Kazakhstan is a large country with an area ranked 9th in the world, bordering Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, known as a land of majestic nature that can experience many types of terrain at the same time. It is a peaceful steppe or a barren desert, a dense forest or a beautiful lake along the Tianshan range, a zigzag mountain slope or a million-year-old stone canyon. All seem to converge in the land of Almaty in southeastern Kazakhstan, and the city of Almaty is often the starting point for a journey to these interesting surprises.

Is Almaty, Kazakhstan worth visiting? Here's a one-day tour guide
Let's start with the conclusion:
Unless you're like us, just transiting and happen to have time, or coming from Yining by bus to take a look, or aiming for some special tourism, I think it's OK, but it's really not worth a special trip.
As someone who has been to Xinjiang 3 times each time for more than a week, I think its natural scenery is too inferior.
Almaty has two lines, one is the city's Ascension Cathedral + Big Almaty scenic area (currently temporarily closed)
The other line is the Kaindy Lake and Kolsai Lakes line, which is what we took.
There are three ways to go this line, charter, rent a car, join a group. Joining a group is the cheapest, only over a hundred, but you have to leave the city at more than five in the morning, and you won't return until more than ten in the evening, and it's very unsafe, we witnessed a group had a car fire, the scene was very tragic.
We left the airport at around seven in the morning and returned to the airport at more than eight in the evening.
The main reason for this trip was to go to Kaindy Lake, because many trees on both sides of the previous landslide broke and entered the lake, surprisingly becoming the magical 'upside-down trees', this view is very rare. Riding a horse in Kaindy Lake is 5000 Tenge per person, if you can ride a horse you can ride faster which is very good.
At Kolsai Lakes, you must interact with the golden eagle, it feels very good to touch! Taking a photo with the golden eagle is 2000 Tenge per photo, you can change into local ethnic costumes, in the end we two bargained with him for 10000 Tenge and got all the photos.
Also, when you come to Kazakhstan, you must try the local big skewers, super big! And very cheap 10 to 15 per skewer, the taste is completely different from Xinjiang barbecue but also very delicious, although it's big it's very flavorful!

🌈Almaty (Алма-Ата) is a directly administered city in Kazakhstan and the country's largest city.
📸Almaty is located in the mountainous area of southeastern Kazakhstan, near Kyrgyzstan. Almaty was rich in apples in the early years, so it is known as the "Apple City".
🔜✅The Almaty region was originally part of China's territory, and was under the jurisdiction of the Ili General during the Qing Dynasty, and was then known as Gulban Alimatu.
🔜📸As a completely landlocked country, Kazakhstan is now the ninth largest in the world in terms of area, with rich oil and gas and mineral resources

My summer trip to Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 was absolutely amazing. The weather was perfect, and I got to explore some beautiful natural landscapes, including the stunning Charyn Canyon and the serene Kolsai Lakes. The people were friendly, the food was delicious, and I loved learning about the rich history and culture of the country. I would definitely recommend Kazakhstan as a summer travel destination ☀️
Almaty is located in the Alatau Mountains outside of Ili, and was once a territory of China during the Qing Dynasty. After the establishment of Kazakhstan, it was also the capital of the country for a period of time. Due to the abundant production of apples in the suburbs, Almaty is also known as the "Apple City". 🍎
As the largest member state of the former Soviet Union, here you can not only see modern skyscrapers and experience the ethnic customs of Central Asia, but also see many marks left by the Soviet era. 🏢

Kazakhstan's apple capital - Almaty
Almaty is the most comfortable city I have visited since traveling to Kazakhstan. It is a city with diverse cultural and humanistic values and strong inclusiveness. Comrade Xian Xinghai, a famous Chinese musician, lived in this city for a long time before his death. It is also very close to Xinjiang, China. Although it was the former capital of Kazakhstan, it is still the educational, economic, and cultural center of Kazakhstan and the largest city in the country.
Almaty, the largest city in the Republic of Kazakhstan, is located on the southeastern border of Kazakhstan, near China and Kyrgyzstan. The total area of the city is about 682 square kilometers, and the population in 2017 was approximately 1.797 million.
Almaty was the capital of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic from 1929 to 1991, and the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan from 1991 to 1997.
Almaty is the financial and educational center of Kazakhstan, and was known as the "Apple City" in its early years due to its abundant apple production.
In 1991, the "Alma-Ata Declaration" declaring the dissolution of the Soviet Union was signed here.

Kazakhstan-Central Asia mysterious journey - partner recruitment in progress···
Kazakhstan is the largest landlocked country in the world, bordering Xinjiang, China. It has always been a familiar and unfamiliar presence in my heart. My understanding of it is not only based on the Central Asian history I read in books, and that it is one of the member states of the former Soviet Union, but also that some of its land used to belong to the historical territory of China.
As the largest member state of the former Soviet Union, here you can not only see modern skyscrapers and experience the ethnic customs of Central Asia, but also see many marks left by the Soviet Union.

5 Always use the app to call a taxi. Online payment and cash payment are supported.

In this world, there are always a few occluded countries, or because the rich resources don't care about other industries, or because the big countries are keeping the door closed, they don't worry about anything. Kazakhstan belongs to the former. This Chinese neighbor is very close to the psychological but far away. When I mentioned Almaty, part of the memory came from the bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympics and lost to Beijing and Zhangjiakou. In the winter, Central Asia looks a bit depressed in the cold and in the middle of the crowd, and the first big city in Kazakhstan is decorated with colors in winter. The colorful Russian architecture on the street seems to tell the story of the former Soviet Union. . Now it has developed into the financial center of Central Asia. It is called Apple City because of its rich apples. It just doesn't know if this apple will change the world in the future. This nomadic nation, after finally undergoing the rule of the Russian Soviet Union, is now striving to become a prosperous and modern Asian-European country after independence. This time, the Central Asian trip went to discover the record, and turned the curiosity of the heart into an understanding, and used the picture to reveal the mystery of the country.

Kazakhstan National Museum! The most beautiful thing is not the exhibits, but the building itself!
🏞✨The National Museum of Kazakhstan is not in the capital Astana, but in Almaty. However, I prefer to call the National Museum in Almaty a former site, because many of the museum's treasures have already been moved to the new capital Astana. As a building, this former museum is quite exquisite, but the collections inside are quite ordinary.
🏞✨The most worthwhile places to visit in the museum are the front square and the lobby. The various exhibitions are basically not worth visiting unless you have a lot of time in Almaty. The special exhibitions, in particular, are ridiculously expensive. The basic exhibitions are just about the things in history books. Anyone who has listened to history classes in middle or high school will find the exhibitions here a bit of a rip-off.
🏞✨The huge stone pillars make the museum look like a palace or castle. The warm yellow marble columns, combined with the hard lines and blue glass, have a retro feel. This may be the only imagination left to us by the former Soviet Union. This kind of building, like a torrent of steel, is impossible to build again. These old buildings are worth seeing while they still exist.
🏞✨Kazakhstan is a country that loves Tiffany blue. The background color of the national emblem and flag, the passport, and even the color of the entry stamp are all Tiffany blue. This color makes them feel calm. They like a quiet and peaceful life. The blue round dome, the Soviet-style Roman columns, and the hard architectural lines make the National Museum a representative of Kazakh style.
🏞✨When you enter the museum, the huge dome is not as beautiful as an old church, but the extreme lines and the skylight on the roof make this museum, which has few collections, look very beautiful. When the sunlight shines through the skylight into the room, it adds a little style to the otherwise boring museum.
🏞✨Logically, the National Museum should display some historically valuable paintings, but I didn't expect Kazakhstan to be so down-to-earth. A whole wall here is in an elementary school drawing style. The old church I saw on the street a few days ago was also sketched. However, I was shocked that this rough sketch could be displayed in the National Museum.

Kazakhstan's version of the Ghost City! This canyon is amazing!
🏞✨ Drive about 2 hours east from Almaty, in the direction of Xinjiang, and you'll find a landscape that looks just like Xinjiang. The scenery on the other side of the Tianshan Mountains is similar to that of China, resembling Xinjiang's Ghost City. Like Ghost City, Charyn Canyon is full of strange rocks formed by years of erosion from wind, frost, rain, and snow.
🏞✨ You can explore Charyn Canyon from the top along the boardwalk or venture deep into the canyon. We recommend walking a short distance on the top, then going down the stairs to the bottom of the canyon to experience the breathtaking scenery. The canyon is a masterpiece carved by the Charyn River. Although the river has long since receded, the strong winds from the Tianshan Mountains continue to shape the canyon.
🏞✨ The strange rocks and reddish sandstone give the canyon a Martian feel. The wind erosion gives the canyon a futuristic, sci-fi feel. In this desolate desert, the wind seems to be the ruler, constantly carving the desert and creating the ever-changing Yadan landform.
🏞✨ In summer, the scorching sun shines on the Charyn Canyon, and the strong monsoon makes it feel less hot. During the day, the canyon is almost silent except for the sound of the wind. This is a rare and peaceful land. Charyn Canyon silently showcases the majestic carvings of nature, like an ancient city in slumber, adding a mysterious mark to the earth.
🏞✨ As you approach the canyon, its grandeur is breathtaking, and its steepness and uniqueness are rare in the world. From the wooden boardwalk above, the canyon looks like a scar on the earth's surface. But when you go deep into it, you'll be captivated by its wrinkled walls, which stand like sculptures. These wrinkled rocks take on different shapes in the sunlight.
🛕✨ Walking through the desert canyon, the wind howls around you, and all you can see are strange rocks. The winding canyon seems endless, and we are like a small boat in the vast desert. These rocks seem like ancient cities abandoned by humans, full of mystery.
Tips
📍✨ Charyn Canyon
📍✨ About a 3-hour drive from downtown Almaty
📍✨ We recommend driving yourself if you have enough time. If you find renting a car troublesome or don't have a translated driver's license, we recommend booking a day tour 1–2 days in advance.

Exotic Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The last stop of this trip to Kazakhstan was Almaty, a city where traditional ethnic characteristics and modern civilization naturally meet. On the day we left, we visited the Ascension Cathedral⛪️, a very dreamy-looking Orthodox church. It is said to be the second tallest wooden structure in the world, built without any nails, and miraculously survived the strong earthquake in Almaty in 1911. It is also one of the few surviving buildings from the Tsarist period in Almaty.
The interior of the church is beautifully decorated, with bright murals on the walls and golden icons that are eye-catching. The sunlight shines through the stained glass, making the time spent here especially beautiful.
✈️ In the evening, we took Air Astana from Almaty back to Beijing. The flight was an Airbus 320, and the business class seats were spacious and comfortable, with plenty of legroom. As soon as I got on the plane, I felt completely relaxed, and there were many choices for dinner 😋 The shrimp rice was rich and delicious, and with the delicious smoked salmon 🍣 and creamy mushroom soup, it was definitely a sumptuous meal on board. The unlimited supply of drinks and beverages carried all the joy of our return trip.
Cheers in the clouds 🍷, safe landing in Beijing, goodbye Kazakhstan~

Everyone is asking where this is | Almaty Hotel.
📍Address: 181 Zheltoksan Street, Almaty
🚗Transport: Take the subway to Abay Station, then walk about 1.4 km to the hotel.
🌟Highlights: This hotel is in a great location! It's in the city center, very close to the subway station and Almaty Tower, just a few minutes' walk away. I think this is especially important for travel, as it can save a lot of time and transportation costs.
⛱Hotel environment: The hotel is exquisitely decorated, high-end and classy! In addition, the hotel rooms are very comfortable. The bed is soft, the bathroom is very spacious, and there is a large bathtub, which allows me to completely relax after a tiring day. The hotel's food and beverage is also great! There are not only a variety of local specialties, but also flavors from all over the world. I especially like their buffet breakfast, which is very rich and offers different foods every day.
💰Average cost: About CNY 2,000.
📌Tips: In short, I highly recommend InterContinental Hotels when you travel to Almaty, you won't be disappointed! If you've been to this hotel, share your thoughts with me!

I visited the 2nd largest canyon in the world 👀
#traveldiaries Visiting Charyn Canyon was an unforgettable experience. Nestled in Kazakhstan, this natural wonder took my breath away with its dramatic red rock formations and steep cliffs. Often referred to as the “Grand Canyon’s little brother,” Charyn Canyon has a unique charm of its own. As I walked along the canyon floor, I marveled at the intricate patterns carved by the wind and water over millions of years. The views from the top were stunning, stretching across the vast Kazakh steppe. The serenity of the place, combined with its rugged beauty, made it feel like I was in another world. Exploring its hidden trails and feeling the timelessness of the landscape was truly awe-inspiring.

Almaty | Charyn Canyon.
It's about a 2-hour drive from Almaty, and you'll start to see the vast grasslands. After another hour or so, you'll arrive at Charyn Canyon.
From the freezing mountains of Almaty to the scorching Charyn Canyon, it's like two different worlds.
There are two routes up and down the mountain, where you can either overlook the canyon or walk through the bottom of the canyon. The sky is so blue it's shocking, and the canyon is vast and open.
P.S. The valley walkway has a tour bus, and the "flying dust" it kicks up really ruins the walking experience.
