REVIEW OF A 3-DAY, 2-NIGHT SOLO TRIP TO NAM DU (departing from Hanoi) -------------------------------- If you want to go to the beach, only Kien Giang in the Southwest of Vietnam is beautiful, so since I was in Ho Chi Minh City and had some business, I decided to go to Nam Du alone! 1️⃣ Nam Du archipelago is located in Kien Hai district, Kien Giang province, Vietnam. It is about 83 km southwest of Rach Gia city, near Ba Lua and Phu Quoc archipelagos. Nam Du archipelago consists of 21 large and small islands with a total area of ​​about 1,054 hectares. 2️⃣ Travel guide to Nam Du (2 stages from Saigon, 3 stages from the North) - Stage 1: From Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, book a flight to Ho Chi Minh City during the day. If you have little time, take stage 2. If you have free time, stay here for 1-2 days to regain your strength and then continue with stage 2 - Stage 2: From Ho Chi Minh City to Rach Gia: Currently, there are no direct flights to Rach Gia. I took the Phuong Trang sleeper bus from Ho Chi Minh City (11pm) to Rach Gia port (5am) - Stage 3: From Rach Gia to Nam Du by Superdong speedboat, travel time is about 2 - 2.5 hours. If you get seasick, remember to take anti-seasickness pills After arriving at the island, you can rent a motorbike, boat or train to visit the small islands in the Nam Du archipelago. 3️⃣ Accommodation I had 3 days and 2 nights on the island because of the strong wind, I couldn't go on the 3-island tour, so I stayed at 2 places to experience. Huy Hoang Guesthouse costs 350k/night (2 beds), clean, airy room, no elevator, can accommodate 4 people Langchia Nam Du Resort 1.5 million/night (weekend) I think the room is normal but the view is worth the money, has a private beach, the most memorable feeling is lying and swinging like a toad watching the sea (so cool). So if you travel like a lazy vacationer like me, I highly recommend everyone to stay at Langchia for 1 night. 4️⃣ Places to play & eat on Nam Du Island - Bai Cay Men: The most beautiful beach in Nam Du, clear blue water, white sand, with poetic coconut trees. - Bai Ngu: Where King Gia Long once stopped, there is a well of fresh water that never runs dry. Nam Du Lighthouse: One of the tallest lighthouses in Vietnam, from here you can see the whole island. - 3-island tour: Hon Mau, Hon Ngang, Hon Hai Bo Dap (the day I went, the wind was so strong that the boat was not allowed to go on this tour) - In addition, you can experience other activities such as diving to see coral, night squid fishing, visiting fishing villages - Try specialties such as blue bone fish, sea urchin, grouper hotpot, rice noodles... 5️⃣ Budget 3N2D - 6,850,000 VND (because I went to heal alone and had little time, so the price was a bit high, if you go in a group, from HCM, for a longer period, staying at a motel, the price will be much more reasonable) 🥰Nam Du has friendly people, clear blue sea water but is a small island, spontaneous tourism, average price, few places to play, suitable for groups of friends who like to explore, go on vacation close to nature or lazy travel. If you have come to Nam Du, spend an extra day exploring Hon Son, 1 hour away (the boat to Rach Gia passes by) to make your trip more complete. #couplestrip

Transportation: - From Saigon: there are many bus companies departing from Mien Tay Bus Station to Rach Gia. I chose Phuong Trang bus to Kien Giang bus station and will be transferred to Rach Gia high-speed boat station. The travel time in the evening is about 4 hours (I took the 11:30 bus and arrived at 4:00) - High-speed boat: there are a few boat companies from Rach Gia to Nam Du, only departing in the morning, I chose Superdong's 7:30 bus to Nam Du at 10:00 (the boat runs smoothly, no seasickness) - Transportation on the island: the only means of transportation is motorbike, you can ask the hotel to book for you. The road on the island is quite steep in some places but relatively easy to go 🌸2. Accommodation: - There are quite a few motels, hotels and resorts on the island. I chose Langchia Nam Du Resort for a super chill view 🍒3. Food and drink: - There are also quite a few restaurants on the island, mostly affordable, with reasonable prices. Coming here, you can dive to catch squid or see colorful corals. Bai Cay Men is deserted, so you can freely play and swim. The sea water is clear and cool. In addition, you can also catch snails on the rocks along the beach. Bai Ngu Bai Ngu is located in the west of Cu Tron. Legend has it that on the way to Siam, King Gia Long stopped here, so this area is called Bai Ngu. In the dry season, this beach still has plenty of fresh water while other areas are severely lacking water. Here, there is still a well that is always full of water. Local people believe that the well was dug when the king arrived here, so it was named the King's Well. Bai Chet According to folklore, in the 16th century, on the way to Phu Quoc to trade, a fierce battle broke out between the Dutch and Chinese ships. A few days later, hundreds of Chinese corpses washed up on this beach, from then on, people called it Bai Chet. Nam Du Lighthouse Nam Du Lighthouse is located on the top of Hon Lon (Cu Tron) in An Son commune. This is considered the highest lighthouse in Vietnam because it is located on a hilltop more than 300 meters above sea level. Hon Dau Similar to Hon Lon, the beach is still blue and the coconut trees rustle along the shore. Hon Dau is relatively large compared to other islands, the primeval forest accounts for about 90% of the area. Near the shore there are many growing coral reefs, not as beautiful as other deep water areas but the sea water is clear and very clean. Some coconut trees lean gently towards the sea, you can lie down on them and take a nap in the cool breeze. Hon Nom Is one of 11 inhabited islands. The island was reclaimed and built by Mr. Vuong Van Kieu, father of Mr. Duong Van Sau, in 1960. The whole island has an area of about 10 hectares but only 3 hectares can be cultivated, the remaining area is completely rocky mountains. Hon Mau Hon Mau is about 200 hectares wide with more than 120 households located next to each other across the lowest part of the island. Most of the people on this island work in the sea. You can still see the bottom dozens of meters away. Next to it are two impeccable rock beaches. Bai Da Den has many beautiful types of rocks. Most of them are shiny black, so the locals named them after that. The rocks on this beach are in a myriad of shapes and colors. When the sun shines down, the rocks under the sea sparkle in many eye-catching colors. There are very strange patterns. The rock veins are zigzag green and red like marble veins. From Bai Da Den, walk about 15 minutes to Bai Da Trang. The entire beach is only one color of white rock. Small rocks the size of a finger or a hand lie along the beach.
