☑️DinnerYou can enjoy Aizu local cuisine and Japanese kaiseki cuisine. We recommend making a reservation for private rooms, semi-private rooms, and restaurant venues when you stay😊

➖Amenities➖Cleansing oil, face wash, lotion, and milky lotion are available in the large bath. Patterned yukatas are also available for rental for a fee. We recommend renting them when you check in! *The yukata worn is free. The building is very spacious, and you can enjoy a tea lounge, a bar, and Aizu sake! Castle from 1384
Tsuruga Castle is located in Aizu-Wakamatsu, Fukushima. This castle has been built since 1384. The red colored roof tiles are the signature of this castle.
The castle can be conveniently reached from Aizu-Wakamatsu station. We went here as a part of our 5-day Tohoku trip. We purchased the JR East Tohoku Pass that cost us 20,000.
I recommend visiting here during winter. The castle garden filled with fluffy snow is a must a see.

Tsuruga Castle (鶴ヶ城, Tsurugajō) was built in 1384 and changed hands many times between the different rulers of the Aizu region. It was destroyed after the Boshin War of 1868, a rebellion against the newly formed Meiji government, which had taken over control from the Tokugawa shogun and put an end to Japan's feudal era. Tsuruga Castle was one of the last strongholds of samurai loyal to the shogunate.

Aizuwakamatsu Station Ouchi-juku Train Fukushima tourist attractions
#train #fukushima #福岛游 #100 ways to travel
Aizuwakamatsu Aizuwakamatsu Station
This is the terminal station of JR and Aizu Railways.
Since this is the terminal and origin station, the platform is U-shaped, so there is no need to climb over the overpass to reach the platform on the other side. And the ticket gate is near the end of the platform, which is very convenient. SL Bankotsu Monogatari used to run on holidays, but now it runs a different train.
This station is also the station heading to Ouchi-juku. Ouchi-juku is located in the southwest of Aizuwakamatsu City. It is a group of thatched houses that have been preserved from the Edo period. It was designated as a "National Important Traditional Building" in Showa 56 (1981). "Property Protection Area", and since then a fairly complete residential and tourism plan has been planned to maintain the existing landscape based on the principle of "no selling, no renting, no destroying".

Learning History in Fukushima: The Site of the Byakkotai's Suicide
The Shinsengumi, often featured in historical novels, manga, and dramas, is related to the Byakkotai of Aizu-Wakamatsu. The Byakkotai was composed of boys aged 16 to 17, and their tragic end through suicide has been passed down in various forms. I visited this poignant site.
Thinking about how these young boys saw the castle burning from here and decided to take their own lives is heart-wrenching. However, the place offers a very scenic view, so even those not interested in history should consider visiting.
[Fukushima Prefecture] Tsuruga Castle
Aizuwakamatsu Castle, commonly known as "Tsuruga Castle", stands tall in a world of silvery white.
The castle, covered in snow on the roof and dyed white, was breathtakingly beautiful, like a sumi-e painting.
In winter, the sky is often covered with clouds, but if you are lucky enough to see blue skies, Tsuruga Castle's presence stands out even more, and you can feel it powerfully watching over the city of Aizu.
It's a very Japanese experience, and you can enjoy the painting-like scenery, which is highly recommended.
📍Location: 1-1 Oite-cho, Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture

Hotel Experience|Stay at Cultural Heritage-Aizu Mukataki Onsen Ryokan
Hotel name:
The most satisfying hotel I stayed at during my trip to see the snow in northeastern Japan at Christmas in 2019 was a century-old hot spring hotel with a long history hidden in the "Samurai City" Aizuwakamatsu Mountain. It was also the first hot spring hotel in Japan to be registered as a tangible cultural heritage. , suitable for travelers who are interested in experiencing traditional Japanese culture in depth.
📍Hotel address: Kawamukai-200 Higashiyamamachi Oaza Yumoto, 965-0814 Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan
⭐️Hotel design style:
The entire hotel is located in a valley, close to mountains and river valleys. You can hear original natural music when you open the windows. It inherits the teahouse architectural style of the early Showa era and is entirely made of solid wood. The large "Mukataki" sign hanging horizontally at the front door is particularly conspicuous. The sloping courtyard enclosed by the hotel is a highlight. You can see different scenery throughout the year: cherry blossoms in spring, fireflies in summer, red leaves in autumn and snow lanterns in winter. It's a pity that I couldn't experience the stunning scenery brought by the snowfall when I checked in on Christmas Eve.
⭐️Hotel facilities: This hotel retains most of its traditional details due to its historical heritage. It has a total of 24 rooms (you must make a reservation long in advance). It is not inferior to high-end hotels in terms of service, atmosphere, catering, hot springs and other facilities, so The price/performance ratio is also higher. It is said that the hotel has been passed down for the sixth generation. During our one-day stay, we were deeply impressed by its old objects and well-preserved historical traces of old traditions.
Breakfast and dinner will be delivered to the room for guests to enjoy at the time specified by the guests.
⭐️Hotel services:
Although the hotel is not the most top-notch, the internal services are very friendly and in place. The hot springs are comfortable, the food is delicious, the service is friendly, and the traditional rooms are very clean. It is very suitable for hot spring travel enthusiasts who want to enjoy a slow pace.

The accommodation and food🍽 were highly rated, so we were really looking forward to it!
When we actually tried dinner there, we found that the restaurant was lively and had a live kitchen.
They also had a good selection of local cuisine, and the food that you can only get here will be a memorable part of your trip😊🎶

[Northeast Japan] Aizuwakamatsu Castle: one of the top 100 famous cities in Japan, with charming historical buildings
# ancient building
Aizuwakamatsu Castle is located in Fukushima Prefecture in northeastern Japan. It is one of the top 100 famous cities in Japan. This castle with a long history is the only castle in Japan where you can see red tiles, showing the style of the 17th century.
During the Boshin War in 1868, Aizuwakamatsu Castle was able to hold on to the castle for about a month in the face of fierce attacks by the new government troops. This period of history earned the castle the reputation of being "difficult to capture."
There is a museum inside the castle tower that displays the history and culture of Aizuwakamatsu Castle. Looking from the top floor, you can see the mountains in the distance blending into the urban buildings, giving you a panoramic view of the entire castle town.
The charm of Aizuwakamatsu Castle lies not only in its history and architecture, but also in the changing seasons. In spring, there will be 1,000 cherry blossom trees in bloom in the park🌸. I hope to have the opportunity to visit again during the cherry blossom season.

The scenery of Aizu city
Places not planned
I got off the train early and originally thought I would sit quietly in the station for an hour waiting for the next train, but I couldn't sit still. Even though it was super cold outside, I chose to go out for a walk.
What a surprise and the scenery is amazing! ! ! !
Tadami line in the morning
If possible, I would like to enjoy the view of Tadami Line again
I am lucky enough to be able to see and appreciate the original scenery on site. It is simply a great enjoyment.
It's a pity that I missed the departure time of the first train
If possible, be sure to leave early

Perched proudly amidst the historic city of Aizuwakamatsu, Tsuruga Castle stands as a testament to Japan's rich cultural heritage and samurai legacy. As the family journeyed to this iconic symbol of feudal power, they were enveloped in the ambiance of centuries past, where tales of honor and valor echoed through the castle's ancient walls. Exploring the castle grounds, they discovered a world steeped in tradition and history, from the majestic keep to the meticulously manicured gardens that whispered of bygone eras.
Looking ahead, the family dreams of embarking on a journey to the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu, nestled high in the Andes Mountains of Peru. With each step along the Inca Trail, they eagerly anticipate uncovering the mysteries of this ancient citadel and forging connections with the timeless spirit of the Andes.
