Toyoko Inn is located a few minutes walk from Yamagata Station. It is a safe and stable Toyoko Inn, and the facilities are the same as usual. I had a comfortable stay with no issues with cleanliness. There were not many restaurants in Shui, but there were many if you went to the other side of the station. This is a safe and comfortable accommodation that we can recommend.

The amount of food is great. We stayed with a plan of 13,600 yen per person with a mini steak attached to Japanese kaiseki. If you avoid the high season, you can stay here at a very reasonable price. I am very happy to be able to eat local food. I think even men are satisfied with the amount. The hot spring is also cloudy and the source is 51 degrees, so it is a little hot, but there is a sulfur smell, and the skin became smooth after soaking. It is a bath where you can feel that the hot spring ingredients are working. Be sure to remove precious metals before entering. The bath isn't that big, but you can use it 24 hours a day, so if you change the time, you can relax in a reserved state. There is also an open-air bath, so you can cool down your hot body in the indoor bath. The Japanese-style room has a washlet toilet and an ashtray in the room, so it is recommended for smokers. The room was clean and well-maintained. At night, even if the screen door is always closed, a few insects come in. It was cool and there were no mosquitoes. The TV in the room is small, about 14 inches. The breakfast was voluminous and delicious. It's cool in the mornings and evenings, so it's comfortable to escape the summer heat. There was heating in the room, but it was comfortable without air conditioning. There was also a convenience store about 5 minutes away on foot.

Kurosawa Onsen Kisaburo is located in Yamagata and about 5 minutes by car from Zao Station. Guest rooms offer view on Ryuo and Zao and yukata are available for guests to wear during their stay. Facilities include a karaoke room, a BBQ area, a communal bath and an open-air bath, which water is retrieved directly from the natural hot spring source. The hotel offers Japanese multi-course meals featuring local and seasonal ingredients. The hotel possesses 23 guest rooms.
It is an old hotel, so you may not want to take a bath in your room, but their public bath is good. This place is on the hill which means you will not want to walk by your own in winter because of the slippery Mountain path. But in other hand it is really convenient because they provide shuttle bus to bus station or cable car station. And there is a ski place just in front of the hotel, you can borrow the equipments from hotel.
About 45 minutes from JR Yamagata Station. Located at the highest altitude of 960m among Zao onsen resorts, this hotel is closest to Zao Yokokura Slope. To say nothing of the best location for skiing in winter, you can enjoy cooler highland climate in summer.
The check-in time was 3 o'clock, but I arrived 25 minutes early, so I thought I'd just check in, but when I entered, I was told that it would start at 3 o'clock and was kicked out.I was asked to come back after 3 o'clock. This is the first time this has happened to me. is. Many hotels usually let you wait in the lobby or let you enter if you are ready. I stayed for several nights, but at first I was told that the fee would be paid at the time of check-out, but when I returned on the second day, I was suddenly asked to pay the fee.And when I entered the parking lot, there were about 50 customers coming today, so I stopped. All of the staff members I asked were female, but the male staff were very polite and nice, and the room was very clean and nice. I'm disappointed because the reviews have been good recently. I stayed with breakfast included, and the breakfast was delicious. I would like to eat dinner if I have a chance.
The location of the hotel is convenient. It takes about 30 minutes by bus from Yamagata Train Station to the hot spring hotel. When I was worried about carrying large luggage to the hotel, I saw the Shuttle Bus picked up by the hotel staff as soon as I got off the bus. I was really pleasantly surprised. In addition, the hotel is only a 10-minute walk away from the ski lift station. If you don’t want to go to the ski resort, the hotel has Shuttle Bus every morning and afternoon to arrange transfers. Just pay attention to the timetable. The hotel actually has a variety of room types, but the room we booked is on the first floor. The room on the first floor is set in the west building. There is no elevator to reach the room. It is quite difficult to carry large luggage to the room. There is no separate toilet and bathroom in the room. The decoration is a bit dilapidated, and the public toilets are small in size. If they are obese, they can’t get in at all. As there was no room category to choose from when booking, I felt a little overwhelmed when I arrived at the store. The room we booked includes 1 night and 2 meals. The food is delicious and exquisite. After staying for 4 consecutive days, the food is different every day. With the value of our reservation, the price is really high. The hotel service is first-rate. During the time, my friend slipped and broke her ankle bone in the parking lot. The hotel staff immediately called her ambulance to the hospital. After she was discharged from the hospital, she also carefully arranged wheelchair transportation. At the same time, we arranged for friends to stay on the elevator floor and have separate toilets for free. Room. Since friends need to return to Hong Kong for medical treatment early, the hotel specially arranges vehicles to be sent to Yamagata Airport (the traffic is of course charged, but the price is very reasonable), so that friends can feel at ease during the process. I would like to express my sincere thanks to every employee of the hotel for their enthusiasm and care, and fully appreciate the high-quality service level and the strong human touch. As for the open-air hot springs, they may be closed due to bad weather, and there are free massage chairs in the bathroom for free use by customers. Compared with other hot spring hotels, most of the massage chairs are made of materials, and they feel generous and considerate and worth recommending.
Only a 1-minute walk from the Zao Onsen Ski resort, Pension Puutaro offers Japanese-style rooms, a French course for dinner and free Wi-Fi. The property is located just a minute's walk from Shinzaemon No Yu, a hot spring bath complex. Free parking is available, and Zao Ropeway is just 1 minute on foot. From Puutaro Pension it’s a 3-minute walk to the Chuo Ropeway. The property is an 8-minute walk from Zao Bus Terminal, which connects to JR Yamagata Station in 45 minutes. Okama Lake can be visited a 40-minute drive away. Rooms have a tatami (woven-straw) floor, on which traditional futon bedding is spread to sleep in. Amenities include a TV, a fridge and air conditioning/heating. Yukata robes are provided, while toilets and bathrooms are shared. SSometimestraveller12We went as a group of 5 to snowboard and the location was perfect, 7 min walk from chairlift 4, they also offer special deals for daily lift passes and nearby rental shop (Best Rental Shop) which was great! Fantastic onsen in the facilities open 24 hours every day (2 public and 3 private was available) was perfect for our aching bodies! The best part were the staff in particular a very cheery waiter who always delivers breakfast and dinner service with a smile! Food was delicious and showcased all the best seasonal local foods. While reception staff were not well rehe****d in english they tried their best to assist us as best as possible. They are slightly short staffed on front desk/in the shop but we were never really rushed for service and a bit of patience meant everyone is happy and you were eventually seen to! Our room was simple japanese style room with futons but very large for 5 people with nice views. We would absolutely come back here it was a very enjoyable stay!
GGuest UserWe arrived at Mt Zao in the middle of Our Epic Six Week Trip To Japan, during which we stayed in nine different hotels. This room was amongst my favourites. The staff largely didn't speak English and were not helpful. We had a stand off at the restaurant as we didn't understand that we couldn't dine at there without having made a booking far in advance. After this was explained, there was no apology or suggestions for alternative dining options. There are limited dining options in Zao. We ate at the Soup Curry place one night and a cute sushi joint another night. On the last night we ended up getting an ebiken bento box from the local L****ns as nothing was open. We did book breakfast each morning and that was fantastic. Lots of Japanese and Western options and it seemed like the food had all been prepared onsite. The hotel is very pretty, with a lovely view of the forest from the lobby. There is a common room with free coffee, tea and ice creams. People were pretty friendly in there. The hotel is the furthest from the 'town' but the closest to the ski lift and to the 'sulfurous' onsen. The ski lift is about 50 metres from the hotel and the ride up and down is spectacular. I thought the onsen was top notch. The sulfurous onsen outside has milky water that is supposed to be good for your complexion. It was fun having an onsen with snow all around. We stayed in the Western style room - it was spacious and well appointed. Our little lounge area had a beautiful view of pine trees and lots of snow. There was also a similar view from the luxurious bath tub (but I didn't use that tub as the onsen was so good.) The beds in our room were very hard. Our room also had a massage chair which I used for hours a time. It was a bit of a trek getting to Mt Zao. The hotel staff weren't very helpful with organising buses but they did drop us off at the bus stop early in the morning and we were picked up on our day of arrival. I know that the staff weren't friendly to us because of the language barrier, which is a shame because everyone should enjoy this venue. I would stay here again for sure. Next time we'll book the dinner set. It did smell amazing ! --
CCHOONTECKSpacious for me. Although a bit old it good conditions. Only issue is thar the aircon it either on or off and it pretty warm so for late autumn and winter it is alright. Breakfast is either Japanese or western and the lounge is cosy. The carpark is a multi storey carpark west of the hotel so to drive past the building and anticlockwise. Good deal when I book it for 1 night. There a family mart right below.
GGuest UserThe location is good. Room is decent equipped with heater that I think is time to replace seems not working very well. The breakfast and dinner especially is very worth n nice. First night we had pork shabu shabu n second night lamb BBQ. The staffs in restaurants r friendly n good, especially the old uncle n Philippo lady . Can see all the local staffs sort of rely or keep letting the lady work only as she speak english. In other words, a bit taking advantage of her. onsen is also nice especially the outdoor with trees n snow feel. The front desk staffs r very bad. There is one young guy that just stand there and when I carry my little girl with one hand while another hand pushing luggage where I need to push the entrance door. During check in, even the philipino girl helped to push the luggage inside while the same guy just stand there n look. Another more serious attitude guy was the older shorter guy with mole on his face, I parked my car in front as there was no parking didn't know is the hotel's van lot, the guy spoke with to remove the car like scolding n yelling at me. Super bad attitude. Lastly the air filter in the room, the cleaning standard operating procedure should include cleaning the water tank n it's surrounding. Looks very dirty with mold. Overall is worth your money n experience just some negative experiences by some bad staffs. Not missing another issue is the smoking room, is the exactly at the entrance n next to the welcome drinks sofa (though with ventilation n dedicated room but still can smell the smoke)
GGuest UserVery close to the ski lift, the Japanese-style room is very large, including dinner and breakfast, it is pretty good, the taste of Zao local ingredients, the food is very full and full! There are many Japanese and Taiwanese in the hotel.
GGuest UserHotel will pick up and drop off to the bus station, ski resort, service
The room is clean and large. There is a hall, a room, a toilet, and a bathroom on both sides. Breakfast is rich. Dinner is a try
All hotel staffs are polite and can communicate in simple English
There is a room for skis near the hotel door
But the hot spring female soup is so fine
I will stay again if I go to Zao
GGuest UserI visited with my children on weekdays in June. On that day, we were able to use it very freely because we were the only customers. The impression is that the building is carefully and beautifully used. The restroom was not in the room and was shared, but it was clean and there was no particular stress. (Because there were no other customers) The landlady was kind and talked to the children many times, so it was comfortable even with children. I was able to eat well from the morning, and he told me, ”There are many twin cherries this year 🍒.” I saw twin cherries for the first time, but they were delicious 😋 I arrived at the Shinkansen late at night and was scheduled to leave at 9 o'clock in the morning, so the location was convenient and helpful.
GGuest UserThe minor problem is that the door lock is very difficult to be unlocked. There is instruction to turn counter clockwise but it looks like sometimes work sometimes don’t work. Otherwise excellent.
NnanachanpeWe arrived in a few minutes from Yamagata Station. It is cheap though access is outstanding. It is convenient. The deadline for breakfast is 880 yen until 8 o'clock the night before. Breakfast is from 7:00 to 8:00 in the morning, the same 3 floor as the receptionist. The front desk is kind. After the stay, I received an email through the reservation site. I felt the business effort.
