One of the highlight in the ‘Norway in a Nutshell’ tour, and is only accessible via train on the Flåm Railway.

A Must-Take Train Ride in Norway: Stunning Snowy Scenery Along the Way!
This time in Norway, I participated in the Norway in a Nutshell tour! One of the activities included a train ride from Flam to Myrdal, and then transferring to Oslo! The scenery along the train ride was absolutely breathtaking, with the entire landscape covered in white snow and small houses, making it feel like a scene from a fairy tale! The train also had a snack center, making it convenient for passengers to choose their favorite drinks. I ordered an apple juice this time! The drink tasted pretty good, and sipping it while enjoying the snowy scenery added an extra layer of enjoyment! I highly recommend taking a train ride in Norway; it will surely be a delightful surprise!
The Fjords
Explore the beautiful Nærøyfjord on a 2-hour voyage between Gudvangen and Flåm.
The "Grand Canyon" of Norway
Aurlandsfjord is one of Norway's most idyllic fjords.
For an ultimate Norwegian travel experience take the train from Oslo to Bergen (Bergensbanen) and at Myrdal station change to the train to Flåm (Flåmsbana). This is one of Europe's most picturesque railways. From Flåm you can take an express boat to Bergen and during your journey you will have a chance to see the Sognefjord which is often called the "King of Fjords".#norway #flam #aurlandsfjord #fjordadventure
Hidden Gem: Undredal Village in Norway
Hidden deep within the Sognefjord in Norway is the tiny village of Undredal. This charming village has more goats than residents. Our family loves such destinations—less crowded, scenic, and very relaxing. Undredal is only 14km (about 17 minutes) from Flåm, but it's a small village that requires a special detour to reach, with only one road connecting it to the outside. At one point, we thought we had taken the wrong road because it was a narrow industrial road, but there were very few cars. It's a remote village.
The village is small, and at the end of it lies the Aurlandsfjord, a 29-kilometer-long branch of the Sognefjord, Norway's longest fjord. There are restaurants and a mini supermarket that offers daily necessities, fresh produce, and even souvenirs. Local women chat at the outdoor seating area, while we enjoyed beautiful strawberries and ice cream. There's also a canoe rental center, and we saw tourists gearing up for their adventure. This hidden gem is famous for having the smallest wooden church in Scandinavia and for producing Norway's unique brown cheese. Astonishingly, this tiny village produces 10 tons of brown cheese annually, making it a significant economic activity. Since Undredal has many goats, the cheese is made from a mix of goat and cow milk, giving it a unique flavor. We tried a small piece and found it initially tasted like caramel, but with a strong goat flavor upon closer tasting, which wasn't to our liking.
Undredal is a little-known hidden gem. Most visitors arrive by fjord ferry, which stops at Undredal between Flåm and Gudvangen. When we arrived, there were no cruise ships, so it was very peaceful. The village even has a small and beautiful camping area. We needed to use the restroom but couldn't find one in the village, so we asked at the campsite. The owner pointed out that the restrooms were private, but allowed us to use them for a fee of NOK 20 (about NT 60) per person.
The Undredal Stave Church is one of the 28 remaining stave churches in Norway, built in 1147, and is the smallest wooden church in Scandinavia with only 40 seats. The church is famous for its ceiling paintings of biblical figures. However, it was closed when we arrived, with a sign indicating that visits require a phone call and a ticket. So, we just took photos outside and strolled around the charming village, enjoying a leisurely hour there.
Aurlandsfjord
#europetrip Aurlandsfjord is a stunning branch of the Sognefjord, Norway's longest and deepest fjord, located in the western part of the country. Known for its narrow and steep sides rising up from the water, Aurlandsfjord offers spectacular scenery with cascading waterfalls, verdant hillsides, and occasional quaint villages dotting its shores. Visitors can explore the fjord by boat cruises, kayak tours, or scenic drives along the National Tourist Route, experiencing panoramic views and opportunities for outdoor activities like hiking and fishing. An indelible imprint on my soul.
Nestled amidst the grandeur of southwestern Norway, my visit to Fläm was an immersion into breathtaking natural beauty. As I stood at the edge of Aurlandsfjord, the vastness of the landscape enveloped me, with the Stegastein viewing platform offering an exhilarating perspective.
The quaint Flam Church, a relic from the 17th century, exuded a sense of history and tranquility in the valley below. Embarking on the Flam Railway journey, I was mesmerized by the cascading waterfalls and picturesque valleys unfolding before my eyes as the train ascended to the Hardangervidda plateau. Each moment in Fläm felt like a brushstroke of nature's masterpiece, leaving an indelible imprint on my soul.

A century-old residence on the shore of Norway's Aurlandsfjord
The winding and twisting 21,000-kilometer coastline has created Norway's unique fjord scenery. As glaciers recede and sea water rushes into U-shaped valleys, fjords are formed.
There are thousands of fjords in Norway, the most famous of which are the Aurlandsfjord, surrounded by mountains and covered with snow, the long and deep Sognefjord, the wild and beautiful Naeroyfjord, and the mysterious and majestic Geirangerfjord.
Norway is a country that is very suitable for train travel. The roads are beautiful lakes and forests. You can even walk straight through the magnificent snow-capped mountains in summer. The Norwegian National Railways (NSB) deliberately designed a travel product called "Norway in a nutshell", which mainly uses Oslo and Bergen as the starting point and has a number of travel routes.
One of the cities we transited here is only 2000+ people. The per capita living area is very large and there is a sense of happiness in living. The core of the
Norwegian miniature is the Thon Fjord in the middle, and the Naroyfjord is listed as a World Heritage Site. Visitors can purchase tickets for the Norwegian Miniature on the Internet and major train stations, and enjoy a variety of fjord sightseeing experiences by changing to different modes of transportation.
