Ruins of history.
The Old Spanish Church Ruins on Camiguin Island, Philippines, is a historical site that evokes the passage of time. This ancient Spanish church has endured volcanic eruptions and natural disasters. Although only ruins remain today, every stone and wall bears witness to the faith and resilience of the island's people over the centuries.
🌋 Witness to history destroyed by volcanic eruptions
Built in the 19th century, this church was an important building during the Spanish colonial period. However, a violent volcanic eruption on Camiguin Island in 1871 destroyed many buildings, including this church. Nevertheless, parts of the church's walls and bell tower still stand in the ruins, becoming an important symbol of the island's history. 🕰️ In these remaining ruins, you can see the traces of time, as if every broken stone tells a story of the past.
🌿 The intertwining of nature and history
Today, these ruins are surrounded by vegetation, with moss covering the broken walls, as if nature is protecting this historical site in its own way. Sunlight filters through the ruins, creating a serene and sacred atmosphere. Even with only ruins remaining, the church site still exudes an ancient solemnity and mystery.

This is a paradise for photography enthusiasts! Whether it's the weathered walls or the ruins coexisting with nature, they make excellent photo backgrounds. Memories of the Old Church
when you will visit the island of Camiguin, this will surely be one of the attractions you won't dare to miss.
the OLD CHURCH RUINS is right along the road of Catarman, Camiguin.
All you can see are the old brick walls from 18th century. Why it was ruined? it is because of a huge earthquake that hit the whole island of Camiguin that sunk the cemetary too which you will see on my different post. ☺️ You would not imagine the rage of the earthquake and how the people of Camiguin rose and moved on from this tragedy. There was never a hint on the faces of the people of Camiguin that a tragedy did happen. All you can see are the people of resilience and hospitality. ❤️
