In Goa Gomatong Caves you can see how the gathering of a rare and very interesting event takes place - nests of swifts. This does not happen often, only at certain times of the year when birds begin to nest. However, all year round, the territory of the caves is guarded so that no one except tourists and people working here gets inside. During the mating season, birds begin to prepare a house for themselves and their chicks, mainly using their own feathers and saliva. The nests are said to be almost 100% protein and therefore have healing powers. Gomatong is one of the largest caves of its kind and is home to several bird nesting halls. In addition to them, there are also many bats, but during the day they almost do not show themselves. We also went on the Bongawan Firefly Tour from the first day of our trip🙂 They give out bananas, but we wanted to give more, so we bought some in advance! ㅋㅋ It's a secret that we ate a whole bunch before meeting the monkeys🫢 The monkeys really came right up to us and ate the bananas, and it was scary but also really cute..!! After feeding the monkeys, there was time to go to the beach and watch the sunset, but it was cloudy on the day we went, so we couldn't see the sunset, but it was the first time we saw the ocean in a long time, so we just healed🫧 At the end, the guide called out fireflies, and they sparkled and were pretty, like in a fairy tale! Fireflies weren't included in the photo, but I highly recommend you experience it✨ ✔️There are a lot of mosquitoes, so it's easy to get bitten, so spray a lot of mosquito repellent spray before you go! Kota Kinabalu's sunset, one of the world's top 3 sunsets! Isn't Hawaii too expensive? But I recommend Kota Kinabalu, where you can relax, enjoy a beautiful sunset, and stay at a fancy resort for half the price! It's good to just relax at the resort, but you can also enjoy an island hopping tour, and visit a traditional folk village to enjoy the wild nature and see performances, and experience fireflies that are hard to see in Korea, and try on delicious food and local clothes at the Blue Mosque and Pink Mosque, and make happy memories ♡ These days, Koreans are everywhere, right? I recommend Kota Kinabalu, which has a completely different feel from Korea, instead of Japan! I stayed in the Executive Suite Room at Sutera Harbour, so I was able to use the club lounge for breakfast and evening happy hour. The regular breakfast corner is also spacious and comfortable, so I recommend it! I made a reservation locally and went on a firefly + sunset tour. When I arrived at Bongawan, I went on a mangrove tour. I went on a boat tour through the jungle! When I met monkeys, they asked me to give them bananas..! And when it was sunset time, they dropped me off at the beach. Wow.. Kota's sunset is the best. I volunteered in Borneo for two weeks, planting trees. We also got to help with river surveys. We were super lucky to see a big group of Borneo elephants close up. Apperently, it was the first sighting in over a month. If you are thinking of volunteering, I strongly recommend it.
