Baltimore is a great independent city filled with rich history, great sports teams (present/ past), a variety of cultural foods and local delicacies all wrapped up in a place jokingly referred to as “Smalltimore”. Baltimore's problems are famous, but in many ways -- museums, music, art / music schools, inner harbor, food scene, some effort to address the problems without just sweeping them away by pushing them to the margins and giving their area a different city name. 💓

National Aquarium
#aquarium
The aquarium beats all others I've ever been to! Floor after floor of amazing exhibits. Many things to see. The rainforest gets a little confusing on the layout but we figured it out. The food offered was minimal but good. $5 for a pile of tater tots, but $3 for a can of water. Guess it evened itself out for the price. They're working on a new wetland exhibit, so hopefully we can return to see an update! The dolphin display is a little unorganized. I understand not doing dolphin shows , horseshoe crab, and a stingray! Overall, a great experience and our 9 yr old thoroughly enjoyed it. They offer military discount.

The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore 🇺🇸
#myhiddengems
My day at The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore was such a fun and memorable experience! 🦒 Located in Druid Hill Park, the zoo is one of the oldest in the country, and it has a great mix of classic charm and modern exhibits. The entrance fee was around $25 for adults, and I felt it was worth every penny. The zoo is well-maintained and beautifully landscaped, making it a pleasant place to explore. I started my visit with the African Journey, where I saw majestic elephants, graceful giraffes, and even rhinos. The way the habitats are designed makes you feel like you're right there on safari! 🐘
The Penguin Coast exhibit was another highlight—it's home to a large colony of African penguins, and you can get so close to them while they swim and play. Watching their cute little waddles was a delight! 🐧 The zoo also has a great Maryland Wilderness section with river otters, bobcats, and playful farm animals that kids will love. There are plenty of picnic areas to sit and enjoy the surroundings, and a few food stands offering snacks and drinks. After spending a few hours at the zoo, I took a walk around Druid Hill Park, which has lovely paths and a beautiful lake. The Maryland Zoo is a fantastic place for a family outing or anyone who loves animals and nature!
