Small and cute place to be. Once you get to the train station or bus stop, give them a call and they will come pick you up. You can walk if you want, but it does go uphill a little bit if you have suitcase with you. Staff is really nice and accommodating. We did have one of our friends ending up pregnant on the trip after we had booked the trip and she was not able to eat many of the foods. They were really nice and worked with what she could eat and even gave her a little omamori (like a charm) for her healthy and safe pregnancy and birth. Would recommend to others. The individual onsen in each room is wonderful and if you want to have more people gather together, get the bigger rooms. Mt. Fuji is visible but understand that it depends on time of day and season. Due to the smaller space, there is only one area to gather downstairs, which is also where you check in. Not a big deal for us, but for those who wants like a whole area to walk around in the hotel, then may want to look at those bigger hotels.

Our family made a special trip from Tokyo to Nagano, and besides exploring the surrounding attractions, watching the snow monkeys soaking in the hot springs of Nozawa, and visiting the Togakushi Shrine, the highlight of this trip was staying at Issa no Komichi Biyu no Yado. We are very impressed with the hotel service.The hotel makes travel convenient and smooth.There are pick-up and drop-off fromYudanaka Station to the hotel and drop-off at Monkey onsen.The hotel is in the good location,in the heart of Shibu Onsen, beutiful view of the mountian and river in front.The beer, white and red wine in the refrigerator in the room are free.The onsen is not very big but clean.Dinner and breakfast are fresh and delicious. Shibu Hotel is a very good hotel,worth staying.

I only stayed one night in this beautiful ryokan and in Yamanouchi but I could easily have stayed longer, as there seems to have trekking opportunities in the area. The ryokan itself is great on all levels: clean, quiet at night and has an authentic feel. The staff is very helpful and speaks fluent English. When you arrive, it will provide you with traditional Japanese clothing in which you'll wander by the streets, go to restaurants and most importantly, explore the 9 public and free onsen in the village. I slept in a 3 bed dormitory and hadn't slept so well for several days. A free shuttle service will bring you to the next bus station (perhaps train station as well)

When I arrived at Yudanaka Station, I tried to call on my cell phone, but the phone didn't work, so I was able to request a shuttle service with the help of the station staff. It didn't take long for the staff to come and we were able to move quickly and comfortably. From the time I arrived, they came out to the door and greeted me kindly, and they kindly explained the nearby hot spring tour and the use of the ryokan facilities. We were a family of four (2 adults, 2 children), but the accommodation was not small. Dinner on the day of check-in and breakfast the next day were provided, and the meals were delicious, and the staff who served the food were also very kind. When I returned to the room after dinner, a cozy blanket was set up, so I could rest comfortably. When I checked out the next day, I was able to go to the monkey park through the shuttle service. Overall, all the staff were very kind, so I felt good. The facilities were clean, and there were many things to see around, so I definitely want to go again next time. I highly recommend it to others.

Because we wanted to watch the fireworks festival and experience the hot springs, we booked a room here. We were greeted by a grandfather. It was a little late and raining when we arrived at Yudanaka. The grandfather came to pick us up. It was very comfortable to soak in the hot springs. Yudanaka should not be the peak tourist season. Maybe we arrived too late and left too early. The road was very deserted and there were not many people.

There are very few restaurants nearby. You have to take a bus to Ichinose to find a few more. There are very few choices. And the most important point is that the road from the bus station to the hotel is not a flat road. It is like a ski slope. It is difficult to imagine that you will be delayed. It’s difficult for the two of us to walk to the hotel on the sloping snowy road. There’s not much problem with the rooms in the hotel. Everything else is good.

The hotel is elegantly decorated, with exquisite furnishings and a very Japanese style. The hotel is about 500 meters away from Yudanaka Station. It is not in the same location as the Shibu Onsen Street and the hotel group near Yudanaka Station. It is a slightly deserted location. This Japanese-style river view room has a large area, is very warm in the room, and the window view is also unique. The room facilities are also complete, and there are drinks and snacks for check-in. However, the Japanese tatami feels a bit hard, and the pillow feels bumpy when sleeping. The sound insulation is poor, and you can hear footsteps upstairs. The breakfast is relatively rich, but there are more Japanese meals, and I am not used to it. The overall feeling is still good.

It was a very fun 2 nights and 3 days! It was the time of check-in that I was worried about before going. It was from 16 o'clock and I thought it was late ～. Arrived before 15 o'clock. If you thought you would go skiing as it was after check-in, you were ready for the room, so I was able to pass it. Thank you for upgraded to ”this is convenient”. I was happy with the room with a high top floor with a high ceiling and a snowy view. It was easy to get in and out of the ski locker and come back from skiing. I was happy with the air spray at the entrance of the ski area. I enjoyed the sunset from the bath and the pool. 3 days, we were able to enjoy it ＼ (^-^) ／

Easy to go to Giant Ski Area because there is a slope to ski area directly. But I don't recommend for beginner to go ski area from this slope. And you can't go back to the hotel from this way, you have to go back by gondola to Yamanoeki and walk 300m. Too far if you walk with skies or snowboard. Yukata is not free of charge, you have to pay 300 yens for rent. There is a shower room in your room but you can't use it because there is ONLY cold water(hot water doesn't work). Some breakfast menu is not enough for customers. But dinner is ok.

Excellent location next to ski lift at Sun Valley. 3 mins walk to the local bus station with buses going to Nagano Station direct (express service) or Yudanaka station. Room and bath room (2 basins and 1 sink) are spacious - we had 3 futons and 2 single beds for our family of 5. They may be a little dated but very clean. Room has a view to outside snowy forest during our time. Highlights of our stay: Half board meals - authentic Japanese! Big portions and lots of pretty and dishes served! Free coffee everyday in late afternoon. Service was impeccable - the front desk lady (very friendly and excellent service disposition) , and the elderly folks who served in the restaurant - thumbs up!

Loved the hotel! It’s old, yes, but clean and well maintained. The proprietors were also really sweet — when there was a large tour group in the dining hall, they offered to shift us to the lounge instead. Perfect location for ski in- ski out, and really delicious breakfast and dinners :) 10/10 would return!!

家族行事のリンゴ狩りを毎年この季節に行なっていて、今まで長野の色々なホテルに宿泊していました。今年は一戸建てを貸していただけるactive houseに予約。子ども達も含め大人数で予約しましたが、一戸建てを借りているため、家の中でどれだけ遊ぼうと、周囲の目を気にしなくて良いのはとても良かったです。また、11月中旬の寒い時期ではありましたが、庭でのBBQも楽しめました。ピザ釜もあり外のテラスで防寒対策をして昼食をたべました。家の中で料理した際も、調理器具も揃っているため、助かりました。部屋数も多く、普段自分の部屋を持っていない子供達は、一人部屋に大興奮し、夜になるとそれぞれ部屋で一人で寝ていました。部屋にはカメ虫が多く出ると、管理人の方がガムテープを用意してくれていたため、子ども達がゲームのように部屋の中で見つけては捕まえてくれて安心でした。夜の星空が綺麗で、裏の駐車場に行ったところ、鹿が4匹歩いているのを見ました。度々電話やメールで管理人さんに問い合わせた際には、とても親切に対応して下さりました。家族でゆっくり過ごせました。また利用させていただきます
