The Anse Major hike on Mahé is one of the island’s most rewarding trails, leading to a secluded, postcard-perfect beach. The hike is about 2.4–2.5 km one way and takes 45–60 minutes at a moderate pace, but it’s exposed to the sun and can feel strenuous in the heat, so start early to avoid the midday sun. Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and a hat, as there’s little shade along much of the route and the sun can be intense. Anse Major beach itself is small but stunning, with clear turquoise water and shade -perfect for a refreshing swim after the hike. There’s a small beach bar that only accepts cash, so bring some if you want snacks or drinks, and you can catch a boat taxi back to Beau Vallon if you’re tired - just call Mr Happiness. The beach can get busier by late morning, so arriving early means you might have it almost to yourself for a while. Don’t forget snorkeling gear!

Extending nearly 4 kilometers of fine white sand, clear water without any impurities, Le Cardinal, the main restaurant on the lobby side of the hotel, not only can enjoy the beauty of Buffalo Beach, but also enjoy the food while watching the sunset.
