Castle Hotel Windsor

We had a one night stay and have to say it was great! Stayed in a larger room on the top floor with views of the castle and Guild Hall, truly lovely. Plenty of room for two adults and two little boys. Very clean and comfortable. The shower was super as were the lovely smelling toiletries, really good quality. Excellent quality tea, coffee and Nespresso in the room (proper milk in the fridge!) We also had complimentary mini bar in the suite (soft drinks only) and because we booked direct 4 free drinks from the bar including alcohol-that was a lovely surprise! The service at check in and check out was prompt, professional and friendly. Breakfast was excellent, really good variety and delicious. The lovely lady (maybe Filipina-sorry I didn’t get her name) who was managing breakfast this morning at 7:30am was super friendly and an asset to the hotel, keep hold of her!! But have to say all staff we encountered were professional and friendly. Easy to park and £30 for safe, convenient over night parking isn’t bad for central Windsor. We are staying again in December and already looking forward to it! If you need to be in Windsor to see the sights and want them on your doorstep then you can’t go wrong with the lovely Castle Hotel.
Sir Christopher Wren Hotel

Pros: The location is good, it is great to have breakfast on the Thames and Eaton Bridge early in the morning. The same English breakfast. The parking lot needs to be parked outside. Disadvantages: Luggage and children pay attention, our room is in need of climbing the old British building three floors and it is the kind of transfer, the estimated trouble. The bed in the room is small and not suitable for a family of three. The extra bed did not know, there was no call. PS: The room is not air conditioned!
Macdonald Windsor Hotel

The Hotel is perfectly situated for visiting Windsor Castle and a very short walk to Windsor Royal Theatre. My husband and I have stayed at the hotel numerous times. This time we stayed as we went to see a show at the theatre, Darker Shores, which was incredible. The staff at the hotel were polite and well presented and the breakfast more than satisfactory. The room was clean and comfortable and we slept well. It is our go to Hotel in Windsor and hope to stay again soon. Thank you to John Willcock for arranging the room for us and for leaving a handwritten welcome with complimentary chocolates and water. We had a wonderful stay!
The Royal Adelaide Hotel

Stayed here last week for two days. It’s a a pretty former house and quirky. Room wasn’t huge but big enough, with a nice bathroom and tub. There isn’t a lift, but they will take your luggage up and down for you. The staff are nice and friendly. The woman who oversees the restaurant was very nice and helpful. Rooms don’t have a frig but they offered to put our drinks in the kitchen frig for us. Had breakfasts and one dinner in the restaurant/lounge and the food was good. The location is good..probably a 10 minute easy walk to the Castle and retail area where there are lots of restaurants and shops. As others had mentioned, there is a car park but it’s quite small (you have to reserve a space which we weren’t able to get) and very tight. They do recommend a commercial car park that’s around a 7-8 minute walk away….so not great but close enough.
The Union Inn

I was looking for accommodations for a couple nights that was close to the Windsor Central rail station as well as Windsor Castle and the Union Inn was perfect. Uber fares ranged from $7-$9, from the Inn to the station, Windsor Castle or the Magna Carta. Let me tell you about the great experience I had at the Inn. I arrived early after arriving on train from London. I arrived several hours before check in but I was met outside by a ”long stay” client who offered me a cup of coffee while I waited. It was not long before the proprietress Tess, came out and let me know I could check in as soon as the housekeeper was finished. I had a wonderful ensuite double room on the second floor above the restaurant and pub. I had planned to spend Wednesday and Thursday in Old Windsor, attend Windsor Castle an Wednesday and Magna Carta on Thursday, however the Castle is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday! I was traveling solo and after a full day I saddled up to the pub bar where I was welcomed by the locals. They advertise a pub style menu, which sounds limited but in reality they had a delightful selection of choices for dinner. A traditional English breakfast is available in the morning and I took advantage of it both days. After a long day in the Castle on Thursday I looked forward to dinner at the Inn and it did not disappoint. The highlight of the evening occurred when I approached a group of locals that included a very attractive woman that strongly resembled an Australian friend of mine. I will include her picture. I hope I do not get in trouble, :) I was fortunate to join them for dinner. (I think I actually invited myself), regardless they were very welcoming and I did not have to spend the evening by myself and regretted that I was leaving in the morning. Fun fact: ask Tess about her modeling career and how Hugh Hefner bought a photograph taken by her uncle who was a noted photographer. Another fun fact; Sir Elton John's house is about a half mile down the road.
De Vere Beaumont Estate

We visited twice in September 2022, using the hotel prior to and post travelling from Heathrow. The complex is set in beautiful grounds, a short drive from Windsor, a very short walk from the Thames and historical Runnymede and is brilliantly located for Heathrow. Legoland is no more than 10 mins away by car. Ample parking is available on site and the hotel is set over a range of buildings and locations, including the beautiful White House. We can’t credit the front of house team enough. They were exceptional, brilliantly professional, very friendly and exceptionally helpful, even when we arrived late at night following our arrival at LHR. The rooms are really well appointed, well decorated and the beds exceptionally comfortable. We had two great nights sleep there. It will be very difficult to find something you don’t like at breakfast. A very extensive range of well prepared and presented food and staff are on hand to help and tidy as required. We had dinner in the restaurant on our first night with a drink in the bar beforehand. The restaurant menu is extensive and there should be something for everyone with reasonable prices and good portion sizes. We loved the wine list, which again had a great range available. Service was really good, attentive and friendly. Genuinely can’t recommend enough. It’s almost the hidden jewel of hotels in and around Windsor and Heathrow. We will definitely be using it again.
