The old and the charming.
The crowds, the rush and the touristy aspect of everything in Venice, often tends to play a bit of thorn to the overall experience. The weekends can be worse. So, while there was still some unfinished business with the stunning Venice. Come weekend, I decided to save some and head elsewhere. Bassano was amongst the most suitable of options. An hour of commute and you're in this cosy and classic town at the foothill of Prealapi.
With the task of finding an affordable option out of the way. The rest of the weekend was to explore. Bassano's city center is based around three main squares and their surrounding pedestrian streets scattered with shops, bars and historical architectural sights.
Brenta, the river that passes through the town adds a serene vibe to it. While the old bridge over it that cannot be missed forms the antique theme of the place. Some of the other interesting places that i explored during the course of the weekend were the Bassano del Grappa Castle, which is surrounded by hidden panoramic spots and give you enough reasons to explore it. While there were few more sights I eventually stopped by but this being weekend and the city having some great food. I mostly occupied my time strolling, eating and having some wonderful conversations with newly made traveller friends.
