HIROSHIMA japan

#japantrip Hiroshima, a city of resilience and hope, is both a historical and cultural treasure in Japan. Best known for its Peace Memorial Park and Museum, it serves as a powerful reminder of the atomic bombing in 1945, while advocating for global peace. The iconic Atomic Bomb Dome and the Children’s Peace Monument evoke deep reflection. Beyond its poignant history, Hiroshima offers natural beauty and vibrant culture. Nearby Miyajima Island, home to the floating torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine, is breathtaking. Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, a savory pancake, is a must-try. This city beautifully blends solemn history with a vibrant, forward-looking spirit.

Miyajima Island

While still in sakura season, I found myself throwing back to the time when I was in Japan. Visited Miyajima island where there is shrine and temple forest as well as sakura. The beauty of it is that I was able to capture the moment of sea (at embarkation point) when sun shine so brightly and sunset. It's a great thing that can be seen by the eyes and captured by the camera. Walking around, I saw the pagoda/temple but didn't go in as I'm not a temple visitor. I also saw the shrine but dare not to go closer. So I was just enjoying the view, sakura and sun while walking around the island. Time really flies, you can spend a day walk around here. #japan #explorer #traveltojapan

Hiroshima: Visit Hiroshima Castle

Hiroshima Castle (広島城, Hiroshimajo), also known as the 'Carp Castle,' is one of the famous tourist attractions in Hiroshima Prefecture, located in the city. The beautifully restored castle now serves as a history museum showcasing the culture of warriors and the history of the castle itself. Who says visiting castles is boring? Not at all! I loved it. Let's take a look at the atmosphere. Before reaching the castle, you pass by a temple where you can pray, and then through a garden. I imagine that during the autumn foliage season or the cherry blossom season, the castle would be even more beautiful. I want to visit in every season. Hiroshima Castle was built by Terumoto Mori and is also known as Rijo. The castle tower was destroyed by the atomic bomb and was rebuilt in 1958. The stone walls and inner fences are likely still in good condition. I admired the view from the outside; it was truly beautiful. Admission: Free except for the castle itself. The castle has an entrance fee. Opening hours: March-November 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM December-February 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Closed: December 29 to January 2 How to get there: 1. Take the Meipuru-pu Bus Stop: No.2 or No.4 and get off at Johoku (Hiroshima Castle/Hiroshima Gokoku Shrine). It's about a 7-minute walk. 2. Take the tram to Tram Stop: (M9) Kamiyacho-nishi or (M9) Kamiyacho-higashi. It's about a 10-minute walk. Hiroshima Castle (広島城, Hiroshimajo) Address: 21-1 Motomachi, Naka-ku, Hiroshima-shi, Hiroshima-ken 730-0011

Hiroshima 💣 🏛️

#timetotravel When the first atomic bomb was dropped over Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, the city became known worldwide for this unenviable distinction. The destructive power of the bomb was tremendous and obliterated nearly everything within a two kilometer radius. After the war, great efforts were taken to rebuild the city. Predictions that the city would be uninhabitable proved false. Destroyed monuments of Hiroshima's historical heritage, like Hiroshima Castle and Shukkeien Garden, were reconstructed. In the center of the city a large park was built and given a name that would reflect the aspirations of the re-born city: Peace Memorial Park.

Autumn 2019 in Hiroshima, Japan!

Autumn 2019 in Hiroshima, Japan!

It has been a while… reminiscing the wonderful days we spent in Japan’s Hiroshima prefecture 3 years ago in Nov 2019. From losing our luggage at the start of the trip to the last few days of our stay at Hiroshima Airport Hotel, it was all worth it. It was our first ever autumn experience and it was magical! Started off the trip at Osaka-Kyoto-Nara, and travelled eastward to Himeji-Miyajima-Totori (sand dunes!) then ended off the trip at Hiroshima. I’ll let my photos do the rest of the talking (: Now that Covid-19 travel and safe management measures in Japan have eased, can’t wait to pack a trip back to the land of the rising sun again! Time to start planning… Japan here we come in 2023 and beyond!

Street of Indulgence (Omotesandō)

This street is located on Miyajima Island, Hiroshima. When in Hiroshima, take the train to Miyajimaguchi station. Transfer to the ferry terminal to take a 10-min boat ride over to the island. Miyajima is famous for their oysters. The farmers would hang them on floating wooden platforms. And only harvest them once the platform sinks from the weight of the oysters. You can find many different variants of along this street. The ones we tried are the skewers with yuzu sauce and the salted ones straight from the shell. Besides oysters, they are famous for a maple leaf shaped dessert that’s usually stuffed with a sweet paste (red bean). Ice cream, $1 drink refills, fragrant matcha tea and snacks, sashimi, sushi, and many many more things. This street will truly feed you till you’re stuffed and satisfied. #foodie #awesomepic #tripblazers #japan

Japan Takamatsu|An Unexpected Treasure City

Japan Takamatsu|An Unexpected Treasure City

An Unexpected Treasure City Although I missed the Setouchi Triennale which happens every two years, both the city and the island hopping are filled with an artistic atmosphere. Choosing this place as a buffer after returning from America was a wise decision. It helped me reacquaint myself with Asian culture, Asian cuisine, and Asian faces, experiencing the cleanest, most tranquil, and most artisanal side of East Asia. Day 1 Tokyo-Takamatsu An early flight means a long day to enjoy. Kagawa Prefecture is the hometown of Slowpoke, and you can see its presence everywhere. After checking in, I immediately rushed to eat Sanuki Udon. Delicious and healthy! In the evening, I had Japanese pork cutlet rice. Ritsurin Garden is the most famous park in the city. The green gardens are especially precious in the city. You can row a boat or feed the fish. I thought there wasn't much to see in Takamatsu, but I was completely wrong. There are plenty of things to buy! Tamamo Park is by the sea, where you can see the Seto Inland Sea and the passing ships. It's very comfortable. Day 2 Takamatsu-Naoshima I didn't expect so many tourists on Naoshima! Of course, the first stop is Yayoi Kusama's Red Pumpkin, but I think the yellow one looks better. Then I recommend Hiroshi Sugimoto's Time Corridor. The outdoor glass teahouse is so pure, and you can also enjoy traditional Japanese sweets and tea. Then there's the Chichu Art Museum (with works by Monet and Tadao Ando) and finally the Lee Ufan Museum. Besides the seaside, the island is full of art museums. As long as you check the timetable or ride a bike, transportation is not a problem. Art lovers must visit. The slow boat is also very comfortable. In the evening, I found a local izakaya and had grilled chicken thighs (bone-in chicken). Day 3 Takamatsu-Teshima A smaller island with fewer tourists than Naoshima. A fast boat takes half an hour to get there. The Teshima Art Museum (and café) and the Heartbeat Museum are worth checking out. On the last day of the gap season, I chose to record my heartbeat and make it into a CD. There's a strawberry dessert shop on the island with super delicious shaved ice, just a 5-minute walk from the pier. The island is so quiet, it really feels like time stands still. Day 4 Leaving Takamatsu to return home. It was indeed very hot these days, but taking beautiful photos made me very happy. This trip is coming to an end, a million times unwilling to leave.
