World Famous Rice Terraces!🇵🇭
#timetotravel
The view of the Banaue Rice Terraces is nothing but spectacular, amaxing and majestic. No wonder this has become a Unesco World Heritage and a National Cultural Treasure in the Philippines. Carved into the mountains of Ifugao 2000 years ago built by our ancestors with their bare hands. I am in awe looking at this beauty and can't help but be grateful to the people who made this method of cultivating rice and later on ispired the neighboring countries to do the same. Yes, the rice terraces that you see outside the Philippines are all inspired by the Banaue Rice Terraces.
How to get here: 1. From manila you can take a bus that will take you 9012 hours depending on traffic.
2. Take a flight to Cauayan Airport, then take a bus for 4 more hours.
Take Note: Upon arrival at the Banaue Town, you. have to pay 20 pesos as environmental fee. Enjoy your visit! You can also hite a guide to help you navigate the rice terraces. There will be a lot of guides at the town proper. #mytripvlog #tripblazers #philippines #nature #attraction #destination #nature
BANAUE HOTEL: A REAL TRIBAL EXPERIENCE
I travelled 9 hours from Manila to Banaue. Of course, I really wanted to see again Banaue Rice Terraces. Choosing Banaue Hotel is always my priority for it gives me a native smile from the attendants, welcome drinks, and my room always has a breathtaking view of the Cordillera mountains especially on the sunrise. Plus, my experience of dining is superb while having my delicious food with a stunning view as I sit beside the window. My room is not air- conditioned but to open the window to let the cool breeze sets in especially on night time makes me feel asleep. Banaue hotel is the most comfortable, secured and convenient place to stay in Banaue. Wonderful experience. I give it my ☆☆☆☆ rating. Mabuhay! It is located in Ilogue, Brgy. Tam-an, Banaue, Ifugao. I stayed on the standard room for 3,300 php a night. An extra-bed is charged for 900 php. It is worth the experience.

IMBAYAH BUFFET: SUNRISE BREAKFAST EXPERIENCE
Inside Banaue Hotel, as the sun rises viewed from the windows of Imbayah Restaurant, I take my morning buffet breakfast which is inclusive to my hotel booking reservation. I enjoyed my morning brewed mountain provinces coffee, with my toasted bread and champurado, filipino and continental breakfast, plus fruits and vegetable salad make my whole morning meal a great moment of greeting a new day. It is another day. Everytime I go to Banaue, this is the moment I always missed: Breakfast by the view of Cordillera mountains on the rising sun.#celebratewithtrip #foodie #mytripvlog #tripblazers
BANAUE HOTEL: MY HANG OUT TO CONQUER BATAD
#celebratewithtrip
One of my most memorable trips is Banaue, Ifugao where you can find the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Batad Rice Terraces and Bangaan Rice Terraces. It is 8-9 hrs travel via NLEX, SCTEX, TPLEX taking Pura Exit to Dalton Pass and drive straight to Bagabag then enter Ifugao to Banaue. I choose Banaue Hotel which is 1/2 km before the town center. It is a government hotel which gives the indigenous feeling and ambiance of the place. Buffet breakfast is excellent with the like of champurado and dried fish. It has swimming pool but the cold weather prevents me to dip in. But of course, I need to see BATAD. It is a 19 mins drive by car but I need to walk to Batad. I hired a guide to take the best trails and to tell about the history and custom of the locals. It was a difficult trekking and I did not finish because I was not too ready. Next time, I will come back and conquer Batad Terraces!#mytripvlog#mountainview#tripblazers#spooktaculartrip#fallingforfall#terracefields#trekking#mountainhike

Banaue Rice Terraces
From grade school to facination to reality. Unesco world heritage Banaue Rice Terraces.
The Banaue Rice Terraces are terraces that were carved into the mountains of Banaue, Ifugao, in the Philippines, by the ancestors of the Igorot people. The terraces are occasionally called the "Eighth Wonder of the World". It is commonly thought that the terraces were built with minimal equipment, largely by hand.
Tappiyah Falls, a must-do side trip in Batad
If you are in Batad and you have one half day to spare, hiking to Tappiyah Falls is the first thing to consider.
Tappiyah Falls is part of a river passing Batad. This river breaks in 70-metre elevation creating powerful waterfall pouring into a sizeable pool. The white stream and mists contrast in colour with the thick vegetation backdrop. Also the wind from the falls gently shakes the ferns on the cliff, making it very enjoyable to watch. If the current is not strong, you can leisurely swim in the pool.
Admission is free. What you need is physical fitness due to 2km distance with a lot of ups and downs. It took me 1 hour to go down to the falls and 45 minutes back to Batad. Minimum 1 litre of water is recommended. There are at least 3 drink stalls selling the trail, but all were closed during my visit. Morning is better as it tends to rain in the afternoon.

Batad - tranquil village with 360° view
Batad is unique in that its rice terraces are stone-walled and it is a round valley offering 360° view if you are at the centre or panoramic view if you are on the side/cliff.
I chose to stay here instead of Banaue due mainly to the setting explained above and the less development, which I didn't regret. I had to exchange cell reception and good wifi though. I also found that the people of Batad were very welcoming and warm. Greeting a visitor like me was common while I walked around the terraces.
From the photos, you can see that you can enjoy magnificent views of the rice terraces from different angles depending on where you are. It's breathtaking!
The walkway is quite small and, when linking between levels, can be quite steep. I recommend you have a certain level of physical fitness in order to enjoy the best of Batad.
Banaue Rice Terraces… WOW!!!!!
The Banaue Rice Terraces in the Philippines was famous enough as it is… but it got even more popular when it was included in a blockbuster American movie.
I got to visit this place in 2019. Banaue is accessible by land travel. Our family paid for a private tour which enabled us to have exclusive use of the van (with driver & tour guide) and unrestricted time in visiting Banaue and Sagada. This is the way to go when travelling with a senior citizen and with people who are into photography. If you are in a tour group, normally, time to explore the places visited are restricted since there are a lot of places to cover during the tour. You also cannot just stop the vehicle when you want a toilet break! 😂
If you want to visit this place, it is best to travel at dawn then wait for the sun to rise over the rice terraces. This would’ve been a spectacular sight but we missed it since we came late :( After taking in the view and taking photos around the area, you can enjoy breakfast in nearby eateries or restaurants. Normally, places there who offer a spot to view or take photos of the rice terraces include outdoor dining.

Rice Terraces
Banaue rice terraces is the "8th Wonder of the World" found in Ifugao, Philippines. This was carved into the mountains by the ancestors of the indigenous filipino people and was thought it is already more than 2000 year old. This is famous tourist spot or destination but it requires you for road trip going here. From manila it will take you 8-10 hours to reach this place, no tram, no taxi, but by private car or commute by bus. This is free entrance coz you just view it on the road. Reminder, too hot here, bring your share and cap or hat, plus dont forget to take selfie with the local there and give some tip for them to buy some foods or drinks. Many souvenir handcraft stores are also nearby.

Rice Terraces in Banaue
Banaue, Ifugao – The world-renowned Banaue Rice Terraces is dubbed as The Eight Wonder of the World. Because it appeared on the old twenty peso bill, most people believe that Banaue Rice Terraces is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Batad, Hungduan, Mayoyao Central, Nagacadan and Bangaan (Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras). Banaue Rice Terraces is not included in the UNESCO list but it is a National Cultural Treasure.
When thinking of traveling the Philippines, the first things you’ll find while researching are amazing beaches, blue lagoons and wide eyed miniature monkeys, called tarsiers.
When my wife and I were looking for a place to chill out on our honeymoon, that’s exactly what we found. However, being a backpacker by nature, I also looked for something off the beaten path. That’s how I found a place that locals refer to as “The 8th World Wonder” – the Banaue rice terraces.
Banaue is in Luzon Island in the north of the Philippines, in an area called Ifugao. It has one of the most amazing mountain views you’ll ever see. These mountains are the home of 2,000-year-old rice terraces, and is, in my opinion, a place you shouldn’t miss if you visit the Philippines.
The area has several villages that have become tourist attractions. Banaue is the region's biggest town and the gateway to all other places, while Batad, Sagada, Hapao and Cambulo are a few of the villages in the area. If you enjoy trekking, it's possible to walk for a few days between these villages. (Ask locals for recommended routes.)

BANAUE RICE TERRACES
The Banaue Rice Terraces (Filipino: Hagdan-hagdang Palayan ng Banawe) are terraces that were carved into the mountains of Banaue, Ifugao, in the Philippines, by the ancestors of the indigenous people. The terraces are occasionally called the "Eighth Wonder of the World".It is commonly thought that the terraces were built with minimal equipment, largely by hand. The terraces are located approximately 1,500 metres (4,900 feet) above sea level. These are fed by an ancient irrigation system from the rainforests above the terraces. It is said that if the steps were put end to end, it would encircle half of the globe.
Locals up to this day still plant rice and vegetables on the terraces, although more and more younger Ifugaos do not find farming appealing, often opting for the more lucrative hospitality industry generated by the terraces. The result is the gradual erosion of the characteristic "steps", which require constant reconstruction and care. In 2010, a further problem encountered was drought, with the terraces drying up completely in March of that year.
Batad Rice Terraces in Ifugao, Philippines is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A destination for relaxation and adventure. You will experience the culture of the local mountain tribe, Ifugao. The rice terraces is amazing.

We also dont forget to take photos those people or locals in the places we visited. They are friendly and beautiful people from Cordillera province. Without them, there is no amazing Banaue Rice terraces. Mind you fellow travellers, dnt hesitate to take picture with them. They are part of our travel history!

Yes, the rice terraces are beautiful. No argument. However, the pollution caused by vehicles is so overwhelming that it gave me a headache and I had to leave early. I have lived in 3 of the most polluted cities in the world, Saigon (HCMC), Bangkok and Mexico City. They look like a rain forest compared to any place in the Philippines.
You can see impressive rice terraces in southern China or Bali and not have to deal with the horrible emissions in Banaue. I was constantly holding my shirt over my nose but the fumes still permeated my nose.

This stretches over the terraces between the mountains, full of romantic feelings. It is a very attractive natural beauty. Because the southern mountains of Luzon are surrounded by mountains, and the Banaue terraced mountains are deep in the mountains, the traffic to the area is relatively inconvenient. But it is precisely because of this, here is rarely disturbed by the outside world, and it is particularly quiet and beautiful like a hideaway between the mountains.
In addition to the endless terraced landscape, the villages scattered in the fields and the green rice fields complement each other, and the pure nature is harmoniously integrated into one, which makes people feel the beautiful scene of harmony between man and nature. Among these mountain villages, it seems to be in the human mirror. If you like photography, it is definitely a great place to shoot. The entire terraced scenery of the four seasons is quite charming. In the spring, the terraces are filled with water, and occasionally the emergence of the seedlings, this is because the water surface is reflective, it is an excellent time to enjoy the sunset; in the summer, the seedlings grow very vigorous, everywhere is full of green, it seems to be alive; winter In the southeast, although the climate is a bit cold, there are often fogs surrounding beautiful terraces, which are also beautiful and intoxicating. As a great artificial miracle, whenever you come to the Banaue terraces, you will always be able to reap unexpected surprises, and it will show people the unique romantic charm of nature all the time.
A Journey Through Time: Exploring Batad Rice Terraces
#philippinestrip
Visiting the Batad Rice Terraces in the Philippines is like stepping into a living postcard. These ancient terraces, carved by the Ifugao people over 2,000 years ago, offer a breathtaking view of lush, green steps cascading down the mountainside1. The hike through the terraces is both challenging and rewarding, with each step revealing more of the stunning landscape and the intricate irrigation systems that sustain the rice fields. The local culture is palpable, with friendly villagers eager to share their heritage and traditions. A side trip to the nearby Tappiya Falls adds a refreshing touch to the adventure, making the Batad Rice Terraces a must-visit for anyone seeking a blend of natural beauty and cultural immersion
Batad Rice Terraces, Banaue
#philippinestrip The Batad Rice Terraces, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Ifugao, are a stunning testament to ancient agricultural engineering. Built over 2,000 years ago by the Ifugao people, these terraces are often referred to as the “Eighth Wonder of the World.”
Unlike the more accessible Banaue Rice Terraces, Batad’s amphitheater-like layout and remote location provide a unique charm. Reaching Batad requires a hike through scenic trails, making the journey part of the adventure. Once there, visitors are greeted by panoramic views of the terraces, with lush greenery stretching as far as the eye can see.
A popular activity is trekking to Tappiya Falls, a towering waterfall hidden within the terraces. The trek is challenging but rewarding, as visitors can cool off in the falls’ refreshing waters. Local guides enhance the experience, sharing stories about the Ifugao culture, traditions, and the importance of rice farming in their way of life.
Staying in Batad offers a rare chance to disconnect from modern life and immerse oneself in nature and culture. Visitors can enjoy home-cooked meals, witness traditional dances, and even participate in planting or harvesting activities during the rice season.
Batad is not just a destination—it’s a journey into the heart of Filipino heritage and a tribute to sustainable living
They were carved by hand!
The Banaue Rice Terraces are among the Philippines' top tourist destinations. Called the 8th Wonder of the Modern World by locals, these terraces are said to have been carved into the mountains and hillsides by the ancestors of the local indigenous Ifugao tribes, and are well over 2,000 years old.
How to Get There:
Others are just as lovely but the Banaue Rice Terraces are the most famous of the lot. Banaue is some 216 miles (348 kilometers) from Manila (perhaps eight to ten hours with stops and mountainous terrain), and daily buses make the trip.
When to Visit:
During summer and fall abundant rains can sometimes cloud views of the slopes. Winter may be a more reliable period for sightseeing. June is harvest time, so the landscape is golden and activity levels are high.
How to Visit:
Not surprisingly, hiking into the terraces is a popular activity among visitors to the region. But the emerald hillsides appear lovely even without the walk and outstanding picnic spots abound. Plenty of guided tours are available in Banaue.

Worth the hike. 😍
A lifetime experience to be able to visit one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites w/ 2000 years old stone walls which made it as a maze like terraces.
Hidden Paradise in Northern Philippines
I travelled to the Batad Rice Terraces in Luzon, Philippines last October. I took an approximately 10-hour overnight bus from Manila to there. Once I’d seen the magnificent view in Batad, my physical and mental tiredness was all gone. It totally worths the long travel time to there.
There is a nice waterfall in Batad called Tappiyah Falls. From the village centre, it only takes about 20 minutes of walking to the falls. It is also nice to visit.

Discoverint Batad’s Ancient Rice Terraces
Nestled in the heart of the Philippines, the rice terraces of Batad Ifugao weave a tapestry of ancient wisdom and breathtaking beauty. As I traversed the narrow trails that wind through these stunning terraces, I couldn't help but marvel at the ingenuity of the Ifugao people who carved this masterpiece into the mountains centuries ago.
Batad is not just a destination; it's a living testament to the harmonious relationship between humanity and nature. The intricate network of rice terraces, often referred to as the ""Eighth Wonder of the World,"" cascades down the mountainside, creating a mesmerizing landscape that seems to defy gravity.
Each step unveils the sheer hard work and engineering brilliance of the Ifugao ancestors. The terraces, sculpted with precision, follow the natural contours of the land, forming a complex irrigation system that has sustained the community for over 2,000 years. The lush greenery reflects the cyclical rhythm of planting and harvesting, a dance that echoes through generations.
The Batad amphitheater, with its concentric circles of rice paddies, is an architectural marvel that blends seamlessly with the surrounding mountains. As the golden hour bathes the terraces in a warm glow, the entire landscape transforms into a canvas of ethereal beauty, a scene that seems to transcend time.
Engaging with the locals, I discovered a rich tapestry of cultural heritage and traditions. The Ifugao people, known for their vibrant clothing and warm hospitality, shared stories of resilience and unity. The village, with its traditional huts and communal spirit, resonates with a sense of belonging and interconnectedness.
In Batad, time slows down, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the simplicity and grandeur of rural life. As I stood at the Tappiyah Falls, the refreshing cascade echoed the spirit of Batad – untamed, free, and deeply rooted in its cultural heritage.
Batad Ifugao is more than a picturesque destination; it's a living sanctuary of cultural pride and environmental harmony. It's a reminder that, in the embrace of nature and tradition, we find a beauty that transcends generations and connects us to the soul of the Philippines. #tripstars #travel

Banaue Rice terraces
Banaue Rice Terraces also known as Hagdan-Hagdang Palayan, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Ifugao. It features thousands of staircase-like rice paddies that were said to be built thousand years ago.
