I highly recommend going there during the rainy season! We went to Nishi-no-Kubo Park on Shimoshima Island, one of the best parks in Kyushu that is recommended for the rainy season. What makes it so great is that it has a rare iris garden that uses terraced rice fields in the countryside! In June, you can see 250,000 Japanese irises of 19 different varieties, as well as 6,000 hydrangeas along the garden paths. The best time to see them is around early June.
