2024 Akita Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in November)
Today's Weather
Partly cloudy 3-7℃
This summer, play a different trip, go to Akita for the Lantern Festival!
In the summer, the Milky Way is like a pour, full of avenues, like lanterns made of rice bags, and cutting-edge pipa, showing a dreamy scene.
Use the long bamboo poles to form a cross shape, decorate the lights, and play the drums while traveling in the city. On the 12-meter raft, there are 46 lanterns hanging, such as the mature rice ears emitting golden brilliance. With such weight, the test is the ability to balance.
is one of the three major festivals in the Northeast. It was originally designed to drive away the summer sickness and evil spirits, but it is full of endless aesthetic fantasy, especially in the night sky, interesting and beautiful.
The men are working hard to hold the shackles. We are on the table, we are screaming, cheering, tacit understanding, and the scene is lively and spectacular. When we are nearing the end, we can touch all kinds of lanterns, pray, health and safety. .
Viewing date: 2019.8.3-8.6

Senshu park named autumn 🍂
#voyagevibes
Although it is a short distance from Akita Station, "senshu Park" is a Japanese garden with a very quiet and calm atmosphere. There used to be a castle of the Satake clan of the Akita clan, but it was rebuilt as a garden in the Meiji period. Historical buildings are scattered in the park, and the scene of the moat where lotuses are in full bloom is truly a superb view! It is a popular spot visited by many people during the cherry blossom season of more than 700 and the autumn leaves season that elegantly colour the Japanese garden.

Yunchang Temple's Hidden World of Hydrangea Flowers.
The hydrangea scenery at Yunchang Temple is a new attraction that has emerged in recent years. It is said that this ostentatiously blue sea of flowers was cultivated by the deputy abbot over 15 years. The hydrangeas bloom like a carpet, complemented by the temple's Moso bamboo forest and the beautiful views of the Sea of Japan at Oga. Admiring flowers, bamboo, and the sea, it is claimed to be one of the world's most desired sights to see before dying, and is definitely worth a personal visit.

Cherry Blossoms X Rapeseed Flowers on the Canola Flower Road
Visiting Akita, you should not miss Kakunodate. The Hinokinai River, a first-class river with a total length of 33 kilometers, runs through Akita Prefecture, and a small section of the riverbank that passes through the center of Kakunodate Town is planted with about 400 Somei Yoshino cherry trees, forming a pink avenue about 2 kilometers long, like clusters of pink cotton clouds accumulated above the winding river, earning the Hinokinai River embankment the beautiful name of 'Cherry Clouds'. Whether viewed from afar or up close, the endless cherry blossom river scenery, accompanied by the Ou Mountains with lingering snow, is a picturesque landscape worth sitting by the riverbank and savoring slowly. The beauty of the scenery has been listed by the nation as a designated Place of Scenic Beauty and one of the Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots. It is said that the first cherry tree here was planted in 1934 to commemorate the Emperor's birthday. Later, considering that planting trees on the riverbank might lead to embankment failure, there was once a plan to cut down the cherry trees, which was preserved for nearly a century thanks to the strong opposition from local residents. Watching girls dressed in traditional Akita costumes perform traditional dances, while others compete in singing Akita folk songs, there would be no lively Kakunodate Cherry Blossom Festival today without the persistence of the previous generation.

Akita Castle Ruins
#cherryblossom2024 A good memory of the kindness of strangers. Visited and asked for information in English man looked in cupboards and drawers but couldn't find any. I set off to look around it's a long way out of Akita and an Englishman is not an everyday occurrence. A few minutes later a lady who was as old as Moses came with a leaflet and showed me around we communicated with mimes and gestures she had seen me at the entrance and had gone across the road to the museum and got the leaflet. After showing me around the castle sight she showed me the way to the museum and accompanied me around that. She showed me the bus stop and when the bus came she told the bus driver where I was going, which I had written down in Japanese and English, she saw me safely on my way waving until the bus was out of sight.
Funoshi-no-taki falls
#cherryblossom2024 If you walk a little from the parking lot, there is a downside street, and if you get off there, there will be stairs soon.
If you go down the stairs, you can go quite close to the surface of the river.
The promenade is maintained, and if you walk along the road for a while, there is an upstairs.
If you go up it, you will come out to the grassland near the parking lot.
The scenery that can be seen on that route is as shown in the image.
The water is very clear and the scenery is beautiful.
I want to go again in the fall.
If you go deeper than the waterfall, there is a place to draw water.
The loyal Akita
Akita breed (秋田犬)was developed in early 17th century in the Akita prefecture of northern Japan. It is known for its courageous, clever, compassionate, and most importantly, loyal nature. Akita is very special to Japanese. When a child is born, the parents may receive an Akita figurine for happiness and longevity. The famous loyal Akita of the 1920’s named Hachiko (忠犬八公)is among Japan’s most cherished symbols. Helen Keller was the first American that brought this breed (a gift) to USA. There is a display of Akita inside the train station.
There’s a park called Senshu in this city. It is also a popular place to watch red maples.
The last picture is called Art Bell Ange by St Paul’s Church which is a place for weddings here.
The best ramen place in Akita. Food options are very good

The wisteria flowers are at their peak, and the sweet scent is floating around There are wisteria trellises in the irises garden and one other place, so it looks like it will be a little more fun.
The weather is nice for the first time in a while, and the irises are in full bloom. I took a walk in the sunlight filtering through the trees.
Taiheishan Resort Park
#thingstodo
I went a little further from Asahikawa Dam and stopped by as I did last year. "Taiheishan Resort Park" is equipped with leisure facilities such as hot springs, ski resorts, auto campsites, and ground golf courses.
The park is part of the facility, and the selling point is the vast lawn area. Although it was a little disappointing that the sky was cloudy, the autumn breeze blowing through was pleasant and refreshing.
For now, I took a walk around the grounds. First, there are the ginkgo trees. It's starting to turn a little yellow, but it's still a refreshing green.
And a row of cherry blossom trees. They are neatly spaced at equal intervals. The pavement serves as an accent and brings out the cherry blossom trees.
Omonogawa Kasen Ryokuchi Park

There are many people who come for walking and cycling around here. Apparently there's even a place where you can play golf. It's a place where you can let your dog play, but be careful as the water can quickly rise if it rains!
There is no play equipment, but there is a large lawn so you can walk your dog or play catch. In winter, you can often see families enjoying the snowy slopes on sleds.
Otakiyama Natural Park
#thingstodo
It takes about 40 minutes by bicycle from Akita Station. There were two ups and downs along the way, so I pushed my bike and walked without straining myself. Suddenly, you will see a house on the right side in the mountains, which is the park management office. There is a parking lot ahead, and there is a waterfall about 200m ahead.
There is tap water in the parking lot and management office.
Hitotsumori Park
#thingstodo
I came here after seeing the news about Suzutake.
It was growing wild along the stairs right next to the 5th parking lot. It is said that Suzutake only blooms once every 120 years, so it was great to be able to catch a glimpse of this rare sight. It was in full bloom along the stairs.
It's spacious and great for walking. It's a place to relax. There is also a parking lot. I was advised that it is beautiful to look at the starry sky at night.
Omoriyama Zoo ~ Cute and fun
#日本must-go check-in spots
Come to visit this large-scale Omoriyama Zoo, and you will see the vast area after entering.
Then we came to the bear area and saw the cute bears playing on the rooftop.
When passing by the orangutan area, I noticed that they are flexible in their movements.
During the tour, we also saw many birds and other animals, and the children had a great time playing.
After the visit, I became more understanding and fascinated by animals. I will definitely bring more relatives and friends next time.
ANA Crowne Plaza Akita
I stayed at this hotel when I stopped off in Akita during my trip to Tohoku.
I was interested in this hotel because it was rebranded as Crowne Plaza last year.
It is located in a good location, so you can get there from Akita Station without getting wet in the rain. Although it does not have its own parking lot, the Akita City parking lot is right in front of the hotel, so it is convenient to be able to get there without getting wet.
I don't know much about the previous interior, but the room I stayed in this time was clean and of course well-cleaned, so I had no problems staying there.
However, the shower with bathtub was the old type.
It is rare for a Crowne Plaza to have a club lounge, so I'm glad that there is a hotel like this in Akita.
Of course, it is comfortable and recommended as a place to stay when traveling to Akita.

Xi'an surrounding family camping farm.
Share with friends a farm where you can have fun all day for just over ten yuan per person. It's located on the most beautiful mountain road of Hongqingshan, Ba Lin Road, and it takes only 40 minutes to drive from Qujiang. The farm has large lawns and trees, which are perfect for camping. The farm provides free tents, or you can bring your own. The farm has arranged many experience projects for children, from digging eggs under the trees to feeding cute animals such as deer, rabbits, ducks, and pigs in the petting zoo. From duck racing to farming and planting, grass frisbee, to the jungle train on time, it is definitely the favorite project of every child. The whole process is led by teachers, and the biggest difference from previous parent-child products is that it completely frees the hands of parents, allowing them to chat and drink tea at ease. The farm provides afternoon tea, hot pot, and barbecue packages without time limit. Here, you can enjoy rare leisure time and it is a good choice.
