Great Ryokan and food. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this place. From the outside it didn’t look like a hotel for tourists but we’re pleasantly surprised after we stepped inside. It’s a beautiful Ryokan and probably the best in the area. Only complaint is there’s nothing much else around. Most of the restaurants are closed for business and not many shops around as well.

The hotel has two sister stores, namely "Zao International" and "Zao Four Seasons" where you can soak in hot springs for free. The hotel also provides three public hot spring coupons and discounted "Open-air Hot Spring" tickets. If the clerk does not introduce it, just ask for it. !

Although it's a pity that you can't take a shower in the bathroom, it's also unique to be able to wear a different yukata to go to the bath every day ~ and the massage chair in the living room is super comfortable! The service staff are all very friendly and the meals are very rich. They are all made from local ingredients and are great!

The room is large and clean, and the service and meals are very good. There is no elevator, and someone will carry your luggage up when you check in. It's just that the room only has a toilet and no shower, which is a bit inconvenient. Hot spring ♨️very good

We loved the whole experience at Omiya Ryokan in Zao Onsen. We had a spacious and generously proportioned corner room and a lovely view over the village. The Kaiseki dinners and breakfasts were incredible and so carefully served. Omiya’s staff were lovely, and I want especially to mention Ishiyama-san for her wonderful help in making forward bookings for us and organising our suitcase to be sent onwards. She was always so smiling and patient. The ryokan’s Onsen was beautiful and we enjoyed it every day, wearing our Omiya yukatas. The outside onsen foot-bath was a lovely touch, and, hoping for enough late-season snow we even managed two lovely ski days!

I stayed here when I went to see the frost-covered trees. The food at night was especially amazing. Each dish was carefully prepared and was a joy to look at and eat. Above all, everyone was very kind and I would definitely like to stay here again.

📍Location: It’s about a 5-minute walk from the station, very convenient. 🤵🏻Service: Free shuttle service from Zao Onsen Bus Terminal to the hotel is provided, but the frequency is sparse and a reservation is required three days in advance. 🏠Room: Japanese-style room (one room, two meals) HKD1931 + hot spring tax ¥ 300 Advantages: 🤩The whole floor is paved with tatami floors, so you don’t need to wear slippers. You can wear new socks provided by the hotel or walk barefoot. The entire hotel has a large The shared space provides free tea, 😍massage chairs and board games, and you can enjoy the sunset at dusk🥰. The room is very large. There is a staircase at the door. It is equipped with a TV, a mini refrigerator, a dressing table and a separate toilet. In the evening, there will be staff laying out Japanese-style beds, and the whole place has strong retro Japanese elements. Disadvantages: There is no elevator. The staff will help carry luggage upstairs, but they can't speak English, and they don't take the initiative to give free tickets to the attached hot springs. They are average for foreign tourists😩. In addition, the hotel is too big and the corridors are all the same, so it is easy to get lost in them😂. Hot spring: A smaller indoor hot spring♨️. Sometimes the men's and women's baths are interchanged, and the environment is not the same. There is also an open-air bath for a fee, but we didn't go because we had already soaked enough😅. ♨️The hotel also has two sister hotels, Zao International Hotel and Zao Four Seasons Hotel, but their availability is limited to before 3 o'clock, so we missed it when we checked in☹️, what a pity! There are also three public indoor hot spring rooms that can be used for free. We visited all of them in one night😝. They all have the same layout, so it doesn’t matter if you don’t go😑!

This is an inn located at the very back of Zao Onsen. It is a natural hot spring and apparently has the largest amount of water in Zao Onsen. The water is highly acidic. They welcome solo travelers. As I arrived at the inn late, I was able to skip dinner. They take care of my needs. It is a traditional inn and I really like it. I had breakfast this time. It was served on an individual tray and all the ingredients were very delicious. Next time, I will choose this inn again and plan a time to have a leisurely dinner.

It's been a while since I've been to Zao Onsen, so I decided to stay at a hotel that was a little better than my usual price range. Is it bad to have too much of a good image when looking at the images on HP? I felt it was not worth the price. The attitude of the man at the front desk is too bad. There is zero sense of welcome in his attitude. If this is the case, please stop working in this type of job. Since I don't like having my bed covered in futons, I chose the Hollywood Twin, but the building at the back seemed to be the type of hotel I was staying in, and I finally reached it after going through a maze of long hallways and stairs that seemed to go on forever. . It seems that this room should not be chosen by those who intend to bathe in the hot springs many times. No matter how many hours past the check-in time, you'll find employees making repairs here and there, and vendors with stepladders wandering around along the long hallway. And a bath. The open-air bath is hot. If I put my foot in it, it would burn. Stinging. Women came in one after another, all jumping out or leaving in a hurry. That's because it's boiling water. When I got out of the bathroom and went to the front desk, only the same guy who checked in was there. When I reluctantly told her, she simply replied, "I measure the temperature when changing rooms!" teeth? ? ? After that, I went to the bath at night and in the morning, but the hot water in the open air did not change. I couldn't take a bath in the open-air bath right in front of me until the end, so I could only bathe in the indoor bath. I stayed to enjoy the hot springs, especially the open-air bath, but I was not satisfied at all. This is an inn I don't want to stay at again.

I stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights while taking part in a trail running competition. Perhaps because it has been thoroughly renovated, the corridors and rooms are clean and it retains the charm of an old-fashioned inn that hotels don't, so I was able to stay there comfortably. In particular, the corridors are all tatami mats, so there are no slippers and you have to either walk barefoot or wear the new socks provided, which I think is a good idea from a hygienic standpoint as well. There was a generous amount and variety of meals for both breakfast and dinner, and the dishes were delicious, made with local ingredients. There are also 3 outdoor baths nearby that guests can use free of charge, which was great to be able to use for free even after running. Also, because a notice has been issued to refrain from allowing children under elementary school age to use the facility, I thought it was wonderful that there was a calm atmosphere inside the building and during meals.

Stayed for skiing. Below are my impressions of Omiya Ryokan. 1: The access to the entrance is about 5 meters, but it is steep and extremely dangerous. In winter, snow and ice often cover up to five meters. Wearing ski boots and carrying skis down the mountain is a high risk. 2: Inside the building, the restaurant and corridors are tatami-matted and have an indescribable atmosphere. but narrow. The ceiling is also low, so I feel a sense of oppression. The worst thing is that the ups and downs in the hall are continuous, probably because it is built on a slope, and the point where you can not see the end of the passage. I felt very unsafe in an emergency. There should have been some safety guidance (including emergency exits) in the process of being led to the room, but there is none. I can only think that the manager of the museum, the top manager of Omiya International Shiki, has a dull sense of safety. 3: The front staff was friendly and the guidance was clear, accurate, and kind. The restaurant was also created by a team of young people as key persons to create a comfortable space. A casual word or two will make travelers happy. I felt Yamagata hospitality. The menu itself is beef rotation. Very difficult for long-term residents. It's not just Omiya Ryokan, but it's an Ultra One pattern for the entire Zao area. It's a pity that there is no change or uniqueness in the menu within the international and four seasons Omiya series. 4: I visited Omiya Ryokan on a hot spring tour last season, but I felt that the temperature of the water was very low. Also, I wonder why it's so dark. Omiya Ryokan's hot spring itself is not very satisfying, although it may be due to the small size that you cannot enjoy the view of the four seasons and the relaxing feeling of Kokusai. 5: There are two massage chairs in the lounge. The back is torn and the internal arms and kneading balls are exposed. It is a low-level situation that deceives by putting a cover on it. Common blankets are placed to protect against the cold, but I am surprised that there are no common items under the corona. In Shiki no Massage Chair, Febreze is placed and you can see the intention to deal with Corona, but at Omiya Ryokan, I noticed a low awareness of Corona. In addition, fireworks are launched in Zao during the winter peak season. Many foreigners stay at Omiya Ryokan, but it is different from my feeling to go up to the window frame part of the lounge and look in the direction of the fireworks with the window open in the middle of winter. The same goes for putting your feet up on the table and relaxing. Guidance on using hot springs is posted in multiple languages, so I would like you to consider whether it is appropriate to respond to overseas guests. The language skills of the staff (although I only had the opportunity to hear them in English) gave me the impression that they were lagging behind global standards. Isn't it a matter of course now that managers and others are fully accountable for their actions through words (including Japanese)? 6: Omiya Ryokan does not have a coin laundry. There is no choice but to walk one way to Shiki, taking a little over 20 minutes. On the way out, it's a snowy road, but it's going down. On the way back, the climb continues. Let's buy hot drinks at Lawson on the way back to Omiya Ryokan. Detergents that can be used free of charge are placed in the four seasons. Shiki Lounge has popsicles that Omiya Ryokan does not have. It takes some time to wash and dry. We recommend visiting hot springs in the four seasons. 7: These days, every hotel has a humidifying air purifier. Omiya Ryokan (although it may be limited to the room where I happened to stay) does not have that. There is a humidifier with a small capacity, but if the heater is on, the tank will be empty while you are sleeping, and you will wake up with a strong sore throat at dawn. Please be careful in a room that receives a direct blow of hot air. There are no clinics or prescription pharmacies in Zao. There is only a souvenir that sells some over-the-counter medicines at the end of the slope in front of Omiya Ryokan.
