Yueliangwan in Wenchang with My Wife & Son 😌

At first glance, Wenchang seems like another normal remote location in Hainan, but when you look deeper you can see that it is an oasis for anyone looking for peace & quiet. Yueliangwan beach is about an hour taxi ride away from Wenchang train station and it where we found ourselves during the second half of our trip in Wenchang. The food there was great, especially the fish. They also specialize in chicken with their signature Wenchang Chicken dish. Yueliangwan is literally in the middle of nowhere, but it’s perfect for some like me. When you get to the water, the coast stretches for as long as the eyes can see. This beach is very different from other beaches in Hainan because the sand is completely flat, leading to a smooth walk on the beach. There are so many different types of little clams, crabs, and shell fish. You can literally see so many people casting nets in the water. The people are also very nice and happy people. You can tell that they really enjoy their lives. We spent hours there collecting shells, admiring the sky, and jumping into the water. Coconut Forest 🌴

#summerbreak Driving around Hainan took us to the coconut forest in Wenchang. I just love the view of coconut trees so this was the perfect spot to start the vacation. Summer is super warm in Hainan however it was manageable even for a Norwegian. We stayed at Hilton and drove to different places during the day. I could totally recommend Wenchang chicken, it is a local delicacy that we tried on the first night. We also tried some local dimsum at a small restaurant by the sea. We also had a morning walk to shitou park, from the parking you have to walk abit to come to the cool stones. we came early and got the place almost to ourselves. #travel #hainan #wenchang

Watch the sunrise at Yilong Bay Sea Library

One must mention the Yilong Bay Sea Library when it comes to Wenchang. It is a maritime complex located in the bay of the Yilong Bay community, connected by a 200-meter-long pier. It is said that there are some books inside, but it seems that there might not be too many, and most people probably don't go there to read. The majority of visitors come for the scenery and to take photos, and there are also some fishing enthusiasts who live nearby and often fish here. The entire complex looks like it has a Southeast Asian style. The beach by the sea here is very shallow, and in the morning, one can walk dozens of meters into the sea without the water reaching above the knees, making it suitable for watching the sunrise and sea foraging.
