Look no further than… Issyk Kul Lake in Kyrgyzstan! 🇰🇬 The picture you can get from here is so colorful and pretty! You have the green grass, white snow peaks and the orange beach all in one! It is a popular spot for locals but walk a little farther than the main area you will find yourself the only one! Getting There - despite its remote location, getting there isn’t as hard as you think! You can join the daily tour from Apple Hostel Bishkek to Issyk Kul lake! Hotels - I would recommend staying in Bishkek but nearby there are many hotels too! Food & Restaurants - make sure you try beshbarmak at one of the many restaurants nearby! Issyk-Kul is the seventh-deepest lake in the world, the tenth-largest lake in the world by volume and the second-largest saline lake after the Caspian Sea. There’s a lot of town surrounding it, we choose and went Bokonbayevo, where we can swim and watching eagle hunt demonstration. Eagle hunting is a tradition in Kyrgyz, the hunting season will be on winter, spring and summer is the time for the wild animal to have babies. I had the opportunity to travel to Central Asia, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, from May 3-10. The atmosphere was complete with sun, snow, wind, and rain. But when I saw the view in front of me, I can say that I was not afraid of anything. Every angle was beautiful. No matter where I looked, it was beautiful. Although the journey might be difficult, once you get there, it was definitely worth the trip. The places I liked and recommend are: Barskoons Valley🏔️ Altyn arashan🏞️ Kaindy lake Kolsai lake Sleep in a yurt camp🛖 * I recommend finding a local guide instead of driving yourself. Be sure to visit Tamga, a minor town in Kyrgyzstan that is not well known to foreign tourists. 💡 Recommended points ① Lake Issyk-Kul near Tamga has very high transparency ② You can see beautiful mountains 🏔️ ③ There is a resort facility called the sanatorium As you can see in the photos of Lake Issyk-Kul (3rd to 5th photos), the transparency of the lake, which allows you to see the bottom of the lake clearly, was amazing. Apparently astronaut Gagarin also visited the sanatorium. Japanese people were also involved in the construction of the building. When I used the sanatorium, I could hardly understand English, so I communicated with a translation app and simple Russian. The waterfall is beautiful, with water crashing down from high cliffs. It’s surrounded by green trees and colorful flowers, making it feel like a paradise. The sound of the water is really relaxing, perfect for chilling out or taking cool pictures. 📸 If you are crossing from Kyrgyzstan on your way to Kazakhtan, you may want to make a stop here as it is close to the border between two countries and do a day hike! Simply put, this trail is a great hike to enjoy nature and escape for a while. 🌿✨

In Kyrgyz, Issyk-Kul means “warm lake” because it never got frozen in winter thanks to its salinity. This lake is one of the largest saline lake in the world and also the eighth-deepest lake in the world. Located in northeastern Kyrgyzstan, the nearest cities to enjoy this beautiful lake are Cholpon-Ata and Karakol. There are several option to reach the lake. You could take a bus from Bishkek, the capital, to Karakol. If you just want go to Cholpon-Ata, you could drop into the city because most of the bus are going through it before reaching Karakol. I personally went to Karakol first, then took a Marshrutka to the one of the most popular destination in Issyk-Kul Lake, which is Skazka Canyon (Fairytale Canyon). From there, you could enjoy the beautiful coastline of Issyk-Kul along with strolling on the canyon’s Mars-like terrain. Sanatorium (Senatorium, Nursing Home) is a sanatorium built by Stalin for workers during the Soviet era. In 1936, Stalin stated the right to rest in the constitution, so it was built all over the Soviet Union, and it is said that workers came to rest and recover. There are not many left in the world, but I visited it because it was in a mountain valley in Kyrgyzstan. I went there with half anticipation and half worry because I heard that I could receive unique treatments that were popular at the time, such as radon therapy and mud therapy.ㅋㅋㅠㅠ I took the 355 marshurka from Karakol bus stop and arrived at Jeti Oguz village after about 30 minutes. The sanatorium was about 10km inward, so I took a taxi. There were many people waiting to check in at the reception. Since I heard that they usually come for long-term treatment, they were all elderly people with lots of luggage. Entering the sanatorium, I could see the large grounds were densely planted with fir trees and a river flowing right in front, so I understood why they stayed for a long time to rest. The sanatorium buildings looked old and creepy, but they were interesting because they contained Soviet history and were valuable. Three meals a day were served, and the quality was better than I thought. It was healthy food and there was meat every time, but the portions were a bit small. Once inside the building, the teacher escorted me to receive treatment one by one. I took off my top and laid down, so they asked me where I was uncomfortable, and when I said my back and neck were sore, they put something hot and heavy on me. They said it was hot mud therapy, and it was better than I thought. The next treatment was the radon half-body bath that I was most curious about. It was because of the bathtub and the color, but I feel bad saying this because it was like a horror movie set ㅋㅋ ㅠㅠ They recommended 20 minutes, so I soaked my chest in warm water and left.
