2024 Ancient Town of Fenghuang Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in November)
Fenghuang: A Romantic Destination
We chose to stay in Fenghuang for 2 nights because it is an ancient city with many interesting places to explore. Just on the first day, we couldn't see everything, so at least 2 days are needed to fully explore the city. There are many activities to do, such as renting traditional costumes with makeup and a professional photographer who suggests poses for photos. You can also take a boat ride to see the riverside houses. In the evening, you can relax and enjoy the view from your accommodation. At night, the houses are beautifully lit up, making it a sight to behold.

Let’s find out where the end of innocence is…
Children who grew up in the old streets of the ancient city remember cormorants fishing. They would throw off their backpacks and pants and run to the river.
Tangshe “Qiwei” preserves the sounds of the mountains, the texture of the fields, and the breath of nature. The flowing lines and light of the Cormorant 1913 Restaurant Bar balance the beauty of the space. From dawn to dusk, every moment is an extraordinary experience.
Afternoon tea, private dinners, Trip Moments, a golden restaurant with panoramic views of the ancient city, an infinity pool, a rooftop garden for music parties and candlelight dinners.

It's my second time visiting the underrated gem of Xiangxi. Here, you'll find the setting of Shen Congwen's "Border Town" and the Chang'an of "Chinese Paladin". Countless dramas have been filmed here, making it feel like a real-life fantasy world. This 5-day, 4-night guide will help you make the most of Xiangxi!
