2025 Wuhan University Cherry Blossom Viewing Guide

2025 Wuhan University Cherry Blossom Viewing Guide

Hey everyone! I spent a whole week in Wuhan just to see the cherry blossoms at Wuhan University. I was on the edge of my seat every day, hoping I wouldn't miss the blooming season. After all, missing it would mean waiting another year. Location: Wuhan University 🚙Transportation: Private vehicles are not allowed on campus. Public transportation is recommended. I entered through the Luojia Gate this time and checked in at the Wuhan University archway. Then I went straight to Cherry Blossom Avenue, the main spot for cherry blossom viewing. Afterward, I visited the Old Dormitory, the 912 Playground (where you can get the same camera angle as Lei Jun), the Administration Building, and Renwen Road. I think the core area is the circle around the 912 Playground, where you can see not only romantic cherry blossoms but also delicate crabapple blossoms. There's a patch of cherry blossoms on Renwen Road and near the Zhuoer Gymnasium. The flowers there are especially beautiful, and most importantly, there are fewer people, making it perfect for taking photos. Walking from Luojia Gate to the archway, you'll see two booths. One sells cultural and creative products like notebooks, badges, fridge magnets, bookmarks, and Wuhan's special "Bird of Peace"—the Suan Bird merchandise. The other booth has small games where you can win Wuhan University badges and postcards. Both booths offer stamps, so remember to bring your own notebook. 💰Tickets: Free, but reservations are required. See the reservation guide below ↓ From March 12–28, you can book your visit for 3 days later starting at 8pm each night. Search for the "Wuhan University" official account on WeChat, click on "Cherry Blossom Reservation," and enter your information in advance as required to increase your chances of getting a reservation. There are two reservation checks when entering the school, one at the main gate and one at the core area. Be sure to bring your ID card and reservation voucher.

Wuhan University Cherry Blossom Castle | Spring Romance When Cherry Blossoms Bloom

Wuhan University Cherry Blossom Castle | Spring Romance When Cherry Blossoms Bloom

Cherry blossoms are in full bloom along the Wuhan University School Hospital Road and in Guishan Park. Wuhan University: One of the most beautiful universities in China, it blends cherry blossoms with Republican-style architecture, creating a rich cultural atmosphere. Ascend the Old Dormitory and look down to see a stunning spring scene of green glazed tiles and pink and white petals. Along Cherry Blossom Avenue, the roadside cherry blossoms resemble clouds and mist. Cherry Blossom Varieties: Approximately 1,000 trees. Primarily Japanese cherry blossoms (Somei Yoshino), complemented by early-blooming, late-blooming, and mountain cherry blossoms, resulting in staggered blooming periods (from early March to early April). Core Cherry Blossom Viewing Areas: Cherry Blossom Avenue (in front of the Old Dormitory), Kunpeng Square, around the Administration Building, the Science Building, and the slope of the Wanlin Art Museum. Best Visiting Routes: Classic Route (approx. 2 hours): School Gate Archway → Kunpeng Square (concentration of early-blooming cherry blossoms) → Cherry Blossom Avenue (Old Dormitory + panoramic cherry blossom view) → Old Library (overlooking cherry blossoms) → Wanlin Art Museum (slope cherry blossoms + modern art exhibition). Less Crowded Route: Enter through "Lingbo Gate" and stroll along "Science Building → Fengyuan → Administration Building" to avoid the crowds in the main scenic area. Wuhan University's official WeChat public account/website is expected to open reservations 3 days in advance (e.g., March 12–30, 2024, with a daily limit of 15,000 people). There are currently two places on campus where cherry blossoms are blooming: ① The lawn in front of the Fifth Teaching Building (p13-14 every tree is crowded with people; if you arrive in the afternoon, it's not recommended to go here, as there are only three or four trees). ② The blossoms at Luojia Mountain Villa are much more abundant, with more and taller trees than at the Fifth Teaching Building, offering more photo opportunities. Because it takes nearly 20 minutes to walk there, there are fewer people. You don't need to bring a stool, as the area is on a slope and relatively low. ps: The entrance to Luojia Mountain Villa is blocked for construction, so you need to go around from the slope. The above photos were taken around 3 p.m. today, March 1. It was cloudy and the photos didn't turn out well. Sunny days or using a light reflector are recommended. 💡【Travel Tips】 📍Address: 16 Luojia Mountain Street, Wuchang District, Wuhan City 🚗Transportation: Take Subway Line 2 and get off at Jiedaokou Station.
