The Cottage

We have stayed at the Cottage on quite a few occasions now and still cannot find fault at all. The place is homely and comfortable and the rooms are cosy and warm and very clean. The communication with Cottage is exceptional, getting a reply very quickly. The breakfast is superb and if you have a good appetite just ask for an extra large portion. Muriel who runs the dining room is a gem. She is informative, witty, pleasant and efficient and always has a tale to tell. The added bonus is free parking and although limited you can generally get a space. There is no reception but you get an email informing you of the key code to access the front door and your room door which works perfectly well. Of course you can find fault with any hotel/guest house but I would have to be very very picky to find fault with the Cottage. Book it and see for yourself!!!!

The room was an adequate size, chair under tv not great. The tv reception was terrible, after a full day out it would have been nice to unwind without having to try and mess with the aerial connection to get a good picture. They provide a hairdryer that is fixed to the wall but there isn't a mirror near it, in our room (room 8) the mirror was next to the bathroom door. A little fridge is provided with what looked like a very small freezer compartment, this did not work, the fridge itself wasn't the coolest and couldn't see a dial to change temperature. Perfectly situated for Windermere and Bowness on foot. Free parking available. Pre order for breakfast which we didn't mind. Breakfast was tasty but not enough of it in my opinion. The lady that served breakfast was lovely, very friendly and knowledgeable about the area.

Absolutely fantastic place. People that put negative reviews are very hard to please. Everything from check in to communication with the host, free parking, comfy bed, fluffy bath sheets, breakfast, cannot fault anything. The location is perfect for exploring the lake district and yes we will definitely be back for our 3rd stay.

The best possible location. Parking included in the price adds a great value to the experience. The staff is at the same time professional and friendly . Rooms are clean and cosy and breakfast is delicious. I’ll definitely come back as soon as I can
