Deer Lake in Burnaby is a popular place to see maple leaves. Every year in early October, the streets and museums around Deer Lake are crowded with people taking photos. At this time, the leaves are the most colorful, with golden, orange and dark red scenes intertwined, which is very spectacular, and complements the old buildings, iron railings and grass. The best time to see autumn at Deer Lake Park Trail and the lakeside viewing platform is a bit later, usually in mid to late October. You can stroll along the trail and enjoy the colorful trees and surrounding natural scenery reflected on the water. The open grassland around the lake is an excellent place to enjoy the tree canopy and the background of the distant mountains, suitable for taking photos or picnics. This includes an award-winning children's playground, sports courts and pitch-and-putt golf, outdoor swimming facilities, lawn bowling facilities, several picnic areas, tennis courts, and several little duck ponds. The wildlife in the park includes gray squirrels and Canadian geese. Because it is located in the center of Greater Vancouver, it is a great place for leisurely strolls.
