On the way from Wanaka to Pukaki, I passed the fruit town and passed the Lindis Pass. This valley road connects the Mackenzie Basin with Central Otago.
The mountain pass is 971 meters above sea level, across the ridge between the Lindis River and the valley of the Ahuriri River.
Winter, this mountainous area is covered with continuous white snow; in late autumn, it is golden. The
Lindis Conservation Area is located right next to the road, where you can admire a vast expanse of grassland. Twizel is a small town south of Lake Pukaki and is a great base for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and hiking. Sometimes when the accommodation in Mount Cook is tense, visitors will choose to settle here. From here to the north is Mount Cook, to the east is Tekapo, to the west is Wanaka, convenient location.
