Flat Downstairs, Big Flavours: Breakfast at Bobo Kopi
#penangspots
Back then, this spot got popular because everyone wanted to check in with that iconic aluminium can.
Now it’s been swapped for a paper cup 🥤, but the crowds are still just as crazy.
The location? Right downstairs of a flat.
We chose to go on a weekday morning for breakfast — seating is limited, so basically, you have to watch which table is about to finish and stand right next to them to “chope” (typical kiasu Penang folks 🤭🤭🤭).
We even saw tourists coming straight from the airport, pulling their luggage along 😂.
The drinks stall owner isn’t exactly friendly, and drinks are a bit pricey.
As for the Hokkien Mee, the taste isn’t quite what it used to be. You order, get your number, and just wait patiently. Make sure to go early because once it’s sold out, that’s it 😂.
The best thing there? The Apom Telur made by the Indian uncle — it’s self-service!
The kopitiam itself has plenty of food options, so it’s worth exploring.
📍 Kedah Kopi Bobo 宝宝茶室
Lengkok Nipah 2, Tmn Lip Sin, 11900 Bayan Lepas, Penang
⏰ 7am–12pm (Closed on Fridays)
There’s a market nearby — you can park there and walk over.

Sizzling Korean Comfort: Daseo at Queensbay Mall – A Summer Vacation Treat
#summervacay
Daseo is a great spot to unwind, recharge, and enjoy bold Korean flavors with a cheesy twist — an excellent pick for food lovers on a summer break in Penang. It’s a cozy Korean restaurant tucked inside Queensbay Mall. Their cheesy Korean stews and crispy fried chicken were indulgent and satisfying — perfect for sharing after a long day out.
We tried the Kimchi Shimson Stew and Cheese Fried Chicken, both rich in flavor and served hot in generous portions. The vibe was casual but energetic, with K-pop music and cheerful staff adding to the fun.
Some dishes like the seafood stew weren’t as flavorful, but overall, it was a comforting and tasty summer meal. Prices are reasonable for the portion size, though expect a slight wait during peak hours.

Where Seafood Meets Sunset: Coastal Charm at Hai Boey Seafood
#springitinerary #SeafoodMeetsSunset #HaiBoeyVibes #BeachsideDining #PenangSunsetSpot #HiddenGemPenang #OctopusWelcome #CoastalCharmMY #SeaBreezeAndSeafood #PenangViews #DinnerWithAView
The place is Hai Boey Seafood in Teluk Kumbar, and it’s more than just a seafood dinner — it’s an experience by the sea.
I arrived just before sunset, and the atmosphere was magical. The restaurant sits right at the edge of the coast, with a wide open view of the ocean. The soft evening breeze, the sound of gentle waves, and golden skies made it the perfect backdrop for a laid-back meal.
What really stood out to me was the little beach area beside the restaurant. People were casually strolling along the sand, kids were playing, and there’s even a wooden swing set up right by the shore — the kind you’d want to take a photo on while the sun sets behind you. It’s such a relaxing, wholesome scene.
And then there’s the octopus sign at the entrance — beautifully crafted and full of character. It gives the place this playful, welcoming vibe that makes it stand out from the usual seafood spots. It’s the kind of detail that makes you smile before you’ve even sat down.
Whether you’re coming for the food, the view, or just to soak in some coastal calm, Hai Boey is worth the drive.
