. The 18 dishes are arranged on a wooden rectangular tray, and the visual effect is quite eye-catching. The daily supply of "18-course breakfast" is limited. Although you can wait for a table on site, it will be reserved for guests with reservations first. It is recommended to make a reservation in advance through the official reservation website to avoid being disappointed.
The 18-course breakfast has been on my list of cafes to go to for a while. I tried to make a reservation several times but there was no availability.
This time, about a month ago, I happened to see a time slot at 8:30 a.m. on a weekday, so I quickly pressed the reservation button.
You will receive an email notification after the appointment is successful. I am looking forward to it from the moment the appointment is successful.
When I went there that day, I was seated on the sofa. The food was served in less than 10 minutes after I ordered.
The "18-item breakfast" set includes a bowl of white porridge, a bowl of miso soup, 14 side dishes, a piece of fruit and a dessert, a total of 18 dishes. The white porridge can be refilled for free, and it also comes with a cup of green tea. The price is 2,200 yen.
The dark green one on the upper right is the dessert Matcha jelly. Apart from the dessert and the fruit on the left, the rest are side dishes.
The orange one below the matcha jelly is seaweed mentaiko. I personally think this dish is quite spicy. If you are not able to eat spicy food or if you have children, you may want to be careful.
It is very relaxing to enjoy breakfast while looking out at Tsukiji Honganji Temple from the large floor-to-ceiling windows. If you like Japanese breakfast, it is recommended to make it the first stop of the trip.
