Robben Island is a UNESCO World Heritage Site off the coast of Cape Town. It is known for being the prison where Nelson Mandela and many other politicians were held. You get to learn about South Africa’s struggle for freedom and apartheid history. Getting There - You board a cruise at V&A Waterfront from Nelson Mandela gateway. Do remember to book tickets from the official website. Highlights - Top highlight for me is having an ex-prisoner as a guide in the island to walk us through the prison grounds and facilities as he recounts his stories. It is a solemn place to appreciate the country's struggles in the past. There are two parts to the tour, one part is walking with the guide through the prisons and another will be taking a tour bus around the island to get an appreciation of what life was like in the island and famous landmarks. Another highlight is the beautiful coastal and ocean view. Rating - 10/10. An unforgettable experience for me which has important historical and cultural significance. Alternatively, if you enjoy road trips, you may deive yourself but take note of safety. Highlights - Hands down to the most beautiful coastal line ever. Almost every angle gives a perfect photo. Of course, we have to take a mandatory shot at the Cape of Good Hope sign. Admire the coastal cliffs and ocean waves. There is also a lighthouse for exploration. Across the bay from Table Mountain is a natural good harbor, named Table Bay because of the mountain. It is like an old man sitting by the Atlantic Ocean, the 1087-meter-high Table Mountain is the most authoritative witness of South Africa's nearly four hundred years of modern history. In 2011, it was rated as one of the new seven wonders of nature in the world, and became the pride of South Africa, known as 'God's Dining Table'. 🚠The cable car of Table Mountain, without any support for the whole journey, can carry about 40-60 people. The bottom disc can rotate 360 degrees, and the surrounding scenery can be seen clearly during the ascent and descent, which is very convenient for tourists to appreciate without being crowded. Moreover, the cable car does not work every day, it will stop if the wind is slightly strong or the rainfall is too large, there are only two, one up and one down, and you have to queue for 2-3 hours when there are many people, and about 1500 people will be transported to Table Mountain every day. 🌟We were extremely lucky, we waited for the sea of clouds and the sunset, and unexpectedly, it was completely dark when we queued down the mountain. The beach is perfect to just relax and spend time with the family. It does tend to get full so parking might be a problem once people starts going to the restaurants. There is a few places you have to check out in Capetown when you want to experience delicious food. On the very top of the list is the Oranjezicht Market at the Waterfront in CAPETOWN. The food options are incredible. We had a delicious Gluten Free Crepe made with buckwheat as you can see in the pictures. We spent 3 nights in Capetown and had the time of our life's .We had very good weather with sunshine every day. One day we walked around the waterfront where it is so beautiful and it is very clean to walk around. There are many beautiful restaurants and cafes in that area which offer local dishes. #beachvacation Yesterday we visited the Penguin Colony at Boulders Beach. On the way back from Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope we made a short stop and it was definitely worth it. We parked at the southern end. From there you can walk to the main entrance on a boardwalk and watch the penguins chilling on the beach from far away. We even saw some close by the boardwalk so we saved money and didn't go in the officisl entrance #familytravel

Can it be? A city with it all? My recent trip to Cape Town was memorable, to say the least. A cultural hub of unique South African history and art, every landmark is special in its own way. Take the Iziko South African Museum, for example, which is a national treasure for South Africans. Learn about the historical rock paintings, ancient artifacts and heroes who moved and shook South Africa. Learn about the dinosaurs that once walked where we do now and the glorious buck and lion that graced our grasslands. Marvel at the magnificence of the size of a whale by gazing at a real life carcass. It’s easy to spend a day there lost in history. Afterwards, I moved onto the Two Oceans Aquarium. Now, I’ve been to the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium, one- if not THE- largest aquariums in the world, but boy was I impressed by what I saw in Cape Town. The place is clean and friendly to those of all ages. Children were fascinated by the sea creatures, as was I! There were spots of interactivity for the little ones and chance to learn about our ever deadly act of ocean pollution. I gawked at the penguins that were too cute for words and stood amazed at how beautiful our world is. What a wonderful chance to see what lies in the depths of our oceans! Walking about the V&A Waterfront is a must! There are tons of restaurants to choose from. And as you enjoy your delicious dinner, you are accompanied by buskers showcasing the true talent of South Africans. And if you want to spend a day immersed in shopping, there is no better mall than the Canal Walk. Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to go up Table Mountain as maintenance on the cable cars were being done at the time. But simply seeing this Wonder in the distance left me breathless. There are so many places I did not get to visit- Robben Island, Devil’s Peak and Signal Hill, and I didn’t get to try the numerous fun activities scattered around the city. #summerbreak Cape Town airport is the main airport to serve Cape Town and it is about 30 minutes from the CBD. There is a lot of things to do before you go through the security area, but if you are travelling internationally then there is a lovely bar just near the gates. the international section is small but it does have duty free, tax refund and Africa themed gift shops. I took an international flight out of Cape Town and it was very quick Ito go through security and immigration. There are a large number of shops before departures and one main one after security #urbanexplorer

#summerbreak Mugg & Bean is a chain of coffee shops across South Africa and this particular one is at Cape Town International Airport above the check-in area, before the security section. It is very big and they offer table service which is very quick. They do not serve alcohol before 11am but that is the same across the airport. They have free wifi that is fast and reliable #urbanexplorer
