WISTERIA WONDERLAND IN ASHIKAGA FLOWER PARK
#parksandgardens
We weren't aware that the wisteria at Ashikaga Flower Park would be in season as our main plan was to visit Hitachi Park for the blue flowers.
However, we learned about the wisteria season later and felt lucky to have the chance to see it as well.
The lush wisteria of white and purple shades drape and hang beautifully from the wooden trellises, its fragrance so wonderfully nice and sweet.
We were incredibly happy with the visit and left the park feeling blissful.

Blooming beauties
We really had a great time visited several Parks in Japan, namely Goryokaku Park, Hitachi Seaside Park, Ashikaga Flower Park which offerred extensive varieties of flowers.
We love the special emotions being surrounded by flowers.
Flowers made us feel good, happy and in love.
Flowers are sunshine, food and medicine to our souls.
Every flower blooms in its own time just like we all grow and bloom at our own pace.
And, life is beautiful.
Purple wisteria in Ashikaga Flower Park!
The largest wisteria garden in Japan, the Ashikaga Flower Park has over 350 wisteria trees that bloom from April to May. The stunning flowers, which dangle from wooden trellises, come in a riot of colours including violet, blue, pink, white and yellow blossoms.
The highlight of the park is definitely the magnificent 150-year-old wisteria tree in the centre of the park!

The magic Illumination at the Ashikaga flower park
#magicalxmastrip
At the "Ashikaga Flower Park" in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture, the "Garden of Light Flowers", one of the largest 5 million bulbs in Kanto, will be held. It was recognised as a Japanese Night View Heritage Site and is also famous as one of the three major illuminations in Kanto. In addition, it has won numerous awards, such as winning the first place in the country in the "International Illumination Award" in 2023. The park is decorated with a variety of light productions, such as about 5,000 "roses of light", "wisteria of light" that shine in 4 colours, and 2000 "water lilies of light", and you can experience as if you have been lost in a dream world.

Ashikaga Flower Park's Kaleidoscope of Beauty
#japantrip
My visit to Ashikaga Flower Park was a kaleidoscope of colors and a symphony of scents! This enchanting park in Tochigi, Japan, is a floral wonderland. As I strolled through the gardens, I was mesmerized by the vibrant blooms of wisteria, azaleas, and peonies. The delicate petals and intricate details of each flower left me in awe. The park's serene atmosphere and picturesque paths invited me to linger and savor the beauty around me. With each step, my senses came alive, and my heart filled with joy. Ashikaga Flower Park is a must-visit for anyone seeking a tranquil and breathtakingly beautiful experience amidst nature's splendor.
Ashikaga Flower Park in Tochigi Prefecture
Located in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan, Ashikaga Flower Park was once selected by American CNN as one of the top ten dreamy travel destinations in the world. It is the only place in Japan that made the list. During the months of April and May when the wisteria flowers bloom, the park hosts the Great Wisteria Festival, where over 350 wisteria trees blossom at the same time, creating a spectacular sight. It is said that wisteria is an ancient flowering plant in Japan, and there is even a wisteria tree that is over 150 years old, which has been designated as a national natural monument.
The sea of wisteria flowers during the day is like a dreamy fairyland, and at night, the wisteria flowers, illuminated by lights, are recognized as a Japanese night view heritage known as 'Night Wisteria'. CNN even compared it to the Tree of Souls in Avatar, making it feel like being in a forest wonderland, leaving visitors in awe.

【Spring Flower Hunting】Ashikaga Flower Park: Have you ever seen such a rare double-flowered wisteria?
On the way to Ashikaga,
passing by the Kasama Inari Shrine, I recognized the double-flowered wisteria
—a not so large shrine dedicated to the 'Double-flowered Wisteria Flower Festival',
where middle school students take photos under the wisteria,
although it had only just started to bloom,
I couldn't fully witness its rare beauty in full bloom...
But finally, in the Ashikaga Wisteria Garden, I was fortunate to encounter it again:
Blue-purple? Dark purple? Burgundy?
It looked like bunches of ripe grapes hanging down🍇,
but also had peony-like buds,
very double-layered, very distinctive,
this is the precious variety in the world of wisteria:
the double-flowered 'Black Dragon Wisteria', simply known as double-flowered wisteria, also called peony wisteria,
it is said that it was not very popular in the past,
because its wisteria flowers bloom almost black, which is somewhat eerie,
but now, under scientific recognition, it is considered valuable for its rarity:
Such a rare, double-flowered wisteria—
have you ever seen it?
Ashikaga Flower Park Wisteria Festival
The best time to view the flowers at the Ashikaga Flower Park Wisteria Festival is when over 350 wisteria plants of various colors, such as purple, white, and pink, will bloom in succession during the festival. Among them, the giant purple wisteria trellis, which spreads out like a canopy, is particularly breathtaking. The curtains of wisteria flowers sway in the wind alongside azaleas, reminiscent of the Tree of Souls from the movie Avatar, creating a dreamy and romantic atmosphere.

Ashikaga Flower Park
#cherryblossom2024 I came to this flower park in April , when the most popular Wisteria flower in this park starts blooming. I was very lucky I visited this park when it was sunny day, not raining at all (it was rainy season). There is a lot of different types flower, you can enjoy seeing it while walking or sitting on the bench.
Apparently there is a souvenir shop that selling flowers too, they are available in a little pot or even seed if you want to plant it yourself.
There is also a restaurant that is selling a limited time Wisteria themed ice cream, they said it's a combination of vanilla and Wisteria flower.

Ashikaga Flower Park
#springblossom I love Ghost of Tsushima and if you played the DLC and saw the mysterious wisteria at the end of the world, you can see it here in the real world instead. The wisteria season is around April - May, may move, so watch the official website to catch the best moment. White tunnel is amazing, smells quite fragile, but definitely flowers which might be too weak to replicate as perfumes. Wisteria flavored ice cream is surprisingly good, worth to try. Looks elegant. Snacks and light meal available inside the garden. Credit card mostly available. Parking slots, vending machines for waters. If you want to feel flowers in Japan, you have no reason to miss it.
Westeria Season
#thingstodo Lovely little spot to visit for half a day, very pretty flowers around here, which probably are best seen in Spring. But even in summer it is worth visiting.
On-site food and shops are available.
The wisteria flavoured soft serve ice cream is fantastic !
A couple of lovely souvenir and gift shops and a few games for kids make it a well rounded package.
Entry is inly 500¥, well worth it.

Ashikaga Flower Park Illumination
#2024wish The park luminates at night with a lot of light shows. Even if there was no natural wisteria when I went during October there were tons of things that made it look similar and the place was interesting overall. I do not recommend going there if you are a solo like me since it was very sad to see only couples there uwu. Still it was worth it for 1300 yen.

Ashikaga Flower Park Tochigi
#2024wish
This place was selected as one of the top 10 international dream destinations by CNN. The garden has a wide variety of different flowers. I was amazed at the old wisteria tree (160 y/o) and wondering how do they manage to grow such delicate trees like this? While wandering around, I could smell the lovely scent of wisterias and azaleas. Highly recommend.
I want to come here again in 2024.
Kurita Museum
#2024wish A ceramic museum located on the other side of the railroad tracks from Ashikaga Flower Park. We have a collection and display of the masterpieces of Imari and Nabeshima collected by the founder Hideo Kurita with all his soul.
Speaking of Imari, there was only an image of a large plate, but in addition to the plates, various porcelain such as huge large pots and figurines are arranged here, and it is eye-catching.
I feel that I can understand that these were loved by many people in Europe and other countries, such as their size and shape that show their overwhelming presence, and the gorgeous decoration by painting.
In addition to the exhibition of famous items, the history of Imari and Nabeshima and painting techniques were also introduced in detail at the history museum, and it was an art museum with many discoveries.
I think it's a place worth visiting even from a distance.
The building on the premises is also quaint with a sense of formality, but the only regret is that the height difference is severe and it does not support barrier-free.
The road to the main building after entering the reception is a pretty steep slope, and there is only stairs to move up and down in the facility, and there is no elevator.
It seems difficult to watch in a wheelchair, etc.
In addition, photography is prohibited except for a small part of the exhibition.

Tulips season
#2024wish Travelled 1 hr 30 mins from Shinjuku to get here. Even though the staff spoke little English, she understood the number of tickets that we would like to buy. Tickets were affordable. Upon entering the garden, I was underwhelmed. They do have a lot of land to plant the flowers, but many were bald. I wouldn't travel that far out for this if I knew it was going to look like that. You are better off going to free parks.

Flower Castle
#2024wish The park has also become very popular in the winter season for putting on a massive winter illumination display. Drawing large crowds every year, the park opens its gates every evening from mid October to midy February to let visitors wander through the elaborate exhibition.
Almost every corner of the park grounds are decorated in hundreds of thousands of multi-colored LED lights, covering flower bushes, lining walkways, and arranged into huge, creative objects and sets on an impressive scale.

Orihime Park
#2024wish Japan's Elven Park. It is a strange thing to walk into an environment and feel as if you've just stepped into a fantasy world. Even for one like me, who has been all over the world, and with each new place I go I say "this reminds me of 'such and such'"such. With Orihime Park, I thought to myself, "I have never seen a place like this".
I wish to travel more again this year.

Winter Illumination
#2024wish Went for the night time light show. Absolutely gorgeous. As the roses were still blooming the garden is filled with a sweet aroma. There shops and food vendors open at nights and an overall festival feel.
Beautiful park and lighting. I went here in November 2023 and they started displaying Christmas decoration. This park also offered lighting show, food and beverages food court, cafes, small snack stalls and gift shops.
We had to walk 10-15 mins from station but it was worth it.
